I dont know, i was talking to a friend the other day about Heaven and what its like, and her idea was very differnt from what my pastor and father always told me =S
We were taught when you go to heaven, you forget your loved ones and have a new memory of only heaven, not Earth.
Which is why you feel no pain, you don't miss your loved ones that are still living.
Discuss:
* Whats your view?
* Has anyone heard what ive been taught?
* Is the description different to each denomination?

Everyone probably has different ways of viewing. We are all human, after all, and all are capable of seeing the world in a different way.
My understanding is simply that it is a constant state of worship. Which, I suppose, may seem a bit daunting and redundant to some. Except maybe for those who truly love God. I've kind of wondered that, as members of the body of Christ, that maybe we don't literally become one with Him in the end. Like our physical bodies breaking down and becoming one with the earth. Might not be the best example but I can't think of anything else, right now...

I've spent a bit of time wondering what Heaven is like but, every time I think about it, I realise how difficult it is to picture and I think of it in different ways. I haven't had any visions or clues about it other than a half-dream and even then I'm not sure it was of Heaven. It could merely have been a revelation for myself. I just don't know.
I've not researched different denominations' views of what Heaven will be like so I wouldn't know. My mind is so foggy right now. sad

I've always thought that Heaven would be like a constant state of worship as well, but I'm not sure about what you asked.
Heaven By Randy Alcorn is supposed to be all about what Heaven will be like based on Bible verses, but I've never read it.

To be honest, I don't really know what the United Methodist church says on Heaven, but that could be because, in general, us Methodists aren't too concerned with it. The idea that my church always had was if you're living in your walk with God, you will live a fulfilled life- not perfect, but fulfilled. That will make this life on earth like Heaven, meaning when you die that's just icing on the cake.
Though, in general, what I've always kind of assumed like Heaven is that it's good and that, in general, you're so overwhlemed by God's goodness you're just consumed by Joy. I dunno.

I'm gonna have to go with the constant state of worship thing too. We'll come face to face with our King finally and we'll be able to give Him all the worship and adoration He is worthy of and that we couldn't give Him while here on Earth, because the world got in the way. Other than that, I have no idea, but I don't really care. As long as I'm with Jesus, that's all that matters.

I'm fond of the idea that Heaven has wonderful books and art and music. I mean, are all those artists and authors sitting around doing nothing? That was their joy in life. Our personalities stay after we die... or at least I think so. I imagine worship and love and seeing God will be a big part of heaven, but I also think that there has to be more.
I have a friend who has a duller version of heaven. Is everyone familiar with the rock that's a hundred miles long and a hundred miles high? Once every thousand years, a bird comes and sharpens its beak. Eventually, the stone gets worn down. In that amount of time, you'll still be watching the Sound of Music. And you'll like it. A lot. Or so he says. But what does he know? mrgreen

And for some people, worship happens through their art and music, through they're study. Our entire lives, ideally, should be an act of worship. So, basically, maybe we just continue our lives up there? Except doing what we love and being more perfect about it?

I'm sure it wouldn't be, but just the same. I don't really know what, perse it will be, but it'll be awesome.

Well, it would only be boring if you're thinking of it in finite, human terms. Just the thought of being with God forever is kinda scary, but when I think that that was what I was made for, and that attempting to really think or comprehend it is impossible because right now I'm not immortal, I stop worrying about it. Discussing it is interesting, sure, but pointless in the end. 3nodding
