 Eidel laid by a stream, twirling her paw in the cool water. She was feeling uneasy. She knew she had to go home sometime, but she didn't want to. Plus, she knew her mother would never let her leave again. Eidel laughed. "As if she can keep me there," she began talking to herself.

Van stumbled through the shrubs and plants of the forest. With each and every turn you found something knew to freak out about. Whether it be some small harmless creature, or vines hanging from a tree. It was truely a sorry sight to see the male anthro walk through the forest towards the stream.
Screaming, Van fell face first near the bank of the stream.
Van really needed to get out more...

Eidel was quite startled by the scream. She quickly jumped up and was ready to fight. ..Then she saw Van. She eyed him curiously for a moment and then quickly approached him. "Are you alright?" she asked concernedly as she scanned the area for whatever might have made him scream.

Van shoved himself up off the ground as he spit out some dirt from his mouth.
"I'm fine. Just say something running across the ground and I sort of...freaked out..." Van laughed nervously as sat on the ground.
"I hope I didn't scare you or anything. I'm sorry if I did. I don't really get out much. Spend most of my time at home, so being out here is kind of new in a way. Or at least being out alone..."

Eidel relaxed. So there wasn't anything threatening out there. She listened to him carefully.
"No, you didn't scare me. I was a little worried is all." She smiled and patted his shoulder. "Well you aren't alone anymore."

Van smiled back at Eidel as he laughed nervously. "Right, that's true. I suppose I have someone to "Protect" me now, even though it is supposedly supposed to be the other way around." He shook his head in amusement as he thought about the traditional roll of males being the protectors and females being damsels.
"Anyway, what are you doing out here? I've run in to you all over the place for the last day or two."

Eidel laughed a little when he did. He was right; males were traditionally he protectors. "I don't always stick to the traditional," she commented on his comment, "But I do like to be saved every now and then."
She looked back at the stream. "I was thinking. Plus, I have no where to go. I refuse to return home." She eyed him curiously. "Is that a bad thing?" she asked referring to them bumping into each other often.

Going stiff Van wildly waved his hands infront of him. "No no! not at all! There is nothing wrong with running in to someone! Plus I like talking to you and hanging out so there is nothing wrong with it!"
Calming himself, Van huggrf his legs close to his chest Van looked out at the stream as he thought about what Eidel had said.
"As for you and your home situation, I guess it depends on the situation, but everyone has to leave home eventually or else how will the learn and meet new challanges and people? Family can't expect you to stay locked up at home forever. Every bird has to spread its wings one day, but if I may ask, why do you refuse?"

Eidel couldn't help but smile. He had reassured her so easily; maybe it was his talent.
"You should try telling that to my mother. She's sometimes a control freak." She paused, thinking about his last question. "Trying to avoid my mother," she replied simply. She knew she could tell him all the details, but she didn't want to put too much on him at once. "I enjoy talking with you too, by the way."

Van cdidn't know what to really say at this point. He couldn't say he understood her problem since he didn't. Van didn't even know his own mother. He couldn't say he could talk to her mother since he didn't even know the lady and felt that maybe he shouldn't really meet her if she was really that controlling.
Thinking, Van ran his hand through his hair.
"Maybe it is her way of showing she cares? I don't really know. Whatever it is I hope you get it solved one day. In the mean time I guess you should enjoy your freedom and find a place to stay."

Eidel nodded reluctantly. "Maybe you're right." She looked at his face, trying to read his expression. "Thanks for letting me stay above the bar that one night. Other than that, I've been sleeping in trees." She put her paws on her back, and made a painful face. "Not comfortable in the least bit." She sat down close to him and leaned against his shoulder.

Van looked over at Eidel with an amused expression as he laughed alightly.
"Any reason why you might have thought a tree would be a comfortable play to sleep?"
Van't laughing stopped short as Eidel leaned against him. It wasn't that he didn't mind or he wanted her off, it was just a friend thing, right? Right.
Twiddling his thumbs Van clearned his throat.
"Um, so, if you really need a more comfortable place to stay you can still use the room above the bar. Like I said, no one really uses it."

"Well I had never slept in a tree before. I wasn't sure what to expect." She shook her head as she spoke. "But I don't think I'll be trying that again."
Eidel paw her paws on Van's arm and looked up at him. "Really? That would be great!" She smiled. "I could pay you rent if you wanted. I have a little money..."

"No no. Rent isn't needed. You can just..have it. Think of it as a gift I guess. A needed and very useful gift. PLus, I doubt money is easy to come by on this island unless you are a human or work for one."

Eidel stared blankly as he patted her. "Well that is true. I would say I could steal money from my human...but I don't really want to be a thief." She looked at the ground then back at him. "Well the," she started. "Thank you so much. And I'll pay you back someday, somehow." She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly.
