It's mid afternoon, the day after the gathering hut was built. This morning Llune went for a walk on the beach with her son, and Dancer and Peyote went foraging in the forest near the cove, but now everyone's returned, eaten some lunch, and gone on about their business. Llune's just finished making her comb for FireBright and is sitting on a smooth stone outside the hut entrance waiting for Dancer to wander over with her bond.

Llune hums gently to herself, placing the last tiny peg into the comb and running her delicate fingers across it swiftly to create a soft whizzing sound. It's been a good day, there was something other than yucky old fish to eat for lunch, and Llune got to converse wtih Savith for quite some time this morning.

The next thing on her agenda is to comb FireBright and keep the fur to make some fine thread with later. Llune waits patiently for Dancer to arrive from wherever she's at, so that her bond may be combed. Llune taps a foot, not in an impatient fashion, but to the time of the silly little song she's humming, as if the foot-tapping is the beat of a drum.

The sun is high in the sky, but past its highest point, and the day has become quite warm. Surely it is the pinnacle of summertime, and in the absence of twittering birds the soft hum of the everlasting vast-deep fills the background, as though it is the orchestra supporting Llune's hummed tune.

It had been a busy morning thus far and Dancer liked it that way. If she sat to long she started to fuss. It would have been fine with her to stay in the woods all day but she knew a day like that might just make her new friend snap. Besides Llune had been so kind to offer to groom Fire Brights coat and that was something the cat would enjoy. Dancer made her way to Llune and said softly, "Are you ready or if now is not a good time I can bring the tiger back to you later." She never wanted to be a bother to anyone and sometimes that was her most annoying quality. whee

As the elf and her big beautiful kitty wandered over Llune lit up - yay, more time to pet the big pretty cat! And then Dancer so gently offered to come back when it was more convenient.

"Oh, no no no, now is a lovely time!" Llune gushes, her hands already reaching fro the big cat's ears to give them a good scritching, "I just finshed the comb, actually, and would love to try it out," she says, holding up the comb in one hand for Dancer and FireBright to see, "Do you think he will mind?" she asks, never having combed a *tiger* before.

Dancer hold on her face that same soft bright smile she normaly has and gently takes the comb from Llune after saying. "May I" Looking the item over she placed the sharp side against her arm and pulled it across her own skin first to know for sure its sharpness. The comb left light marks but nothing serious. "That will do fine. You are a wonderful craftsmen... Umm woman..." She chuckles and hands the comb back. "He will enjoy love you no end for that."

Llune giggles at Dancer's testing of the comb. It never occured to her that she should try it on herself! Or at least, not on her arm - perhaps her hair...

"Will he then? I was worried he may not like it..." She takes the brush back and scritches the tiger behind his nearest ear, speaking softly to him, "Okay, my beautiful friend, I'm going to brush you now, just tell me if you want me to stop, okay?" She says all this softly and directly to the kitty, as though he'll understand and tell her if she brushes too hard.

Llune moves off the stone and kneels beside the great cat, running the brush through the fur along his neck and shoulder blades. Beside the stone she was sitting upon is a small basket for saving the fur in. She begins to hum softly again, accidentally humming in an open send as well.

"How did you come to know this fine furry friend, my dear?" Llune asks casually, intending to strike up a conversation and get to know this pretty little elfess better.

Dancer finds a rock as well to sit on and then gives Fire Bright a commnd to sit. The massive cat sitting and seeming very content to be groomed. Dancer looked at the sky and then at her feline friend. "Fire Bright is my fourth bond. I got him not long after I got my name. He's about five and now in his prime." A soft chuckle leaves her. "He is the cub of a female tiger that was with other tribe members. When I came to collect him he was sitting near the cooking fire and sunlight was streaming down on him from a small window. When he looked at me his eyes seemed to shine like the sun but they were the color of the fire." She shrugs a bit. "He was so cute and round as well I could have called him rolly polly." Now she laughed. "He is the seckond male I have had and other then him wandering off to find a mate from time to time he is wonderful."

Llune nods during Dancer's story, brushing the cat in firm, even strokes all the while. "Ah, I see why you named him FireBright, then..." she murmurs.

"But, tell me, this 'bond' that you do, is it something like the Chosen with their bond birds? Are only warriors allowed to 'bond'?" She looks up for a moment and smiles, then looks back down at the great cat, "And you say 'fourth,' does that mean that every now and again you pick a new 'bond'? What happens with the old 'bond's?"

And then another thought occurs to Llune, "What do you mean, 'got your name'? You weren't given one at birth?"

"Tigers, well our tigers anyway have come to know we will not harm them and trust us as they do their own after all this time. I guess you could compare them to pets but they are more like family." Her face saddened a bit. "Short lived family. A tiger only lives about 15 years and so one may very well go through many a bond in there life. I lost one to a trap when I was younger." Pushing that thought aside she smiled and looked at Llune. "As for my name we are sent off for one turn of the seasons to be on our own. When we come back we are given an adult name to fit the new person we have become. I bet flying is amazing though. I would love to know the feeling of flight. I asked Savith once but he doesn't feel like sharing it. I can wait till he feels comfortable or finds a joyful memory of it." Dancer gets up and rubs her nose against the tigers with a smile. "Fire Bright and I have had many joyful times together."

Llune listens to Dancer's explanations with wide eyes and her full attention. Although she's friendly to all things, it's a rather new concept to consider getting to know a family of tigers like family. She combs FireBright firmly but gently, pausing to occasionally pull the fur from the brush and drop it in the little basket.

When Dancer rubs her nose on the tigers, Llune giggles, "Awww," she coos, and then moves on to brush the great cat's right shoulder. "You went off by yourself for a whole year?" she asks, remembering her few months in solitude before finding the group at the cove, "And then you become someone new?" Llune must consider this more deeply later on... She spent some time alone, *she* may have become someone new as well!

But in reply to the question about flying Llune grins, "Flying is amazing!" Llune sends openly the feeling of being airborne so that Dancer may sample it. "It's much like being held as a baby, I think," she says, "Although I don't do much of it. I generally tend to lift other things and not myself, though I can do it..." She smiles, pulling another wad of hair out of the brush and examining it, "Oh, this will make such a lovely thread!"

The young elfess looks up at the sky and sighs softly. "I don't mean floating like you and Savith do. I mean flying with the great birds I heard tell about. Floating is amazing but to be one with a bond is like an extension of yourself. To soar through a cloud and find the sun behind it on a miserable day. To glide through the colors in the sky after a light shower. To plummet towards the ground and at the last moment pull up again. NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING TO ENJOY!" Her eyes were wide now and her arms stuck out on the sides like wings as she spoke but when she realized what she was doing she pulled her arms in again and blushed a bit. "Even when Fire Bright runs full out it is as if we are one." She sat again on her rock and fussed a bit. "As for being alone a year, it can do many things to someone. You can't depend on your parents to hunt for you anymore. You have only yourself to speak with unless something goes wrong or it is urgent. I was never a strong hunter so my year left me hungry many a night. Unless I ate various bugs and plants I found. I saw once an elf came back after only a short time away. He lost his arm in a fight with a hungry crock." Dancer sent an image of what the great water beast looked like. Snapping teeth and a flash of greenish brown. Sometimes an unwary elf lost more then a body part to the monsters. "It was an awful sight and good thing we had a healer to stop the bleeding or they would have had to sew him shut and hope it worked. If you didn't take care you could be killed by colorful leaf hoppers that held poison in there skin. I loved learning about the animals though and knew many things to watch for when it was my turn to go out." She chuckled softly.

Llune gasped at the images of the crocodile, bloody teeth and the gnashing and all that scared her, "Oh, my! What a frightening monster!" she exclaimed, having ceased her brushing at the disturbing image, "The poor elf! Loosing an arm!" She extends her brush-holding arm and examines it, "I wouldn't know what to do if I lost an arm!"

"What a savage world you came from! How is it that anyone survived such dangerous trials?" She makes no mention of eating bugs. That's just gross, and she will NOT think about that for a second, no way, no how! Then she recalls her task and pulls the hair from the brush and resumes the grooming.

Llune's reaction made Dancer laugh softly. Perhaps she did come from a savage land but it was her home and she so missed it. "It did have it's beauty as well." Now while she spoke she showed Llune images of the things she spoke of. "The leaf hoppers are so colorful they look like little flowers hopping about. I remember going to the very top of the highest tree I could find once. There I found so many flutterbugs it was like the great vast deep of them. Birds would sing all day and little hoppers and such would sing all night. Our home is dangerous yes but full of wonder and aw if you know where to look." Dancer smiled softly at Llune. "I'm sure you thought your home was lovely didn't you? I would think it awful to live in a cold dark mountain for to long but I would love to visit any place new. Like my trip into the vast deep with Crosscurrent. How many can say they were there? I can and I would love to see where every elves home is or was like. Wouldn't that be amazing?" Her face beamed with wonder and a light that came from inside. A youths thirst to know. To know anything and everything anyone would show her, teach her or she could find out on her own.

Llune gasps at the images of the flutterbugs in the tree, and giggles at the images of the colorful leaf hoppers. "Oh, it's so pretty!" she exclaims, still brushing the great cat's shoulder.

"And I didn't mean to imply that your home wasn't beautiful! I was only saying it seems so dangerous, why, I wouldn't last a moment in the trees, what with monsters and all those teeth about." She shudders again, only slightly this time, as she recalls the frightening image and the thought of loosing an arm.

As Dancer mentions her mountain home, Llune nods, "Oh, yes, I loved my home. And it wasn't cold! Or dark. Well, parts were, of course, but we had enormous gardens tucked away under a ceiling made of clear crystal plates that let in sunshine, and there were roses, of every color and size growing all up and down the walls..."

She trails off, sharing images of the gardens and the hallways, with their intricate tapestries and colorful paintings, the sculptures and designs created out of the very stone of the mountain by talented shapers, the fountains and pools and all the benefits of a resident watershaper...

"It was always changing, and there was so much to see, it'd take more than a moon to traverse every hallway and see every beautiful thing, and by then everything you'd already passed would have grown into something even more intricate and amazing..."

Llune pauses her brushing to pull a ball of orange fuzz from the comb and drop it into the basket. She moves to the other side of the great cat, exclaiming like a child smitten with an enormous kitten, "Oh you're such a lovely beast!" and kisses the top of his massive head, fast as a mouse, before *actually* kneeling to begin brushing FireBright's right shoulder.

"What is a crossed current? Is that how you saw all those things under the vast deep waters?"

Well now Dancer nodded and Llune was much older then her so must have spotted the far away look Dancer got as she poke about him. "Oh yes." She sent an image of him to Llune. His long blond hair with streeks of blue, His forest green eyes that looked like fresh leaves and the brick red tail as he swam about in the water with her. Not to mention he like most elves was well muscled and made Dancers heart flutter just a bit more then she would like. "Crosscurrent is a water elf and is alone. I have tried to get him to come meet all of you and I think it is working. He just doesn't trust easily."
