Okay, this hasn't been confirmed by anybody at Mirage, 4Kids, or Imagi, so take it with a grain of salt.
Playmates is claiming a live action movie is on the way for 2010 on their website:

Could this be true?

Unless IMAGI has gotten their act together and signed a new contract, last I heard they were no longer under contract with Mirage as of April and Mirage was looking into other studios who were interested. Playmates could be mistaken, and it is wise to take this with a grain of salt.

There is always hope. Maybe if we all cross our fingers and chant "Live Action TMNT" over and over again it will happen! This piece of news just made my day. It's not much but hey its a start.

Well, the official word from Mirage is, Playmates jumped the gun. They're not even going with Imagi anymore. Imagi wanted the sequel to be a straight-up comedy with a little fighting, and Mirage said, "no". They're optioning other studios now, and hope to have something out by 2011.

Apparently the second one was toned down due to complaints from angry moms/dads. Thus why Shredder died.
