Dubwana'dubu was attempting to hunt, the word attempting being used because of his injury that hadn't quite healed yet. It was painful for him to crouch in the bushes and so that much harder for him to hide from the brown and pink hare he was watching. A hare? Yes, the big lion was hunting a hare which would barely be a mouthful for him. He would have gone after a water buffalo calf but he was scared he would get injured further by one of the adults. Luckily for him hares didn't have the same possibility of inflicting pain.

Kipendo sat in the tall grass of the Savannah, nibbling on bits of brown grass. It wasn't very juicy but it would do until she found something better. The hare was lost in her thoughts, she usually was, wondering about frivolous things. She had no idea she was being hunted.

The lion narrowed his gold eyes, this hunt was important. If he didn't managed to catch the hare he'd be going home to Gouta empty handed- again. Between the sandy lion's horrible hunting skills and Bwana's injury the male knew they were going to starve soon. Gouta before Bwana, the poor golden lion had no meat on his bones. With this thought in mind he crouched down more, gritted his teeth against the pain, and got ready to spring.

Unknowingly to the lion when he crouched down his paw had shifted, breaking a twig. Kip's large ears caught the sound easily and her pink eyes widened. She didn't take off though, she was oddly calm for a hare, almost as if she were on drugs. She just twitched her ears, and looked out ahead of her taking one hop forwards, the picture of ease.

He was about to spring when he was stopped by a sharp pain in his back leg. His gold eyes widened and he cut off a growl that wanted to erupt out of his throat. His bad leg had cramped up and before he could hunt he had to stretch it out the best he could.

Kip's ears stayed alert even though the rest of her body looked totally relaxed and at ease. She wasn't planning on getting eaten but she also knew if she ran off whatever it was that was stalking her would give chase and while she was fast she wasn't sure if she was that fast.

It took him a bit but Bwana was finally able to contort himself so that his back leg was stretched out without making too much noise. He was mentally cursing his injury and the crocodile that gave it to him. If he hadn't been attacked than he would have already caught this stupid hare.

Even though it seemed Kip was on drugs a hare's patience could only be stretched so thin and she was starting to feel the urge to run. Instead the brown hare just took another hop forwards, nibbling on a bit of grass seed she found close to the ground.

Determined once more Bwana shuffled forwards as silently as he could. He froze though as the wind shifted. Pressing himself even close to the ground he winced knowing that if the hare caught his scent he would have to chase after it and that was one thing he didn't want.

Kip did catch the lion's scent and she froze stiff as a board as she did so. All the ganja in the world couldn't have kept her calm in the presence of a lion. And so she did what all other hares would do- bolt in the opposite direction.

User Image"Damn!" Bwana cursed out loud when he saw his lunch bolt. In a flash he was up and running after it. Every step hurt like hell, a sharp hot pain flashing through his leg as he ran, but he and his mate needed to eat and so he needed to hunt- he couldn't stop.

Kip didn't bother to look behind her as she ran, she may be small but she was fast as a bullet. She made a hard turn trying to shake the lion off her tail. She hated being hunted, it had only happened once before to her but she had managed to get away. From the stories her friends told it was a miracle if a hare got away from a lion twice. The little brown hare was praying for a miracle.

Bwana had almost caught up when the damned vermin made a sharp turn to the right which he tried to follow but his bad leg gave out and he began to tumble, sliding to a stop against a large rock. "Ugh," He groaned, dizzy and in mass amounts of pain now. That wasn't going to help the healing process any.

Kip didn't even know that she had shaken the lion, she just knew that she had to keep running until she was exhausted and get as far away as she possible could. Hanging around a lion was bad for her health. Within minutes she was gone from the lion's sight and hopefully they'd never meet again.

Bwana groaned and slowly pushed himself up to his feet. Well he had made a mess of that and it looked like he was going home empty handed again. He knew Gouta wouldn't make a big deal out of it, he never did. But Bwana hated going home to his mate with nothing in hand, it made him feel useless. Shaking his head he turned and began to limp home.
