RP between Rynn and Hale, in Amies
Rynn sleepily made her way down from her apartment towards the Cafe. Once again she had gotten up much earlier than she wished to due to her cat. She would have gone back to sleep, but then she probably would have been late to work, so she forced herself to get up and dressed. She decided to kill time by having breakfast. It might wake her up from her morning stupor. She finally realized just how out of it she was when she noticed the light shining from her hand.
Somehow or another, without even thinking about it, Rynn had brought the bottle with her. It glowed brightly, lighting up the area around her. When she finally realized what she had it she froze in the middle of the street. Why the hell had she grabbed it? Now she would have to take it all the way back to her apartment, and she was halfway to the Cafe already! She stood, torn by indecision. Part of her wanted to be lazy and just keep going, but she was already attracting curious glances. It was still early enough in the morning that the bottle was ridiculously bright.
((aha. Rynn is dense when she wakes up. ))

After leaving Sojo at Amies Circle, Hale meandered the streets slowly, making his way home; he didn't want to unpack on a full stomach, so he decided to take the long way home to properly digest before doing heavy labour.
As he walked, he pulled out his Dust Bottle and looked at it's clock, checking the time on the little clock inside of it. He smiled, it was still mid-morning, he had lots of time; he was sure of it. Rounding a corner, he walked straight into a young woman, knocking the brilliant glass object from her hand. In sudden realisation of what it was, Hale reached out and caught it before it fell to the ground; though he supposed the bottles were probably tougher than that, he didn't want to take the chance.
"My deepest apologise, My Lady," he said smoothly, holding up the bottle to her, "I'm glad I didn't break such a precious object."

Rynn felt frozen as the bottle flew from her hand. It was going to break! But the overwhelming panic only lasted a moment, as the man that bumped into her caught it. She let out a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding.
"It's alright. It didn't break." Rynn replied, shoving away the thought of the beautiful glass smashing to pieces. Well, she felt awake now at least. "That was close though." She grabbed the bottle from him with a reassuring smile. Then she noticed the bottle in his other hand.
"You have one too!" Rynn leaned down to peer at the bottle. It had a clock inside! How odd! "Where did you get it? I must confess I found mine outdoors with no one around, and I haven't been able to figure out where it came from! Who made them? I want to ask what's inside mine, it looks like a feather made of flame almost, but I suppose I'd have to give it back to whoever left it outside in the first place." She felt exited, and questions jumped about in her mind quickly, all demanding an answer.

Hale tilted his head to the side and gave a charming smile at the young woman's sudden outburst of questions. He held up his bottle and looked deep into the glass for a moment, "I, I guess, purchased mine in a sense," he said, remembering the phantom antique shop, though he didn't dare mention it for fear of being labelled insane. "I would like to think that these bottles choose their caretakers," he said after a moment, now peering at hers carefully.
"I don't think I can tell you what yours is, but I was told mine is Time," he said after inspecting her bottle carefully. "I'll tell you though, I've certainly had an interesting... time since I've picked this thing up," he added with a slight pause and a chuckle. "I think you can rest assured though, My Lady, that this bottle meant for you to find it," he said with a gentle smile as he slipped his own bottle back into his dark kimono.

How confusing. How could a bottle chose anything? it wasn't like it was alive. Rynn frowned. They had themes, but that didn't tell her much more. Something connected to fire? She would have to think about it. On the other hand, he was saying that the bottle was hers since she found it. Was it some weird rule about the bottle? finders keepers? Or was that his own feelings of ownership? She cradled her bottle protectively. She didn't particularly want to give it up anyways.
"Time, huh? I wonder..." She said, forcing herself to calm down. One question at a time would be better than bombarding him. "What is their purpose?"

"Purpose? Hrmm," Hale thought for a moment, stroking his lips with his index finger lightly, "He said something along the lines of; to show humans what living is about," he replied after some thought. "I was told by a man I met last night that this bottle will eventually produce a child," he explained.
He looked around, this was hardly the place to discuss this sort of thing, "Were you heading somewhere in particular, because I can walk with you, I'm in no hurry at the moment," he said, pulling out his bottle to check the time again. "Or we can just find a bench and take as much time as we need," he stated after a moment, noticing the second hand of the clock had stopped completely. He sighed again, starting to feel exhausted, wiped out by all of these freezes in time; the time may have stopped, but his body still functioned in the mean time.

"What?" A child...? No way. Children don't come from bottles. That was silly. He didn't really believe something like that, did he? Rynn tugged a lock of hair in a habitual way, without really being aware of what she was doing. A child out of a bottle? It was even more unlikely than her friend's comment of magic. It would probably involve some magic too, and what were the chances of that? She didn't notice the stop in time, or that the sun was in the same spot in the sky since she nearly dropped her bottle.
"I was just killing time 'till work." She said finally. "We can go sit down somewhere." She looked around for a bench and started walking towards the closest one, fully awake now that something had caught her interest. "Oh! by the way. my name is Rynn." She said suddenly. Then with the formality she had forgotten out of the way, she jumped back to the topic at hand. "What do you mean a child? How could that happen?"

Hale chuckled slightly, reading her expression. She thought it was just as absurde as he did, but with the powers his bottle was displaying, and Sojo's proof of his powress, Hale had no reason to disbelieve the notion.
"You'll have lots of time before work," he said, pointing to her watch to indicate that it had stopped entirely as he turned and headed for an empty bench in a nearby park. "My name is Hale, I work as a Host downtown during the night hours," he said, introducing himself fully after she finished her questioning.
"I wasn't given too many details, but I recieved enough proof that there is such a power in this world," he said, cheeks tinging a slight pink but quickly disappearing as he thought briefly of Sojo. "Sorry, but I can't answer such a thing, My Lady," he smiled charmingly but apologetically.

She looked down at her watch when he indicated it, surprised. It had been fine this morning... The meaning behind his words struck her and she froze. It was impossible. Absolutely impossible. "Your bottle stopped time?" She looked down at her own bottle in amazement. Surely her watch had just broken... She would find out later, when she went to work, wouldn't she. If her watch started working again later, she would know he was telling the truth.
If it was real... magic. Then what would her bottle be able to do? besides it's strange connection to the sun she didn't have many clues... And it would become a child.
Her mouth suddenly felt dry. how would she support a child? She didn't want one yet. She wasn't ready yet. Rynn clamped down on the moment of panic. She did have extra money, and her apartment had two bedrooms. she could manage. She forced herself to concentrate on facts. The more she knew the better... Though apparently Hale didn't know much. Still, she felt slightly reassured by Hale's smile. For now she would believe him. "Who... made these?"

Hale sat back on the bench and observed the young woman; she seemed like she was single and living alone, though judgning by the bit of hair on her clothes, Hale assumed she had a cat. Holding a pet showed a certain amount of responsibility. He smiled, "Yes, my bottle stops time, even threw me back half a day yesterday when I found it," he mused, looking up at the sky as the clouds floated by. "The power only seemes to affect people and things within its area, though I don't know just how big that is," he explained, pointing out that the clouds were still moving and the park's fountain was still flowing, but the castle clock tower that was visible from their position had not moved a milimetre.
"Has your bottle displayed any unusual activity?" he asked, looking at her finally. He watched her as her mind apparently worked over the thought of supporting a child; he imagined he had had i similar look yesterday when Sojo told him about it. "If I had to say, I think it may have been Sojo, or someone he knows," Hale replied, it was the only answer he had for her, "Sojo is a God I met, hence why I believe this crazy notion of children coming for bottles of strange magical dust," he added with a bit of a laugh.

Oh. Well. That explained why he believed it. Rynn, though a skeptic, wasn't so stubborn to say it was impossible when things like the town clock froze. Now that she had decided to believe him, she would believe everything- for now- and sort through her own thoughts later when she had the time. Hale was a very charming person, the kind that was almost an act. (and he did say he was a host, didn't he?) However Rynn felt that he was telling the truth.
She thought carefully about his question, thinking about all the oddities she had noticed. "Well... The light inside fluctuates depending on the time of day. It's brightest just when the sun dawns, and then slowly dims over the course of the day. It's barely visible in the hour or so before the sun rises. That's the only thing that isn't immediately noticeable, I think. I mean, an undying flame inside an airtight bottle is pretty strange already. " Though if one stopped time, she would have to be on the lookout for differences in her life that weren't readily connected to the bottle.
"That must have been weird." She smiled slightly in amusement. "Being thrown back half a day without knowing what is going on." She could barely imagine what it would have been like, but it must have been confusing.

"Hrmm," Hale thought for a few minutes, "So it's connected to the sun and is strongest at dawn? Mabye that's your essence, Dawn," he said, but then his brow furrowed a little as he thought about it more, "It would explain the light, but not the fire and the feather," he said.
He chuckled at her comment, "Oh yes," he mused, "I'm still quite lost and confused too," he said, "Though, it worked out because I was able to be at home whe the movers arrived to drop off my stuff." He looked to the clock tower again, "Sojo said something about them reacting to the owner's heart, or at least that mine was trying to help me with what my heart desires," he said, "I just worry that if someone evil happens across a bottle that has this kind of power, what would it help him or her achieve?"
The man appeared to be in deep thought for some time, "Oh well, I guess we just have to make sure no body bad gets these, but I have a feeling that that is part of Sojo's job too," he said reassuing himself.

Rynn nodded. Any sort of power could be misused, and far too often was. "Maybe it's partially their own responsibility, if they choose their owners? " She wondered. "Maybe the gods are controlling it though. I wonder why they were made..." She trailed off. Why did a god create them anyways? was it a whim? Rynn thought that they must have an important purpose, though she couldn't imagine what. to help the specific people that got them seemed... off somehow. or at least, not the full reason, even if it was part of it. She wondered how hers would help her.
"Somehow, I don't think it's dawn." Rynn said finally. "I feel like it's staring me in the face and I'm too blind to see it." She frowned. "Like it should be pretty obvious." it was a nagging sort of feeling, like hearing a song you know you've heard before but cannot for the life of you remember where. Rynn hated that feeling. "I'll figure it out eventually... " Her thoughts jumped around a bit, trying to find something else to focus on. "So... what is Sojo like? It must be interesting knowing a god."

Hale frowned at her words, he knew the reason, Sojo had made it clear to him. "The gods, they would destroy them if they knew about them I would suppose," he said seriously, his eyes narrowing and a sharp, serious look came to his face, one that was unusual for him, but suited him none-the-less. "Sojo told me that he was charged with wiping out the human race," he said, "but he's working against the gods and going against his orders and tying to save us instead." Hale looked up at the young woman and studied her carefully, worried that she might overreact.
"Well, you have three clues," he said, happy to change the subject, "Dawn, fire, and birds," he pointed out. He blinked and then smirked with a look or realisation, "Dawn can symbolise eternal life, or new life, stick that in with a bird of fire and what do you get?" he prodded, not wanting to tell the girl what he was thinking rigth off the bat.

She blinked in surprise, not sure what to say about that. She was very, very glad this Sojo hadn't followed his orders. And so she was now part of a rebellion against the gods? What would her friend say to that? Probably best not to mention it too much then. She was happy to rebel if the alternative was death. So Yes, they had a very important purpose. And she was very happy when he switched back to the topic of her bottle.
"a bird of fire...." her mind went blank for a moment, and then... "Oh!" Rynn smacked herself in the forehead. "I knew it was something obvious." She had been over thinking, hadn't she. Paying too much attention to the light and not enough to the feather. " I kind of dismissed the feather, because I thought at first that someone had rigged some sort of strange lights inside, so the shape wasn't important." The words tumbled out of Rynn's mouth, in an embarrassed tone. It hadn't taken him long to figure it out.
Sheepishly Rynn smiled. "Thats kind of nice though. A symbol of hope, isn't it? symbols like that are especially nice in light of... well... their purpose..." Rebelling against the gods... she shivered. "So, since they will become children, and your child will have some sort of power over time, I'm going to assume that my child will have some of the powers of a phoenix." Well... this would be interesting.
