I was telling my friend about a time I cried. What had happened was my neighboor's dogs got out of their pens. the breed of dog I do not know but they were bred for one thing: killing other canines. Well they decided to explore the backpen and my two oldest dogs saw them and went over to get rid of them, because they didn't belong here and we didn't want them here. It took us hours to find our dogs, but when we did they were beating to the point we almost didn't know it was them and it was obvious they had both bled to death where we found them. I went to talk to a school consular hoping she could help me but she only made me cry more. Long story short my friend called me weak because I cried over a loss. I know it was just dogs but they were my family. Does that really make me weak?

Be an example to your men, in your duty and in private life. Never spare yourself, and let the troops see that you don't in your endurance of fatigue and privation.
Crying is simply a release of emotional stress. Emotions are the weakness. It's emotions that have us do things that are not logical.
I'm not calling you weak though.
Always be tactful and well-mannered and teach your subordinates to do the same. Avoid excessive sharpness or harshness of voice, which usually indicates the man who has shortcomings of his own to hide.

I'd be worried if you didn't cry. "Just dogs" don't deserve vicious abuse, no sentient creature does. Seeing such happen to someone you care about is bound to cause emotional disturbance. Tears show you care.

You're not calling me weak, yet crying is a release of emotional stress and emotions are weaknesses? And you're not calling me weak? Am I the only one confused on that logic?

Ok I'll rephrase that then. You are no weaker than any other person with emotions. better?

I've been a lifeless zombie before and to be honest, I'd rather be a cry-baby than a zombie.

It depends on the reason and you had a pretty good reason to so I wouldn't think of it as weak in that situation. If it was for no reason then I would think of it as a weakness.
