StatsNameNames are kinda like a stat, right? Your name is a name. It's not your real name, your family nickname, the name of your roleplay character, or even the name of your great-grandmother. Your name is your Gaia account name. If you want to change your name, your only hope is to pretend your name is something else, in which case your name is still your account name.
ClassYou are allowed to pick any class you want. All classes have no statistic bonuses or penalties. They do not come with specialized skills or unique items. The only advantage between different classes is that you are exactly the class you want to be. You are not allowed to multiclass, but you can change your class anytime you level up.
HapHap is vital to your existance here. Not happy? Bye-bye! This stat is measures physical aliveness and morale and stuff. Boof and Hap are like buddies, because you can upgrade your Hap pretty quickly with Boof. Your Hap goes up a little automatically every level. You can't spend points on Hap, though. Bummer. Wait, no! Stay happy! For god's sake
if you want to live stay happy! gonk
MubMub is actually not as gross as it sounds. Mub makes the world go 'round. For magicians, that is. You need Mub to cast spells. Mub is like the lowly apprentice of Zap, because Zap increases your Mub every so often. Mub goes up 1 every two levels. If you want to become a dedicated spell caster, get Zapping, son! (daughter?) Otherwise, don't worry about it.
PowPow is the ability to bring the hurt in every physical manner possible. Those guys on American Gladiator? They have tons of Pow. If you play sports, there's a good chance you're one of the people that have some Pow. Lucky jerk.
Pow is the physical attack stat. You can roll with your raw score, no weapon required. The accuracy of Pow attacks depends on your Fwoosh, and especially high Boof scores will almost eliminate damage entirely. There are some abilites you can buy that rely on Pow and add neat effects. Pow has a Base Damage that upgrades every 3 points until 100, then every 5.
ZapZap is magic and the state of being awesome enough to control it. You know how that one blue wizard guy was all YOU SHALL NOT PASS and totally opened the earth and had an epic magic battle and then he
came back? That's Zap. In Soviet Russia, Zap controls
you, but we're not in Soviet Russia, so it's all good.
Zap is your magic stat. Zap is the core of all spells that you learn. You can roll a natural Zap attack, but it's wildly inaccurate. Buy a spell or two to help you focus your Zap. Even then, magic is a little less accurate than Pow attacks, but can have all sorts of cool effects. MP upgrades every 5 until 100 Zap, then it upgrades every 7. Zap has a Base Damage that upgrades every 3 until 100, then every 5.
FwooshFwoosh is all about being incredibly fast and dextrious. Oh, and being really cool. You know The Matrix? If you plan on being Fwooshy, you have to see it. There's so much Fwoosh your eyes will bleed. Fwoosh's greatest advantage is being the stat with the most letters in it. Isn't that awesome? Fwoosh is so cool.
Fwoosh is both your ability to dodge and your ability to hit the enemy. Dodging is calculated before all else in an attack. Fwoosh can negate an attack or help you hit an enemy who is extra quick.
BoofBoof is the ability to take a beating and still keep going. Some people think this is the same as Pow, but it's totally not. I mean, a turtle has mad Boof, but honestly, most turtles have no Pow to their name at all. It's totally different, and if you argue, I'll tell my dad and he'll beat your dad up.
Boof is the defense stat. This will be rolled against an aggressor's Pow. A good Boof score will almost eliminate an enemy's attack, save for a few points of chipping damage. HP upgrades every 5 Boof until 100 Boof, and then it upgrades every 7.Everyone starts with 5 in Pow, Zap, Fwoosh, and Boof.
Leveling UpLeveling up your character in DFRPG is easy. All you have to do is post.
For every 20 posts you make, you gain a level. Everytime you level up, you have 3 points that you can spend on Pow, Zap, Fwoosh, or Boof. You can also change your class, but only once per level.
You are not allowed to pointlessly spam to raise your level. That's what fights are for.
Yeah, you heard me. Fights. I'm just about to get to the good part.
CombatNow this is the good stuff. This is where all that junk above comes into play. There are two types of combat: PvP and Mob fights. We'll cover basic PvP first.
To begin the fight, the challenger begins a combat thread (either in the Central Forum or the DFRPG forum) titled "(challenger's name) vs (target's name)".
First is the To Hit roll. The attacking player rolls 1d20 (pow) or 1d15* (zap). Defender rolls a d10. Add this number to your Fwoosh. If the attacker's score is higher, the attack hits, and you continue to roll the attack. If the defender's score is higher, the attack is ignored.
When an attack lands, it's time to roll the attacker's Pow/Zap vs. the defender's Boof. Attacker rolls d20, Defender rolls d12, and add to their Pow/Zap/Boof.
If the attacker's score is higher, the full attack goes through and does their Base Damage.
If the defender's score is higher, the majority of the attack is ignored. The defender still takes 10% of the damage (Chipping damage), rounded down. If that number is below 1, the Chipping is also ignored.
After an attack has been dodged or followed through, the defender becomes the attacker. This loop continues until one player yields or has their HP depleted to 0.
* d15= generate random number from 1-15.
When a PvP starts, the challenged player has only three days maximum to retaliate! If they do nothing and those four days are up, the challenger is automatically the winner!*
*Captain/Crew decision overrules this. If someone had to leave for a while and announced it, don't be a jerk and attack them. You won't get anything for it.Mob fights are basically the same, but against monsters created by Crew. They will be declared in a way similar to "[Mob] A Mob Appears!" Anyone can take on a Mob as long as they're the first one to make their opening post and attack it. For the sanity of those running the game, only one player may have an ongoing battle in a mob thread at a time. The Captain or a Crew will roll for the mob. You can not start a fight with any other mobs until your current fight is complete.
