September 16, 2005 - The Suikoden series has gotten some mixed responses from followers in the latest two chapters, but the first two games on the original PlayStation are revered by role-playing gamers. Konami quietly announced at TGS 2005 that those two games will be coming to the PlayStation Portable in a combo pack, possibly with improvements to the game engine.
Genso Suikoden I & II were announced by way of a PSP playing in a cased-off kiosk that you passed while in line for the big Konami video room. There's not much information on the PSP game yet, just a title and a short video about the game. The video reel showed off new cinematics, utilizing an anime style drawn more as a moving comic book than an animated cartoon. Some fly-bys interjected in the middle of the clip may have been realtime, and showed 3D design as the game passed over castles and other quick locals, but we're not sure yet if the visual style has been changed for the PSP version or if we can expect the same graphics from the PlayStation here.
Suikoden I & II is still in the early stages of development for PSP, and hasn't been announced for release in America yet (put the GensoSuikoGaiden card games on there or in a double-disc release in America and you will make one Jeremy Dunham a very happy man). We'll have more on it later when Konami is ready to show the game more fully.
