Most mornings Sascher-tort enjoyed wandering around the area of the island immediately near her human's home before her human woke. The breezes on the island were pleasant enough that her human almost always left the windows open, and so it was no difficulty for her to leap up to the windowsil, and then jump to the ground below and outside. She began her morning constitutional by sniffing at the doors to the household and the corners of the building, both to make sure of its unique scent and to reassure herself that no strange, feral palui had attempted to make their home in her territory.
After her inital round of the property she wandered farther afield, outside of the territory she considered indisputably hers and into more neutral ground, where she occasionally encountered other interesting beings. If the beings were larger than she, her reaction was usually to flee to the safety of home and her human, but if not she might be inclined to toy with them, or perhaps to play with them, but she was skittish and spooky enough to start and bolt at the drop of a whisker.
She did not consider herself an outdoor palui, and she thought of these strolls as tame adventures, and she enjoyed them perfectly well as long as nothing too exciting happened.

(Oh, btw, I got the confirmation from Lei that Palu can at least speak whole words with one another x3 I assumed it but thought it'd be cute to "Palu" around in thread, plus I wanted to be sure before having them speak xD)
Seda was happily chasing butterflies, greeting each new human she met with enthusiasm. Her human had left her to take care of the house while she was gone and Seda took much pride in watching the front door. She wasn't quite a "guard" animal being big and ferocious, but she was very attentive and would usually distract any intruders by cutely showing them some game she was playing. She had a very protective nature though and would've been quite forceful with anyone who attempted entry.
She was murmuring to herself as she rested by the front door, her murmurs sounding like soft purring sounds to human ears, but she was actually half singing half humming to herself. Her human came home and she sat up, smiling brightly, then was surprised to be given a wrapped bundle and charged to take care of that bundle called "brother". Though her human used another word as well "Varius". Seda didn't quite know which to call it so she sat in front of the bundle and nodded, "Varius Brother!" sounding much like an emphatic "Palu" to her human "mother".
Seda nudged at the bundle and wasn't impressed with Varius Brother's lack of interesting qualities. She sniffed and realized something was inside! She pulled at the knotted top and unravelled the bundle, feeling something tumble out. Still holding the blanket end, her eyes went wide. Varius Brother is like me! She danced in place with glee and went round to nuzzle him.
Varius was nervous at first, not knowing what had happened. He remembered feeling safe and snuggled close, then came tumbling onto the ground. He sniffed at Seda and she had the faint same scent as the safe feeling from before, so he relaxed and bit and yawned widely, not realizing Seda was staring down into his mouth, very curious about him in return.

Sasha continued her stroll, leaping and gamboling as she strove to capture some of the small grass moths her passage had disturbed. She did not realize as she played that she was capering farther and farther from her the home she shared with her Aurelie-human. She had, in fact, managed to lose herself, though she did not realize it until she found herself staring at a foreign building which she was certain she had never seen before. It smelled terrifyingly alien and unfamiliar, but she knew she had no choice but to approach, because she had no hope of getting home unassisted. She would have to trust the kindness of strangers.
She drew nearer the house and scratched politely at the door, and then yowled an imperios "Paolu!" which demanded to be allowed entrance. Whatever human lived here would be able to read the tag on her collar and would return her home. Aurelie-human had told her many times that the reason she had to wear a collar which mussed her fur was so she could be taken home again if she ever got lost. She understood the intent of the words, though many of the actual words escaped her. She had lived with her human for some time, but her human used so many different words, it was difficult to understand all of them.
"Hello?" she called, doing more than just making noise for human ears. This was meant for palui ears. "Can someone hear me?"

Seda smiled brightly as Varius seemed more comfortable around her. She watched as he purred a bit when her human came to pet him and murmur things to him. Was I ever that small? Her "mother" went to go rest next to the house, watching them both as she usually did this time of day. Seda gave a cooing "Palu' of excitement at her new Varius Brother. She quite nearly thought he was just another toy or possession for her to take care of and protect.
Seda's ears perked at an unfamiliar voice seeming to be in trouble. She turned to her human mother to see if it was alright to go and then walked a few steps from them to search the area, "I can hear you. Are you alright?"
Varius cooed and purred when being handled by his mother and sister, not sure yet what was happening but he felt safe and that's all that mattered for now. He peeped his eyes open halfway, trying to get used to the light and saw Seda's back to him, calling out to someone.

Sasha slunk around the side of the house, creeping toward the other palui's voice, her tail and belly very low to the ground, and her ears barely cresting the tall grasses. She advanced until the wind blew in the correct direction and she could smell the other palui whose voice she heard.
"I'm not hurt," she called back, walking slowly into view. "My name is Sascher-tort. I live with Aurelie-human somewhere in the direction of Sun-Comes-Up."

Seda smiled, her leafy tail making rustling sounds, she was always happy to meet someone new. "My name is Seda. Do you need any help? I'm not sure what I can do, but I'll try my best." Her voice rang true and clear, she meant what she said. All the while Seda was trying to think where "Sun-Comes-Up" might be, she knew the sun came up every day, though only from one side, then went to sleep on the opposite side. Maybe the other palu lived closer to where the sun came up from?
Varius had fallen to sleep, comforted knowing Seda was close, he was in a very light catnap of sorts, still half listening to the sounds around him.

Sasha studied Seda intently from a distance, taking note of her unusual floral aspects. She had never before seen a palui - or any animal - which was also a plant. It was intriguing. She walked close enough to give a sniff-nose greeting to Seda. She was very interested to know what Seda's personal scent was, based on her unusual physiology. She would not, however smell the scent glands which should be at the base of Seda's tail until she was more familiar with the other palui. That would be rude. So she sniffed delicately at the air near Seda's nose, picking up the scent from the glands along her chin and jawline. The scent was unique, a combination of animal and vegetable, the vegetable being sharp and spicy at once, and the animal being the more familiar scent of a female palui, though this was all relative, since Sasha had never before met another palui.
"I may have mis-remembered how I got here," she said in response to Seda's query, unwilling to admit that she was lost. She hurried to say, "I'm not worried, of course, but my Aurelie-human might be. I do not usually wander so long, or so far."
Fey's note: Yeah. Sun-Comes-Up equals east.

(I figured as much, but couldn't really figure out how it might interpret to Seda... ^^;; Fey is better at it than me x3 lol)
Seda allowed herself to be sniffed at and did the same in turn, just enough to know that Sasha wasn't harmful or malicious. There was a gentle, comforting quality about her, yet something free-spirited as well. Seda's tail rustled in approval, "Well, we should see about getting you home then. I know I wouldn't want my human mother to worry for me either." She turned her head from left to right, then straight into the sky to see where the sun was at the moment and gave a small purring sound in the back of her throat, then nodded towards the east, "When the sun comes up here, it crests just over those trees. That would be the direction to go." She smiled, "You must be hungry though? Come sit a while and I can help you get back after if you'd like."

Sasha looked in the direction Seda had indicated. She could probably find her way back, knowing that. She had lost track of the sun in the forest, and it had turned her around. Her sense of direction was not wonderful.
"I am hungry," she admitted. "And I would enjoy sitting a little."
Her tail swished as she came to the conclusion she approved of Seda. It was only hospitable to offer a traveller sustenance before sending her on her way. And it was companionable to share conversation, too. This was the proper way of doing things.

Seda's face lit up with the most pleased expression and nodded, "Great! You should come meet my Varius Brother. I take care of him." She giggled and motioned for Sasha to join her near Varius and his blanket. As she started to walk in his direction she nodded in the direction of her mother, "I'll ask her for some food once you find a nice spot to sit. There's nothing too formal but I want to help keep an eye on my Varius Brother also. My mother placed him into my protection." She puffed out her chest just a tiny bit at that, she felt so proud to be asked for such an important task.

Sasha followed Seda and looked with interest at a young palui who rested near a blanket, to which he seemed to have a proprietary claim. She surveyed the area and found herself a nice portion of springy grass to sit on. She kneaded the place briefly with her paws and tried not to think of fleas, ticks, or other things which crawl in the dirt and grass. Then she eased herself into a meatloaf-shaped resting crouch with her plume-like tail tucked neatly around her forepaws.
"It's a great responsibility," she acknowledged in a soothing purr. "I'm sure you're an admirable protector for him. His name is Varius?"

Seda nodded to her new friend, "Thank you! Yes, my mother called him that, but she also called him brother, I've never heard that word before from her. So I guess he has two names?" She maneuvered herself to a seated position besides Varius where she could still face her friend to talk. Her sitting was more for respect of their conversation but she wasn't allowing herself to be comfortable just yet, wanting to make sure Sasha was alright first. Watching Sasha relax brought a twinkle into Seda's eyes, reminiscent of amusement. She also enjoyed resting as such so it pleased her to know others found it very comfortable as well.
A part of Varius knew Seda had returned close beside him and he purred under his breath as he dozed, ears flicking back and forth as they spoke to one another. It seemed he was trying to tune into their words while trying to nap at the same time.

"Maybe," Sasha agreed doubtfully. Human language was much more complicated than the language in which the palui conversed, and she understood very little of it, but she knew words which sounded the same tended to have similar meanings, and since brother sounded like mother, maybe the two were related?
"Your human keeps a very pleasant yard," she remarked politely, sniffing a blade of grass and keeping a watchful eye on Varius, unsure what to expect from a young palui. "My Aurelie-human does not care for her yard. She lets it grow wild. It is a little like being in a jungle sometimes. I hunt and stalk there, usually. Today I wandered farther afield."

Seda appreciated the compliment and was very pleased that her new friend found it comfortable, if different. "Let me go see about some food, I'll be right back." Her face lit up in a smile that creased the corner of her eyes before bounding away and pawing at her mother, using a particularly inquiring voice. Her human only knew that such movements meant she was hungry and chuckled before getting up to leave. To other Palus she said, "Please mother, can you get some food?"
Her ears perked happily and she cantered back to Sasha before taking a seat more comfortably this time. "I suppose having so many humans close by there's a need for it to be tended more? Do you have many humans near your home?" She smiled thinking on what it might be like to have the yard be taller all the time and couldn't help giggling. "Taller grass must be splendid! Like forever being in the meadow. There is one in the direction where you live, you might have passed it by?"
Varius popped open one eye, then went to snuggle closer to Seda, enjoying the feeling of safety and security she provided. He yawned making a funny "Paru" sound as he did so.

At Varius' movement, Sasha's head jerked back, snake-like, before she settled once more, tucking her paws underneath her body. She was spooky and skittish, she knew. Her Aurelie-human made joking noises at her for it, but Things Happened. Usually to the unaware palui. To restore her calm, she twisted a bit and licked at her shoulder.
"Thank you," she said to Seda, referring to the procurement of food. "I did notice a meadow, after a fashion, but I was stalking grass moths, and as you know, the Hunt does demand one's full attention."
Her tailtip twitched as she considered the thrill of the hunt, but she smiled and stilled her tail with a firm thought in its direction. It frequently behaved as though it had a mind of its own.
"Very few humans live near me, which is why I find myself a little uncomfortable being in a place with humans. Aurelie-human seems to like the isolation, and I enjoy the longer grass. And the trees. There are lots of trees. When I was younger I would climb them, but I have since found other diversions to pursue. Ones which cause my human less grief."
Marginally less grief, if she was going to be honest, but there was no need to go into too much detail. Polite conversation did not require deep excavations from one's personal life.
