Abacus drummed his fingers on the table, his eyes locked on the book before him. It was lunch time, and the journeyman was using the time for some extra studying. He took a moment to bite the apple he held in his off-hand, his drumming halting long enough to turn the page before picking up again. The large picture dominating half the book showed a monster, betraying the subject he was studying -- it was a book on monsters, and looked to be one that covered most of the known types.
The apple was set down as a frown creased his brow. "Hmm," he murmured, wiping his hand on his pant leg before turning the book back several pages to re-read a previous entry. "That's not it," he noted to himself before turning several more pages, trying to find an entry. "Aha! Here it -- ah, no relation at all. Hm." With that, he turned to the page he was on previously and continued to read, picking up his apple and chomping down once again.

Yalitza sat at her on table, with a book also open. But it wasn't a reading book, it was actually one of her sketch books. She was humming to herself as she works on a people of Cashimer. He was the newest person she met, and so his looks were pretty embedded into her head. Pausing for a moment, she chews on her bottom lip as she tilts her head. Something wasn't right about the face, but she couldn't figure it out.
Setting the pencil down, she lifts her hands above her hands to flex. She been drawing for awhile now, and she could feel her fingers trying to lock up on her. With a sigh, she closes her sketch book as she looks at her food. She wasn't all that hungry, but she didn't want to skip the meal. She been doing that alot lately.
Picking up her drink instead, she take a sip from it. Her eyes looking around the room, just seeing who was all here today.

Abacus continued to study his book, unaware of Yalitza a couple tables away. His choice of food was simple: an apple, a drink, and some crumbs that hinted at a sandwhich of some sort, or perhaps they were the remains of a cookie or two. Of course, these would soon be swept away into a napkin and thrown, leaving it a mystery to be solved (unless of course someone was watching the entire time and knew for certain what they were, in which case they would be a stalker of some sort).
The apple was set down again, before hastily being caught and rearranged on his napkin as it attempted to pivot and roll to one side. He fussed with it for another moment, waiting until the apple could stand on its own before using his pants yet again as a napkin. The boy stood up and stepped back from the table, aiming at the book carefully before snapping a picture. He then sat down and resumed eating, as if the bright flash that flew out from his camera never happened.

The bright flash out of the corner of Yalitza's eye caught her attention, as she wasn't expecting it at all. Turning her head, she blinks as she looks over towards the other student. He wasn't someone she knew, but she seen him in a couple of classes she been in. He was the one that was always taking pictures of everything around him.
Gathering her items up, she set them into her bag before she threw away her lunch. Moving towards the table Abacus was sitting at, she pauses before taking a deep breath. Walking up next to the table, she smiles alittle "Hi, sorry to bother you. But I couldn't help but wonder what you were taking a picture of with your camera." her hands rest on the waistband of her pants.
The fact that he like to capture things in a different form made him interesting to her. She like to capture people through her drawings, while he capture them in picture. So maybe they would be able to find something in common.

Abacus picked up his apple and held it, preoccupied with the text on the page. He blinked and looked up when Yalitza approached him, offering a smile to her. "Hello! C'mon, sit down," he offered, setting his apple down to turn the book towards her. He tapped the page, saying, "I just wanted to remember the information here. Remember Nata'ala? The Bael that Professor Lelaus showed us in Animal Care?" He remembered seeing here there for Graphtas' entrance and questions, and had seen her around -- but didn't know her name. "I'm hoping to learn enough about the Bael in order to own one -- this book has fascinating information on them and other monsters, and having a picture of this will help me remember the information better."
He ran his hand through his hair, and offered an apologetic grin. "Sorry, I got a bit carried away there. My name's Abacus -- I'm a photographer, and currently an assistant to professor Raelyn. Yourself?"

Taking a seat, Yalitza chuckles as she nods alittle "Indeed I do, a rather intriguing creature it was." with a small tilt of her head, her long blue hair moves over her shoulder as she glances at the book. "Ah, so that explain why I couldn't find this book. I'll have to check the Library out later. Seems I wasn't the only one who wanted to learn more it seems." setting her bag down onto the ground, she sets her hands on the table.
"I'm Yalitza, but Yali to some. Currently an assistant to Professor Nolan. Its a pleasure to finally meet you Abacus." pausing she chuckles slightly "I've seen you in class, but actually never tried to say hello."

"Ah! Really?" He looked down at the book, then back at her with his brow creased slightly. "That's odd, there's multiple teacher's references... Oh! Daggart might have another copy, and maybe Cyphr too -- we're all working on getting our trainer's certificates for monsters," he explained, then offered a sheepish grin. "Is there a monster in particular you're interested in?"
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Yalitza," he replied. "To Nolan? Wow! He's huge for an Empyrean, isn't he?" He added, grinning at the memory of the banquet.
"Ah, don't worry about that," he replied, dismissing her statement with the wave of his hand. "I sit up near the front to get a clear picture, just in case something interesting happens. Of course, that's also where the professors tend to look for answers the most... It's a win-lose situation."

With a small shrugs she smiles "I might have missed a copy then. But if everyone is trying to get their trainer's certificate, then it doesn't surprise me." glancing back down at the book she nods alittle. She had a few monsters in mind that she wanted to take a look act, but then she didn't want to steal the book away from Abacus either. With a small shake of her head, she leans back alittle "A ton, but I don't mind waiting. I have a few books in my room that I located again. I'll gather some notes from them before returning them."
At the mention of Nolan, Yalitza nods as a grin forms "Indeed, when I saw him, my eyes got rather big. But I like working under him, there is never a dull moment." pulling out her sketch book, she set it down in front of her, before she grabs a shading pencil.
Flipping to the last page she was on, she turns the image towards him "I mostly sit in the back, it gives me a chance to draw in between notes. Sadly though, I think I have thew lighting on this picture wrong. It just doesn't seem to capture Cashimer correctly." with s shrug, she continues to look at it "So if you don't mind me asking, what all have you taken pictures of?"

Abacus nodded, then shrugged. "Considering how interesting Lelaus' class was, it doesn't surprise me." He grinned, adding, "Personally I'd like to specialize in the Bael -- they're an intriguing creature, but I bet there'll be more monsters that will capture my attention the more I learn. Are you thinking about becoming a hunter?"
"Ahh, I see," he replied. "What do you do? My work's mostly focused on taking pictures of the various professors." He grinned, then turned to his messenger bag and pulled out a book. Abacus turned and looked at her sketchbook, then shook his head. "I've seen that person around," he confessed, "But let's see..." He flipped open the book he pulled out and flipped it open, showing her a picture of another Emprean. "Perhaps this could help? It's roughly the same lighting."
Abacus hummed softly, thinking of how to phrase it. "I take pictures of... well, what strikes me as important. Other people, professors, or objects that happen to be nearby when an important event happens. I... have this skill, or memory trick where if I look at a picture, I can recall exactly what happened at the moment the picture was taken."

Yalitza glances over the photo before she nods. After comparing the two images, she was seeing where she made her mistake "I think I might see what I did wrong. Thank you for letting me see this picture." looking up at Abacus, she gives him a smile "And yes, actually I am thinking about becoming a hunter. I have Lelaus' class to thank for that. It made me want to learn everything I can."
Looking back don at the photo, Yalitza shakes her head before she chuckles "You have raw talent to capture beauty. But to remember it, that special Abacus. Truly something I wish I could do." lifting the picture up carefully not to damage it, she hands it back towards him.
"So beside Lelaus' class and taking picture, what else to you like to do?"

"Hey, it's no problem," he replied cheerfully, then grinned and nodded in agreement. "Yeah, if it weren't for the professor I probably wouldn't have known about the Bael unless I ran across one. That is, unless it's hidden. Then I'd be left with a mysterious humming noise."
He shook his head and held his hands up in mock surrender. "Ah! There's nothing to it, really," he confessed, nevermind the blush that formed across his cheeks. "I just point my camera and click, really." He then nodded to her sketchbook, then gestured with his hand, "Now that to me is beauty. I wouldn't be able to draw anything like that if asked."
Abacus leaned back in his chair after he returned the photo to his album, drumming his fingers on the table before reaching for his drink and taking a sip. "Mmm, not much aside from studying. Kallisto was kind enough to teach me how to spar -- er, she's a stage one sanguine, by the way." He opened his book and turned the pages, then stopped to tap a photo of a rather intimidating sanguine kinsthetic in black and red armor. "She gave me a rather... direct lesson," he admitted, grinning and rubbing one of his shoulders. "Afterwards I spent the rest of the day resting, haha! It's fun if you don't mind the aches you get after."
"What about yourself? I take it that you're an artist...?"

Looking over the picture of Kallisto, she tilts her head before she flips her the pages of her sketch book. Pausing, she points to the full page of Kallisto "I remember her in this stage, however I haven't seen her since then. She must have transcended." looking over the photo carefully, she made note of the new additions. She would have to sketch them in later on the page she has open.
Looking up, Yalitza cheeks darken before she shrugs "I dabble in drawing, but its not really a passion of mine. I draw just for fun really, just something to do so I can relax when I get stressed out." running her finger over the edge of the page, she tilts her head for a brief second "What is sparring like? Is it fun?" she was only curious because she remember Drokk always talking about sparring.

Abacus looked, blinking in amazement. "Whoa! Transcending brings a lot of change, doesn't it? She looks... well, less deadly to me. Might be the bows, though." He grinned, then brightened up. "Hey! Want me to take your picture? That way you'd, y'know, be able to see how you change over time!"
He nodded in understanding. "Ahh, I see! You're good at dabbling!" He joked, giving her a broad wink. "I should look into perfecting my photography... It's just point and click, but there's a lot of subtle things about it that require practice."
"Sparring..." He trailed off, considering his answer. "It's a workout -- you have to give it your all. I like it since it's another way to work off the extra energy, but at the same time it comes with its own fair share of bruises. Those ache for a day or two, and then you get a nice bruise that hangs around for a week or so. Are you looking into learning how to spar?"

Yalitza looks between the two images of Kallisto, fully agreeing with Abacus. Kallisto in her second stage look pretty deadly, more so with the blades coming out of her shoulders. Hearing the word picture, she looks up blinking a few times "A picture of me? You sure I won't break the camera?" she chews on her bottom lip before looking down at her image again. She never found herself attractive compared to the girls she seen around the halls or classrooms. She was a plain Jane, in many ways.
"Actually yes I am looking into learning how to spar. Just in case I ever get caught in a fight, I want to be ready." in truth after the lovers duel she really wanted to see how well she would do. It look like fun, and just a great way to become stronger.

"Well I can't exactly take a picture of the back of your head or your shoes," he joked, "What if your eyes change? Wouldn't it be cool to see how far you've come? And -" Abacus grabbed his camera and raised it, quickly shooting a picture of her before continuing, "See? It's still kicking! Nothing can break this thing, except maybe a heavy rock."
He nodded, "Yeah, I know what you mean. So far, I know a lot of defensive moves, but between my kicks and punches... I'm best at punching things. Hopefully if I go up against a monster it won't gnaw my hand off, y'know?" He laughed, then shrugged. "I highly recommend getting it tutored, one-on-one. That way, your teacher can stop and tell you what's working and what you need to change -- like if your kick isn't striking as hard as it could, or how to block."
