Ah, the day was barely ending barely ending and the twins were rising. Limbs stretching they puled themselves from where they had slept the day away, well more Nikolas then Kristopher. He had been awake during the day from time to time, watching over their newest little fledgling. Nikolas looked toward his brother and the young filly, it had only been a couple days since they pulled her away from her family. This brought new smiles to his face.
"Wakey wakey. Time to rise and shine." Nikolas stated as he looked up toward the darkening skies.
Kris yawned as she stretched, the hourly awakenings during the day had left him a bit on the drowsy side of things, though he stood and stretched. The crisp night air caressing his body like a mother's love. Ah it was going to be a glorious night and he wasn't going to sleep it away.
"I do think it is time to move on Brother. This place doesn't feel like home anymore." Kris gave a mocking pout as he looked toward Ijn, wondering of how she was going to cope with being away from her family. "We shall find another, better place to rest by dawn." Kris nodded to his brother.
"Of course, one that will suit all our needs. Even a place to train our Fledgling the ways of the night so that she might be able to survive on her own in due time." This he looked pointedly toward Ijn, "Right? Little sister?"

Ijn had been awake for a few hours already simply sitting and waiting for the two stallions to open there eyes. When she heard the first signs of them waking she got to her feet, and watched. Staying asleep through the day was proving to be a bit hard for her but she could tell it was doable. It would just take some work.
She stretched her legs a few times before walking over to her waking guardians. She paused hearing what Kris said. They were leaving? She knew that she had said there would be no problems moving from place to place but she wasn't so sure she really agreed with herself anymore. She liked where they were at. She said nothing getting the feeling that even if she stayed they would go.
Her eyes sparkled, for the first time at something Nik said. "Little sister?" She looked and sounded completely thrilled. Moving meant absolutely nothing anymore.

"Why of course, you're family now." Nik nodded as Ijn's question. "As a family we are one, moving like the shadows always chasing the light. Moving and weaving, dodging and sweeping in one fluent motion."
Kristopher chuckled at his brother as he stepped over to Ijn preening her mane a bit. His own mane still held bits and pieces of whatever earth he had laid on during the day. Nik had already shaken the stuff from his coat in mane. Though Kris had to grin at his brother's way with words, they were like one and soon the three of them would be moving like one through the shadows and always chasing the light keeping it a head of them and not behind.
"As always dear brother. Soon we all will be moving like shadows." Kris agreed as he straightened up. "Now, to find something to eat before we move on." At this he looked down toward Ijn. "You hungry? Or have you already eaten?"
Both Nik and Kris watched Ijn, awaiting her answer. Though Nik was the first to move as he wandered over to where he had known a berry bush had been. Stretching his neck out a little he nosed at the bushes and picked at the berries that grew within the branches. He was hungry and really not really going to wait for everyone to agree. At times he missed the old traditions...

She smiled and tried to picture herself moving as he described but even her imaginary self tripped. She giggled lightly at the image and smiled up at the black stallion as he fixed her mane. Her light laughter slowly died off but her smile remained. It was nice to think that even though she had left her family she had another one. One made up of two big brothers.
"Ummm..." She sounded nervous for no reason at all. "I ate a little." She answered not sure why she felt bad for eating. She had woken up hungry and had found herself a nice breakfast, though she was not sure it could be called that as it was late afternoon when she had eaten.
Her bright eyes watched Nik as he moved away and found herself smiling more. It seemed he didn't want to wait for his food. She didn't blame him. Waking up hungry was not a pleasant feeling. "I could probably have a bit more though..."

Kristopher merely smiled and nodded, his eyes had closed as he did. He wasn't really concerned about her eating before they woke. He had done that a few times in past years while his brother remained asleep, he would wake and find something to eat. Nikolas merely grinned as his tongue cleaned off his fangs from the berries he had been eating.
"If you like, just don't make yourself sick." Kris nodded as he stepped over to join his brother at the berry bush.
"You are much like Kristopher." Nik chuckled as he took hold of a berry branch.
Yanking the branch from the bush, he placed it on the ground where Ijn could take it if she wanted. Turning his head back to the bush himself, he ate a bit more before stretching again, getting the kinks out of his legs. It was a good night to move on. The air still felt a bit tense to him and it was making him uneasy.
"As soon as we're fed and ready to go, we shall move on to a new place. Maybe we'll find a place where little sister can play while we sleep." Nik said thoughtfully. "Perhaps we can find a waterfall with a pool at the base." at this thought he looked toward Ijn for approval...

She nodded and followed after Kris. "I am?" She asked cocking her head to the side not really seeing how. She smiled at the white one and the offered branch and bowed her head. "Thank you." She said before lowering her head. She pulled a few of the berries from it then paused getting an uneasy feeling in her stomach. It seemed she had eaten a bit much earlier.
She didn't want to seem rude and swallowed then simply stared at the branch trying to decide what to do. At the word 'play' she forgot about her little dilemma and focused on what was being said. She liked the idea of having something to do during the hours that they remained asleep. She was not entirely sure what he was talking about though.
She understand what a pool was but the 'waterfall' was a mystery to her. She tilted her head to the side curiously and took a step closer to her brothers. "What is a waterfall?" From the name she could gather that it had something to do with water but how could water fall? Was it clumsy water?

The boys looked toward each other when she asked had what a waterfall was. Had she really been that sectioned off from the world? Nikolas looked down toward the curious Ijn as he smiled, a soft chuckle came from his throat. Kristopher shook his head slightly resisting the urge to laugh, though they treated it like a game.
"I guess we will have to find out." Nikolas chuckled stepping over to Ijn nudging her playfully. "When you see water leaping over a rock face and into a pool. You have found what you seek."
At this Kris did laugh, his head raising with his nose in the air as the laughter came. This was going to be fun, he knew just about where they were going. They had stopped there once before, it was a marvelous place. A clearing such as the one they were in, but grander as on one side there was a towering cliff edge with a waterfall that plunged into a pool beneath it.
"And there if I remember. A secret to the waterfall." This he winked at Nik whom had turned to glare at his brother. "But you will have to find that out when we get there."
Nik watched Kris for a moment before he turned his dark gaze toward the skies as a crispness crept even more into the air. To the point where ones breath could be seen outside ones body. It was time, time to move and leave behind what was to be left. A strange look came over Nikolas as he paced a bit in a circle, soon Kristopher followed in behind him.
"Our pace is normally very fast, little sister. But for tonight and until you are able to keep up with us, our pace will be cut." Nikolas explained as they paced in a tight circle. "Fall in between Kris and I and we shall move on."
Kris slowed his pace back some to allow Ijn to get in between them. legs warm and spirits high in the brothers. The air around them was already warm against the crispness of the night. It was a good night to move and they were looking to slip away from the clearing before anyone could come looking for them...

She smiled laughing a bit at the thought of water jumping over a rock. Her smile grew in size when she heard that the waterfall had a secret. She wondered what it was. Maybe it could dance as well as jump? Her face fell at the sudden thought that if it could jump and dance there was the possibility that it was dangerous. She did her best to remove the thought from her mind. They had not known each other very long but she couldn't imagine them putting her in danger like that. They were...they were...
She paused and gave them an odd look. What were they doing?
"Okay." She said without questioning them. She just assumed that the circling had something to do with leaving though she did not know what. When she was told to go somewhere there were lines involved in the path, not circles. She made her way over to them noticing the temperature difference as she slipped in. Perhaps they were just trying to get warm? She did her best to match them. "Okay...let's go." She said her smile returning.

Nikolas smiled as Ijn fell in behind him and in front of Kris, it would be the best place for her. With them looking after her now, Nik wasn't about to let their new little sister out of their sights. Circling a couple times more to make sure that the legs were stretched and the air around them was warm enough, Nik broke the circle and darted head long through the bushes where he expected Ijn and Kris to follow.
Kris wasn't too far behind his brother, though minding not to over take Ijn whom was before him. When his brother broke the circle and out into the trees, he was following closely behind. Tails lashing behind them, the trees swept past them, but slower as they felt that Ijn wasn't able to keep up with their normal pace just yet. Just as quick as the shadows chasing the light the ground was gained and things changed. Nik picked his way well, though the trees stepping around obstacles and only stopping when they came to a stream to drink.
Having covered much ground and left the old resting grounds behind them. Also leaving Ijn's family behind, perhaps they would be back there in time. But the Brother's hearts were restless and always moved from one resting place to another. For now, they stopped at a small stream to get a drink. They were far from their appointed destination, but with another with them, they dared not take many chances of her falling in exhaustion without stopping a few times...
"We'll rest here for a bit. The night is still young and I have faith that we will make it to our destination before the sun rises." Nik nodded as his brother dipped his head down to get a drink himself.

Ijn's legs had almost become a pink and cream blur as they began to move. She had not ever moved so quickly before and she could not believe that this was slow for them. Still, she followed closely behind and made no sound of complaint figuring this was something she would have to do again on several occasions. She did find it strange to think that so much change was going to be a standard in her life. It was stranger still that she was not feeling the usual panic that came with change.
Though perhaps it was not strange at all. Instead of having only one person to rely on she now had two that seemed much more dependable.
She was so lost in her thoughts that she had not noticed Nik stopping in front of her or the stream. That was, she had not noticed until she had set foot in the water. She jumped slightly and backed up as she rejoined reality.
She took a look around to try and figure out where they were but could not so she dipped her muzzle into the water and drank deeply. After a short while she straightened and looked over to Nikolas. "How far is it?" She asked not knowing how far they had just come or how much further they had to go. She thought it could be useful to know though.

Nikolas had taken sentry duty off to one side, his eyes and ears moving from side to side before glancing up toward the skies. An ear turned as Ijn had asked her question, how far... That was a good question, he hadn't really thought about how far anything really was. Kristopher remained behind them, his head lowered a bit as he nibbled at the faint grass a bit before lifting his head back up.
"We should be there before the moon is directly above our heads." Nikolas answered as he looked toward the still fairly low white orb. "That is our destination, the base of them mountains." His head swung to the side where one could faintly see the tops of the mountains.
"The mountains, the first place we went to upon coming to these lands. Home sweet home." Kris grinned looking toward where his brother was watching.
Nik laughed at his brother at the mention of 'home' he didn't think this place could ever be like home. There were too many around and not enough that would make fine Fledglings like Ijn. Shaking his head he looked back toward the pair with a questioning look.
"We ready? Or should we wait a few more minutes?" Nik asked more pointly toward Ijn.

"The mountains?" She repeated focusing her gaze on the large stony peaks in the distance. She had always wanted to see the mountains but her father had once told her that they were not a safe place. That many things went wrong on and around them and that it was no place for her. She had listened then. She would not be listening now. She was, after all, here to learn from her brothers more or less. She didn't imagine she could get much from them if she did not do as she was told. Besides, however dangerous it was in the mountains it would be worse on her own.
As she slowly came back to reality she realized that she had been paying no attention to anything around her. Giving her head a shake she looked from one brother to the other and got the feeling she had just been asked something.
"Yes, I am ready..." She answered hoping that this was the answer to the question she had been asked. If not she was about to feel very silly. It just seemed like the most likely question in this situation though.

Nik gave a sharp nod before peering back toward his brother. Kris gave a grin before backing up some to give Nik a bit of room. There was truth that there were dangers in the mountains, but none really dared come near the brothers as when one was in trouble the other came to their aide and vice versa. Nik circled around his brother and new little sister before dashing off down the side of the stream to where it was shallow. Splashing across he made way to the other side and there he waited for the others.
"Here we go," Kris smiled moving to follow behind his brother. "The mountains are a wondrous place."
Kris splashed his way across the stream before shaking the water from his coat. Again they set off toward the mountains, waving and dashing through the tress. Splashing through puddle and stream, moving like shadows chasing the light. It wasn't long before the trees cleared out into the valley at the base of the mountains that loomed high over head. The brothers slowed their pace to nearly stopping. Dark eyes looked up at the looming peaks as they drew closer.
"Home sweet home." Nik chuckled as he turned again heading toward where the valley broke against the mountain side.
There was a cave etched into the mountain side that lead deep into the mountain itself. There he stopped to let Kris and Ijn catch up to him. Standing off to one side, an ear was turned toward the cave entrance. He could hear the winds wailing through the halls and tunnels of the caves. Somewhere in there was home, their place of salvation from the dangers outside the mountains...

It seemed she had assumed correctly. She smiled as Nik circled about them and followed after him. She hesitated for a moment at the stream before bounding across like a mountain goat. She wanted to see the mountains even if they seemed a bit scary. Who wouldn't want to see something that was a 'wondrous place'?
Across the stream she shook herself off and followed closely after the brothers. Her little legs moved as quickly as she could to keep up. As time passed she started to get more used to the way the wove through the trees and didn't lose any time getting around them. In fact, she was even starting to enjoy it a little bit.
As they slowed she lifted her head to look at just what was 'home sweet home'. She gasped.
The mountains were huge! She had known they were big, but not this big. "Wow..." She said following after her brother while keeping her eyes glued to the sky where she could no longer see the peaks. When she noticed that Nik had stopped she did as well and a few seconds later she froze almost entirely. What was that noise?
She slowly turned her head and found herself staring wide-eyed into a cave. Was this the home sweet home they were talking about? It didn't look very homey.

Nikolas watched them as they caught up to him. It had been a long run from the clearing to here and now the skies weren't as dark as before. The moon had started to hang low over the mountain tops as he watched. Looking back at the cave, he started making his way into the wind swept tunnel. Tail flicking behind him, his eyes had given an almost predatory look about them as he looked down toward Ijn, but he had looked away quickly. Kristopher was close behind his brother as he entered the cave, their hooves ringing against the hard rocky floor.
"Through the mountain and past the trees. Where the water falls and the mists rise like serpents to slither through the trees." Nikolas spoke, his voice echoing off the stone walls as they walked.
"Home, not like the old one, but.. Home all the same." Kristopher nodded as he stopped and looked back to make sure that Ijn was still with them.
Nikolas kept going, his ears turned backwards, his eyes straight a head. He weaved through thin passages and between out cropping rocks that looked much like spears ready to spear anyone that stepped too close. Stopping at the opposite end of the tunnel, he looked back as another gust of wind blew through the tunnel and small wisps fog snaked itself from the exit and curled around the rocks that laid on the floor. It was there he would wait for his brother and new little sister.
