The House

Audi's house isn't exactly what you'd call normal. Oh, it's not a huge mansion, but it's on the brink of that. While the building only has two stories, it does, however, have two wings as well. All the better to keep the woman's escalating number of animals and wards in. There are enough rooms to run a decent hotel, though only 4 of them are occupied, with a fifth set aside for an awaited guest.

The house also has well...one could call it a backyard, but then one would be guilty of the biggest understatment of the centuary. It has a forest on the property, for heaven's sake! And a stable, as well as a few pens for keeping the non-house suitable pets.

Aiden as a kiddlet. He's so adorable! heart

Aiden!

User Image
Name: Aiden

Gender: Male

Age: A Teenager (13 or so)

Nicknames: TNT

Hair Color: Red with hints of orange

Eye Color: Emerald Green

Likes: Getting his way, being the center of attention, clothes, fashion, making
friends, accessories, colors, vampires, fantasy books, sweets, staying inside

Dislikes: Being contradicted, being ignored, being told what to do, eating peas

Personality: Aiden is a fairly simple child. He likes what he likes, and...well, dislikes what he dislikes. It's not that he's not smart, not at all. He is, however, uncomplicated. Well, at least, he is most of the time. The one small thing is that...his emotions are, if not unstable, very fluid. He didn't get a nickname like TNT (That's Audi's, anyway) out of nowhere. He has the tendancy to express one emotion one minute, and another, quite possibly polar opposite, emotion the next. That being sai, he'd rather be friends with people than enemies. He has yet to meet another GCB who has made him mad. Perhaps his emotions will settle in time, and with experiance.

Audi is Aiden's guardian, of sorts. They get along well, as Audi is a laid back kind of girl. She has a weakness for cute things, so Aiden gets away with more than he should, and since the boy seems like he's going to be a sweet talker when he grows up, one can only guess the indulgence will continue.

User Image
- Wilder, Aiden's alternative guardian, of sorts
User Image - He likes clothes and designing them quite a bit, so Aiden thinks he's rather cool. Plus, yanno. He's an anthro! A horse, to be specific.
User Image - One of the more childish of Audi's wards. He doesn't really...speak, although he's got to be at least 10 in human years. Not that he's human.
User Image - One of the three Cherubs that inhabit the manison. Arlin's very shy, and keeps to himself. Repeated comparisons to Severus Snape don't really help.
User Image - The second of the cherubs, and one of only two humanoid females. @_@ She's more bouncy than Allette.
User Image - The other girl, Allette is a bit more down to earth. Both of them make Aiden a little bit iffy, if only because he's not used to having girls in the household.
User Image - Finally, another human! Connor's a few years older Aiden, though they go to different schools. Aiden's kinda wishing they didn't.
User Image - Another more childish personality in the household, Darrion's actually rarely seen, as he tends to spend quite a bit outside in the forest.
User Image - @_@ Oh...dear. A vampiric were-cat? Aiden's a bit scared, if awed, because...hey, it's Louis! They don't interact often at all, given their very different sleep patterns. Louis tends to keep to himself quite a bit, in his room if not out doing...who knows what.
User Image - The very newest addition to the household, Kyren is an...it. More specifically, an Andros, and genderless. No reading on personality yet.

Cosette is the kitten that Aiden got from Diago. She is steel gray with faint white stripes, and relativly small. Aiden loves her because of her childish delicacy, and because she's a cat. To him, cats are majestic, refined creatures. He's certainly more of a cat person than he is a dog person. He named her Cosette because she reminded him of the young, fragile little girl from one of the books his mother gave him.

Friends

Youriji - Hasn't met yet
Ptah Sa - Hasn't met yet
Micah - Aiden's seen him breifly. He seems like a nice enough kid, despite his apparent aloofness.
Archard - Aiden happens to like Archard. The boy is quiet, and quiet people just begged to be dragged out of their shell. Besides, Aiden really wants to take him on a shopping trip.
Orion - Aiden likes Orion as well. Nice kid, although they really haven't interacted all too much. Aiden thinks Eithan is...slightly intimidating.
Laertes - Again. Aiden thinks Laertes is very nice, and loves the clothes that he wears.
Raissen - Ah, Raissen. Aiden looks up to this boy because of the way he acts and especially the clothes he wears. He's his...well, rolemodel, of sorts.
Diago - How can Aiden not like Diago? He's the reason why Aiden has Cosette! He gets along with the other boy, though on their own they tend to run into patches of uncomfortable silence because their interests are...very different. Aiden sees this as a challange, to get to understand the other boy.
Alisdare - Hasn't met yet
Trinket Raine - Hasn't met yet

[reserved for when Audi decides to rewrite the old opening]

"Audi! Audi, look what I got today!" One excited little redhead rushed into the house, holding something small and delicate to his chest. I looked over at him, and discovered a shock of white and gray in his hands.

"What's that Aiden?" I was curious. I knew he had been visiting the Mansion again - he's stopped asking me to come in with him, which must mean he's more comfortable on his own now. I suppose it's a good thing, though sometimes it feels nice to have people dependant on you. - and I wondered what he could possibly have with him. Nestled against the shock-red of his shirt was something pale and furry.

"Her name is Cosette! Like that book you gave me, because she's little and she's soft and she needs a Valjean to take care of her." He looked up at me, grinning and now uncradling the little thing from his chest and holding it up gently.

It was a kitten.

"I get to be her Valjean, right? She needs me to protect her." Little boy's growing up fast, wanting to take care of something. And he's only 11. I smiled and crouched down.

"Yes, of course you do sweetie. You get to take care of her. Now, she's going to need some things, isn't she? Let's hop in the car, and we'll go get what Cosette needs so that you can be her Valjean." He hadn't expressed the desire to care for anything before, and I relieved me. I'd had the child for a few weeks now and I was worried that well...he'd turn out to be uncaring, perhaps. He seemed to have that possibility, early on, of not caring for anyone but himself.

That obviously wasn't gonna be true.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I sat in the car on the way to the pet store, with my Cosette curled up against my lap. It was kinda funny, I hadn't planned to like the kitten this much. I mean, I like cats, but when Diago had the box...I kinda just saw her and loved her immediatly.
I thought Mom might be happy with me, that I brought home a kitty. I mean, she's got enough space in the house, doesn't she? It occured to me that she might think I was too...childish to keep a pet, but I'mna prove that wrong. Not that she thinks it but...yeah. I'm going to be the perfect Valjean for my little Cosette.
I watched my little boy in the passenger seat, and began to think about how much he was growing up in such a few short weeks. It was as if...well, he hadn't really been given the chance to grow before he came to live with me.
Maybe I'll let him have access to more things in the house soon.
He's still not gettin' his paws on the Anne Rice though!
I had had Wilder for a little while, keeping him out of Aiden's way until I could figure out exactly how I was going to introduce the android to my darling. He was getting more and more independant by the day, and pretty soon, no matter how good looking - and Wilder was that - his caretaker, he wouldn't want one at all. So I figured I'd better introduce them so they could get to know eachother.
The man had been installed in a room at the end of one of the wings, but I took him now to Aiden's room, planning on introducing them. I knocked, but got no answer. Frowning, I turned to the violet-haired man beside me. "I'm sorry. I'm not quite sure where he is." Wilder said nothing, just smiled. I knocked once again, just to make sure he didn't have music on - I had given him my CDs recently, and he seemed to be particularly taken by David Bowie (Like mother, like...uh...adopted son) and now took the "is to be played at maximum volume" seriously. A bit of a strain on the eardrums, but as I loved the man myself, I couldn't be too harsh on him.
I had very soon realized that my house wasn't...exactly condusive to raising a boy...at least not a straight boy. I mean, there were a lot of influences - most that I quickly put off limits to Aiden until he was old enough - in the house that were definatly genderbending, or at the least, sexuality-bending. The Vampire Chronicle books, much to his dismay, were still off limits, as were most of the manga I collected. I couldn't very much keep my posters off limits, and there were some interesting ones in there...but I thought he could handle it. Aiden was turning out to be a very smart kid.
"...I'll go see if I can find him." I spoke once again to the android, smiling.
When he spoke, his voice was soft and low, which...just seemed to fit him. "Alright. Should I wait here, or should I accompany you?"
"Ah, you can follow me. He usually tells me when he's about to go to the manison, so he should be somewhere around here."
We trekked around the whole damn house, before we ended up right back at his door. Sighing, I shook my head. "Well, he's not inside. Look, I'll just go change out of these" I pointed to my slippers "And we can go look outside."
Wilder nodded silently, and I started towards my room. My feet hurt - our house is pretty darn big, even if it's small in comparison to GD's mansion - and I was fed up. Where was the kid? It wasn't like him to wander outside on his own, and I could see, through the windows, that Cedric was still in his enclosure. Aiden knew better than to go into the woods alone.
I reached the door to my own room, glancing behind me as I opened the door to check that Wilder hadn't gotten lost.
When I looked front again, the Mystery of the Missing Aiden was suddenly solved.
...I thought I was about to faint.
I don't know what Mom was so upset about.
...Well, I guess it was partially because I was wearing her skirt. I just...kept seeing her wear it, and thinking how pretty it looked. Laertes wears skirts! And he looks good, so I thought...I thought I might try it out and see.
But...I really didn't have anything to go with it! So I...did some shopping on the way home from the mansion one day. They have this really pretty goth-shop at the nearby Mall that I've seen a couple of times when Audi's taken me to get new clothes. I don't know why, but I've been drawn to it ever since the first time I saw it.
I finally saved up enough money to get some serious clothing, the full deal. Odd jobs, bugging Audi until she half-wanted to kill me...it all added up to a pair of boots, black elbow-gloves, a beautiful velvet shirt that was cut in a jagged pattern probably waaay too short and an odd...suit/leotard thing that extended the full length of my body - with a lot of places cut out - and ended in pantlegs - black of course, and then striped both red and black.
I was on my way out of the store when i saw a pair of clips for my hair. It was getting longer - I liked it that way, and Audi encouraged it - and had the annoying habit of getting in my eyes when I was trying to read. These clips...they were a little darker than even I typically liked, but something just...told me they'd round out the outfit. They looked like a pair of bat or dragon wings stripped to the bone.
I had been putting the finishing touches on the outfit - namely, Audi's star skirt since uh...that suit-thing wasn't quite appropriate to wear on its own, not with how little it covered down there. So, the skirt. I had already bought eyeliner and eyeshadow and put it on, and I was posing in front of the mirror when she came in.
You'd have thought I killed Alerion, the way she reacted.
...God, wish I hadn't bought any of it in the first place.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It...it wasn't that he was borrowing my skirt. Not really. Though it was slightly insulting that a teenaged boy looked better in it than I did. Just...I hadn't expected him to grow up so fast, y'know? Or that he would want to wear something like that.

The shock was so huge that it completely overrode my "Awww" factor. I think I spluttered for a minute, then told him to go to his room. I didn't mean to be harsh, I just couldn't...think with him staring at me, in that outfit. He ran out of the room, and I could already hear him crying as he made his way down the hall.

After a moment, Wilder spoke up, sounding hardly phased at all. "...Would you like me to go talk to him? That is, after all, what you brought me here for, is it not?"

I thought about it. I would have loved to, honestly. Send the Android to clean up my mess and calm my boy down. But I knew...I knew that I had to do it myself, that he would get the wrong message if I sent someone else to do my job. And so I shook my head. "No, thank you Wilder. I'll go talk to him."

When I got to Aiden's room, the music was already blaring. I knocked, knocked again, and then finally sighed. I tried the handle, found that it wasn't locked, and pushed the door open.

What assaulted me, over the sounds of David Bowie, was a yell of "Leave me alone!" It was broken slightly by a sob, and I could see my baby, my darling, curled on his bed - covered in a comforter of black velvet, when in the world had he bought that? - crying.

"Oh Aiden...I'm sorry. It was...a shock. To see you like that." I advanced a step inside, and he raised his head so that I could see the black eyeliner he had used running in down his face with his tears. If I wasn't so sorry, I would have taken a picture of how beautifully tragic he seemed at the moment. "Honey..."

The boy gulped, not looking me in the eye. "...S-sorry Mom." He reached down, his fingers on the skirt. "I...I thought it was alright, I promise I won't wear this stuff again." If anything hadn't before, that broke my heart. For all his posturing, his pride and his rambunctious spirit, I knew that Aiden wanted approval from people, that he thrived on it. And if his own mother didn't approve of him, who would?

"No, no..." I came to sit beside him, and he placed his head in my lap automatically. "Honey, I was just suprised. It's fine, however you want to dress. I mean...it's a little revealing, and I'd like you to...decide if that's what you want to wear when you go outside. But whatever you decide is just fine with me." I ran my fingers through his hair, careful not to snag the hairclip - I hadn't seen that in my shock, it was kind of adorable in that gothic-creepy way.

I was dazzled, as I always was, by how fast the boy could change his emotions. Given that he had been crying, it wasn't as a dramatic a change as usual, but even now, Aiden began to smile, closing his eyes once more. Then, he opened one to glance up at me. "...Can I keep the skirt then?"

Cheeky little b*****d. rolleyes Of course, I said yes. Like I said, it looks better on him than it does on me.

(XD Wilder still not introduced to Aiden. Post tomorrow, I suppose.)

"Aiden, there's someone I'd like you to meet..."

"Yeah? I'm comin'." I made my way into the kitchen, where Audi was calling me from, pulling a black wifebeater on. I wasn't going anywere today, so my clothes weren't anything fancy. A pair of jeans - girls, granted but whatever - and the aforementioned shirt. No shoes though.

When I got there, I saw Audi - my guardian, my mom, my...well, I loved her. She had taken me in - I kinda forced it on her, I was - still am - a demanding child, but she did it all the same - and I would always be indebted to her for it for the rest of my life, even if I hardly ever showed it. Or, uh...ever showed it, actually.

That, and a tall man with with the prettiest, long lavender hair I had seen - for some reason, hair and its colors fascinated me, as did clothing choices - wearing an adorable 17th-century suit. Grinning, I glanced at Mom. "Boyfriend?"

I blushed, glancing over at Wilder. Well, he was bloody attractive, this...Dream of mine. But that wasn't his purpose in this household - and he did have a purpose - and so I shook my head. "No. Honey, this is Wilder. I brought him here to be...a companion to you. Look after you when I'm not around."

"...I don't need a babysitter mom." I scowled, looking him up and down once more. God, she could find someone less goodlooking if they were just going to be bossing me around, couldn't she?

I watched as she shook her head.
"Not like that Aiden. I know you're old enough to wander on your own - I mean, you were going to the Mansion by yourself when you were 11 - I just thought...you'd like someone that you might be able to relate to better. Think of him as a friend. Isn't that right Wilder?"

The pretty man nodded docilely, and it suddenly occured to me how odd this was, that Mom was talking about how he was going to live, and he wasn't saying anything at all. I smiled at him politely, murmured "Excuse us" then pulled her aside. "Mom, where did this guy come from anyway?" I kept my voice low because I didn't want to offend the stranger by talking about him. Even as I looked over Audi's shoulder, he was merely staring out the window peacefully, hands clasped in front of him.

She blushed, and shrugged.
"Actually, he's...well, he's not human...He's an android that I bought from this shop, the Mausoleum. I just kinda...fell in love with him when I saw him. And then...I thought you might want male company in this house." She pulled a face. "Besides Meph, since he...isn't the best of influences."

She was referring to this...bunny-boy who had come to stay with us recently, since mom had kind of taken him in. He was...different, to say the least, even though his clothes rocked. He wasn't the nicest of boys though, and Mom gave him a room pretty far away from everyone else. She was giving him an apartment of his own really soon, closer to his friends.

"...Are you...uh...sure you can do that? I mean, he's a thinking and feeling...uh...organism, isn't he?" I looked over her shoulder once more at the man, still standing quietly by.

Mom shook her head, smiling.
"That's sweet of you to be concerned Aiden, but I've talked to him about it. He's more than happy to."

"...Well, alright. 'Sides, he is kinda...cute." I grinned at her, winking.

"Aiden!"

Laughing, I made my way over to the older man with a kind of saunter that I had developed when trying to be impressive to others, hips swinging just slightly. Behind me, I knew Audi was shaking her head. "Hello." I purred to the man...the android...well, Wilder, as I approached and stuck out my hand. "I'm Aiden, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Aiden." His voice was really soft, with this lilting quality to it. He smiled as he took my hand, and I grinned back at him.

Well, isn't this going to be interesting.
