Alexia sat on the front lawn playing with her daughter, Hidaka. She sighed, wishing she had some one to help her take care of the little girl. Being a single teen mother was harder than she had thought, and she was only taking care of one of her children. The others had been given to nice owners to take care of and it was a good thing. Alexia loved her kids but taking care of them was hard work. Suddenly Hidaka took off like a cream and pink bullet across the lawn. Alexia followed.

It was nice to be able to just go out and walk around on a fair-weathered day. At least, that was what Mermac had always thought. Nice weather was always perfect for a stroll and so Mermac had succumbed to the desire to go out in the sun. It was as he was walking then that he saw one young baby take off across the grass, followed after by a female he could only assume was her mother... no, caretaker would have seemed more likely, he thought. And so he couldn't help but stop, watching with the twitch of an amused smile. "Quite the speed demon you've got on your hands," he noted with a glance to the teenage female.

Alexia pulled up short at the sound of a voice. She hadn't realized anyone else was around. Alexia glanced at the other wayward only long enough to see that he/she was brown-ish, then turned to watch her daughter again. "Uh, yeah," she said, slightly winded, while keeping her eyes on Hidaka. "Wanna help me corral the little she-devil?" With that, Alexia took off after her daughter once again.

Mermac couldn't help his soft chuckle, shrugging easily before he too moved to take off after the young child. "I suppose it wouldn't be a problem," he remarked softly as he found himself stalking after the child. Because after all, it wasn't like he was doing anything else at the time. At least this was... semi-productive? In a way?

Hidaka abruptly stopped and plopped her butt down. Darn, the she couldn't see the thing she had been chasing anywhere. She looked around for her mommy and saw a brown fox coming toward her. He looked nice. So she crawled closer to him to investigate. When Hidaka got close enough she snuggled his tail. Yep, it was nice and fluffly, just like a tail ought to be. Then she heard her mother say something. But she was too busy playing with the other Wayward's tail to pay attention to what it was.
(Hope you don't mind that I used Hidaka here. That's what my brain -what little I have of one - told me to do. And I always listen to the little voices. *shot* xd )

Alexia breathed a sigh of relief that her daughter now had her behind planted somewhere and seemed content playing with the other fox's tail. "So, um... Thanks," she said, blushing slightly. Now that Alexia had the time to look, she realized it was a male and he was pretty cute too. Which just made the situation worse. Couldn't it have been a female? Or an ugly male? No, of course not. She had to get caught not in control by a cute guy. Suck!

Mermac blinked when he noticed the baby had not only stopped, but upon noticing him had decided to approach. Slowing to a stop, he could only look down at the child as she took hold of his tail and began to play with it. Well... so long as she wasn't hurting him... he didn't really mind that much. "Really? Don't worry about it. I would have felt bad about not helping, after all."

Alexia held out her hand to shake the guy's hand. "My name is Alexia," she said. "And this little squirt playing with your tail is my daughter, Hidaka. What's your name?"

Mermac nodded, accepting the offered hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Alexia." He glanced back down at the baby playing with his tail, letting it flick once. "And you too, Hidaka," he then added with a small smile.

Alexia watched her daughter giggle and bounce when Mermac flicked his tail. "She seems to like you... Either that or she thinks your tail is a toy." Alexia commented, giggling nervously. "This is the longest she's sat still for a while."

The fox shrugged lightly, twitch of a smile still on his lips. "Either way, I don't see any problem with it. As long as she get the idea that she can keep it, at least." After all, he wasn't exactly fond of the idea of giving up his tail. He was rather attached to the furry thing, believe it or not. For Hidaka though, he gave another flick.

Alexia smiled at Mermac's comment and looked on as he did another tail-flick and Hidaka gurgled her laughter. "Well," Alexia said, "I think it's about time this little goober took her nap." She picked up her daughter. "Wanna walk with me?" she asked Mermac. "I don't get to spend much time with grown-ups lately."

The fox shrugged easily, watching as the young child was picked up by her mother. "I don't see why I couldn't," he remarked with a small smile. "I'm not doing anything in particular right now, nor do I have anything else planned for the moment."

Before he could help himself, Mermac shook his head in disagreement with that statement of Alexia's. "Not really. I'd much rather be dealing with a kid or something than have all this free time and nothing to do with it."
