Forest Arena

User Image

Description: One hundred yards in radius, a grassy arena with some trees scattered about, making it look like a small forest. This allows for many places to hide and any other tactics one can think of. Bushes and shrubs are here, too, but nothing exotic, such as flowers. There are no animals, here, either. The only person you should watch out for is your opponent. There is about three wide open spaces in this forest. However, the trees don't offer really enough coverage to where a person can effectively stay hidden wherever they are.

Starting Positions: Each fighter starts at the center open space, facing one another with about ten feet between them.

Out of Bounds: Out of bounds is anything that touches the stands and beyond.

Saphen looked around for a moment but not very long. With his opponent only feet away from him he had to consider his options fast. Earth was abundant here as well as wood...well only one thing to do then.

Saphen whirled his mandolin around to the front again and let his fingers loving move over the strings once more.
Every note chimed to and flowed for such a special occasion as this...another battle to enjoy...and another fight to endure.

There was no chance of winning this tournament now but to say he did not try his best would be an insult to his profession. Battle was not only a form of worth proving but it was also a field of entertainment in this respect and if there was anything Saphen could do with his particular skills it was entertain.

Saphen's eyes were fixated on his opponent, he would have to think quickly and act precisely in a field where cover would be a large advantage to both fighters.

"When ever you are ready..." he said firmly as the music began, he was eager to get this duel started.

Tres wasn't going to let this mother ******** run away.

He looked deep into his opponents eyes before the match timer would start, with a confident wry grin that spelled trouble for his soon to be enemy. Tres was not visibly armed with any real weapons even though he believed himself to be the most dangerously armed man in the tournament.
His hands were dipped lightly into the brims of his vintage jean pant pockets.

Tres did not pay any mind to the mans instrument. He figured he was a bard and that just meant that he needed to keep this guy from getting too far away from him, don't give him any time to cast his bardic spells.

"Ready", he replied.

FWWOOOM

Dead leaves and dusty wind lifted from the ground as Tres would start forward immediately as the match would begin. Tres would move with shuffling foot steps that would be so light and graceful that the dead leaves retained there form beneath his heavy weight. In a single motion starting simultaneously with his forward movement he would shift into his boxer like stance.

Tres would move in as close as possible and wold then throw a low left lead straight using the same body mechanics that an uppercut would use. The lead straight low punch would be thrown at an upward angle as to properlly utilize the motion of the back that came with the technique.

His fist would cruise straight at the warriors weapon in an attempt to send his metal covered fist straight through the instrument and into the warriors gut. His fist were covered in protective gloves, likely the instrument was made out of a highly durable material but at the same time Tres's striking limbs were conditioned to such hardness that he no longer had to worry about hurting himself when performing his attacks, allowing him to attack with unrequited power.

If his fist did not go through the instrument at at his opponent Tres's fist would at least push the warrior back.

Saphen saw his opponent rush him but he had assumed as much watching the events of his previous battles. With the limited space the man was indeed right to consider rushing to be a good choice. But over time Saphen had learn that the simplistic moves are often the best. They took little energy and in the realm of spells speed was a major factor in how one would coordinate

As the earthly energies began to grow in him he had to make time for well..."not getting hit in the face" time (which he enjoyed having at home as well). As the man darted forward Saphen had no care for what type of physical attack he would do but decided that any would be bad and decided to take his leave.

As he returned his opponent's gaze he quickly looked back for a moment and suddenly he was in the air. A stone slab angled slightly had launched the bard up into the air away from his opponent. It was a slight angel so he was launched high up pretty quickly to avoid getting his feet caught by his opponent even if he could manage to catch up jump in mid run. Saphen took a quick moment to turn the top of the slab into a spike strip to avoid his opponent following him.

Saphen quickly flung the mandolin behind him (the strap keeping it from falling) and caught the limb of the tree he had eyed. While not often a physical creature in terms of battle his light frame was great for being nimble. The tree was a good ten feet away from his original starting location and as he lifted himself onto the branch he was happy it supported his weight well.

With no time to waste he watched his opponent quickly returning the mandolin to playing position and strumming the strings once more. This would be a battle of time and Saphen had no choice but to hold off until he could return the thoughts that his opponent was having.

"NO ESCAPE!"

Tres shouted as he would throw a downward punch towards the spike shrip. Sending his metal covered fist into the down into the stone spikes, crushing them rather than injuring his own hand. Items changed by magic typically had low structural integrity due to the fact that they are usually formed under duress as the opponents had been. The slab would shatter with a loud burst.

Tres would be in a crouched position immediately after the punch, with his knees bent and his center of gravity still above his legs, perfect to suddenly begin dashing forward towards the opponent whom had just landed high above in the tree.

Tres's nearly superhuman athleticism would allow him to continue to run up the tree. His heavy and powerful steps against the tree would cause it to shake violently likely causing the musician to fall towards Tres and setting Tres up to take advantage of his sudden descent.

As Saphen whipped his mandolin around he saw his opponent destroy the stone and dash forward. Obviously his opponent was the aggressive type but he would have to consider that later. Saphen only had enough time to react to his opponent's sudden dash to the tree but luckily his attack on the slab caught his attention with the resounding sound of crushing stone.

If he wanted up, Saphen would get down.

Suddenly a stone spike sliced into the tree at an angle. The angel would be right in in front of the tree where Tre stepped up onto it and push up into the tree. The spike would extend a good twenty feet in that direction and the tree would begin to fall attempting to crush his opponent under it.

Saphen quickly hopped onto the spike's tip (the opposite direction of the tree falling) and with a quick chord the tip broke off and his feet now had a platform that floated quickly to the ground at an angel moving away from his opponent. Taking a small jump off of it to save time he landed on the ground and began dashing into the forest trying to gain some distance before his punching friend picked up momentum.

The spike shot through the tree and into Tres's upwards path. However, the opponent would soon realize that Tres was the personification of the 'unstoppable force'. He was going to blast through all of this mans magic with his bare hands and force of will until he finally ended up in the corner with no were to run and then, then the fun would begin.

Tres would begin to run up the tree as the spike beneath him had cut into it causing it to fall towards him. As the Tree would come down Tres would grab hold of a branch to his left with his left hand and push off to the left with his feet. He would swing his body under the tree branch and use the branch as a point of leverage to guide himself more towards his opponent forward instead of to his left.

Tres would land on the ground just as the Tree would slam into the forest and he would begin running after his opponent. Tres was an olympic class athlete and surely he could run faster than some bard, he would catch up very quickly.

"RUN! RUN!! hahaha...", he found something amusing in chasing a man threw the forest.

As Saphen ran he used the time that Tre taunted him to consider his plans. It was true that he would not out run the physical prowess of the man but magic was not about over powering...it was about out thinking.

The man that was Saphen was not the bastion of physical might but instead focused his strengths into calculations, tedious studies of the elements, and quick/precise thinking.

Saphen would run for a little longer until he saw two trees right next to each other. Standing between them he turned to face the direction his opponent would be coming from. Saphen's eyes scanned the woods as the mandolin he gripped began to vibrate in the joys of music.

The strings continued to strum to the same tune they did before but his eyes had a much stronger purpose now and with the initial rush over he could steadily coordinate his attacks as per his usual fancy.

As Saphen would turn to face Tres he would not catch Tres's grinning hansom visage behind the log that was kicked off of the ground and sent flying towards his face.

Following through with the motion of the kick he would keep coming forward behind the flying piece of wood that likely Saphen would not be prepared for and enter hand to hand range.

Upon entering hand to hand range in his stance Tres would throw a left hand jab towards the opponents throat, intending to violently compress the trachea and stun the opponent to set him up for the combination that would likely follow the jab.

Saphen turned to see the wood and ducked quickly by reaction but his fingers continued to play the tune they had memorized through what seemed like an eternity of training. Music was an instinct to him and he could still repair his attack in some ways.

If Tre was right behind the wood or in any area near it he would have to dodge quickly. A flurry of spikes was launched from the ground in a shotgun pattern in a cone about 15 feet wide and about 5 feet high. The spikes would be coming out of the ground and then redirect them selves straight forward attempting to impale his opponent with their 1ft x 1ft size. There was probably about twenty of them and there was no real way to physically weave through them by mere dodging.

Saphen was not physically strong but he was not slow by any general means. Saphen just did not have the potent physical combat skills that his opponent was obviously excelling at. Saphen's fingers were still strumming at a rapid pace for he was not ready to just get smacked in the face by his opponent's confidence...just yet.

'Oh s**t!'

DO A BARREL ROLL

Before Tres could enter hand to hand range, suddenly a massive spray of rock spikes would burst fourth from the ground in a seemingly unavoidable spray of STOAN carnage. Instinctually Tres would react to the life threatening danger of the possibility of being impaled by a multitude of spikes 1 foot in area.

Tres would react by bringing his arms in front of his face in a boxers front guard while simultaneously crouching down and leaning forward. This would place his shins and forearms in front of the rest of his body. Tres's Shins were covered in greaves while his forearms were covered in bracer's. His shoulders would be cut somewhat on the sides as the spikes scraped off of his body but they were only small cuts.

STOAN KING, NOT!

Tres's forward motion would cause his tuck to smoothly develop into a roll. Towards his opponent and as soon as his feet would come under his body again he would be all like:

USE THE BOOST TO CHASE

and use the power of his massive thighs and glutes to propel himself forward like a cannon ball with a highly effective double leg take down at nearly point blank range to the opponent. The opponent had not moved back but had instead continue to play.

Tres's left shoulder would slam into Saphens lower abdomen. When this happens Tres's arms would grab around the opponents thighs and pull them into his underarms while driving the opponent forward. This pulling of the legs in and pushing of the body back would either drive the mans back to the ground or cause him to double over Tres's shoulder allowing him to the carried.

If he was allowed to carry the opponent he would drive him against A tree and slam him down into it, putting him in a slumping position against the Tree.

Tres would then attempt to beat his face in with his fist in a dazzling array of random and unpredictable combinations.

"Finally!" Saphen thought as his earthly energies grew in power after much charging just when he needed it. As his opponent rolled to dodge the spikes Saphen's body entered Stage 2 of his earth powers...metal control.

The light armor he wore was not for taking the brunt attacks of massive hammers but for increasing his mobility. As Tre attempted to roll at him his body was launched into the air in what appeared to be a large jump.
Saphen turned his head upward just quickly enough to see a branch which after he passed with the launch he landed on with a decent force but nothing that would break the branch.

Saphen was now twenty feet in the air looking down at Tres as a new song began for this increase in power.

Tre would most likely not expect the speed of his escape but now Saphen did not need to run to match distance with his opponent but rather merely launch him self and recover and this was important.

It was more time to prepare, and it would force Tre to expend more energy.

But if nothing else he had to respect the man's tenacious physical power. If he didn't reach stage 2 at that moment he would have been nailed into a tree.

"Oh my ******** god...

You are pissing me off!"
, Tres shouted as he missed.

This guy just kept running and running away Tres thought. Barely being aggressive except for that spike thing. Tres wasn't going to let this mans power get the better of him. As soon as he missed the double leg his right shin would slide along the ground to place the right foot in a planted position, using that planted foot he would jump up after the opponent.

Tres would side kick the Tree on his way up to shake the thing and perhaps cause the opponent to loose his balance or fall off.

"What fun would it be if this was a game of punching bag?" he retorted gravely as his opponent kicked the tree which shook him up slightly but Saphen merely hopped off the opposite way falling at a backwards angle and would eventually touch the ground keeping an eye on his opponent who was flying up.

The armor slowed him down right near the ground and he landed with only a slight impact but that was not where Saphen was stopping his actions. As his opponent flew up and Saphen flew down he gave his mandolin another good strum and an angeled spike sliced the tree at the bottom but why?

Saphen had rearranged his plan so that if Tre followed he would cut the first tree having it crash into the second tree hopefully crushing Tre between them or merely just sending him to the ground.

Saphen's energy was growing and with this new found vigor he was growing confident in dancing with this master of physical combat. But at least at this point Saphen had landed a good 15 feet away from the tree giving him some time to react if need be.

Tres would combo off of his first kick and perform the next quickest move after that attack which was a kick from the right leg. With this kick instead of snapping the leg in and out he would push against the tree at an angle to send him down towards his opponent. This would put him from in between the two Trees as they would collide together. On his way down Tres would slow his descent by grabbing on to a branch or too and then land gracefully with all of the control of a Olympic gymnast.

"GET OVER HERE!"

Sieg would shift into his fighting stance while simultaneously begin trying to close in on his opponent, whom he was sure would continue to evade him.
