'Kay, I'm sure all of us, upon listening to the legendary Ziggy Stardust album, have had at least one or two questions bouncing around in our heads. Maybe you've even come up with a tentative answer to one of these questions, or had a revelation that seems to fill in one of the many "blanks" of the album. Or maybe you just really, really, really, really want to shout out your undying love of the character/inspiration/songs with fellow Bowie fans.
Granted, this is a borderline-deceased Guild, and I'm probably foolish for bothering to post a topic. But if this doesn't spark at least a little revival in here, nothing will.
So, for starters...the Spiders from Mars. Who are they, anyways? (The characters, I mean, not the actual guys who were Bowie's backing band during his Ziggy-era.) Did they come from Mars along with Ziggy, or are they regular earth dudes who Ziggy recruited in his quest for rock 'n' roll messiah-dom? And...how does Ziggy eventually kick the bucket? I sometimes think he died of overdose, since the very end of "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" has this air of frantic delirium about it, but that's only a hunch.
So, yeah. Love Ziggy? Think he's a bit disturbed? Have this brilliant revelation about the storyline of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars that you just have to share?
