So, I finally took the plunge... Bought a Canon 40D last night. Hopefully it arrives soon so I can start taking pictures with it. Looking forward to seeing how much better the pictures are compared to my current camera.

As soon as it arrives, I will post up some pictures... ninja

Congrats! I'm sure you'll love it! I have the 30D.

Oh, and I think it would be cool if we had a thread where we could share our links to our flickr accounts (because I think that's the most popular photo sharing site) since it's easier to view photos there in large quantities.

Well, the camera came in today, but not the memory card, so no pictures as of yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

But I already Love the camera!

I've just started a photography unit at uni! I'm so excited! We're only working with analog though, and black and white film, but if I like anything, I'll scan it and post it here!

I have a question about Color quality-

I see some really vibrant and fantastic colors in other people's photographs on DA. I've tried changing my white balance, color pre sets (like from standard to vivid color), adjusting my contrast, and looking for better lighting situations. I still can get that really surreal color.

Is this done by photo editing on the computer? My color quality just feels so drab!

Ive noticed this with my pictures as well. I know that I have a few pictures hanging on my wall that only have vibrant colors because of an editing program... I also noticed that my new camera takes much better pictures that my older one... So my guess is it could be a combination of settings, camera, and editing programs.

I suspected it might be. In the meantime I will continue adjusting the white balance to do as much as I can with my Nikon.

I have a less technical question and a more presentation question- where is a good place to put photos? I have a Deviant Art account but I'm thinking about shutting it down. I want a place that is sort of "art" directed with photography-- but more open to beginners (the talent on DA is mad awesome, I don't feel up to par).

I have a photobucket- but for me it's more about storage than it is about getting feedback. Really I use it so I can post img on Gaia and other forums.
