 It was like a desert across the beach, despite the leafy shade from a large line of palm trees. Meandering down thee shoreline was the dark-pelted winiko, seemingly unfazed by the sun beating down on his fur. Pausing for a moment, he lowered his nose to sniff at a large piece of seaweed, before carefully picking it up in his teeth and flinging it back out to the rolling waves.
Icy blue eyes scanned the beach, a long, low sigh softly rushing from his throat. Such a beautiful day, but no one to share it with? A wasted experience, in his opinion. Pawing lazily at a few rounded pebbles, his eyes settled on the horizon, lazily watching the waves roll in towards where he was standing. The water brushed against his paws, cooling off not only them, but his entire body. Yep, what a day...

 It was so hot.... Melipis walked on the humid beach, and sighed. She wanted to have fun, but it seemed impossible. Her paws was dark brown, like a bear's. She paused a moment as she saw a familiar figure. She raced across the sand swiftly and quietly, then pounced. "Mala~!" She had always wanted to see after for so long. She rinned as she tumbled along the beach with him. "How've you been?" She loved her old friend dearly, and really meant it. "You're so lazy!" She giggled.

He had just about dozed off when a weight hit his side, sending him rolling through the warm sand. He bristled at first, before he recognized the voice that followed. Grinning broadly in return, the winiko pulled the other into a large bear hug, paws wrapped around her tan body. "Meli~" he crooned, laughing as sand was flung in generally every direction.
As he settled his tail curled contentedly. "Same old thing," he laughed, "Lying around, watching the waves, enjoying myself." He smiled at her. "Same as always. What about you?"

She giggled playfully, and smiled. "Bored as always...!" Melipis softly pushed away from the hug to gaze at her friend carefully. "It looks like you grew since the last time we met...." She exhaled, but added quickly. "But just a little." She made an small indication with her paw, probably saying about a few centimeters or even an inch.
"So, didja miss me...~?"

"Well, that's no fun," he replied, a pout crossing his face, "You're bored and I'm taller? I don't see any good in that at all." He laughed, eyes closing for a moment in contentment. He frowned for just a moment, though. "I don't want to be tall, though. captain is tall and he towers over everyone in the house. It's like your own little world way up there. Must be lonely, right?"
Malagueno's grin only broadened. "Of course!" He replied, laughing again, "How could I not?

"Yeah..." She said softly, a little hint of sadness in her voice. "At least you have others to actually hang out with at your house. I'm the only one, so it's not fun at all...!" She pouted for a moment, but smiled happily. "Just hearing that makes me feel better..." She glanced at the sea for a moment, and pondered a thought. "Have you ever swam in the ocean, even swan ever at all? It looks so fun..."

"A lot of them aren't much fun, though," he protested playfully, "They're crabby or mean, or just plain anti-social and keep to themselves. Caden and I hang out a lot, but all he ever wants to talk about are girls." He laughed, eyes looking towards where the water rolled against the shore.
"Once," he replied, watching it for a moment, "There's three aquatic winiko in the house, and two of them are just kids. Little terrors pulled me right in with them." He laughed at the memory. "It's not hard, though. All you do is paddle your feet and keep your head above the water."

"You should be greatful.. it's better than being lonely...!" She pulled him closer to the shore where he was eying. "Then let's go...!" She pulled him into the water behind her as she dashed into the cool sea.
Such sensation got her to look above the waters as she peeked above. She splashed a bit of water at him, and playfully laughed. It seemed like it'd last forever...

"I could never be lonely~" he laughed, bounding after her and trying desperately not to get a mouthful of saltwater. He jumped a small wave and finally made it to where the water had less of a chance of bettering him around, up to his neck in chilly water.
"It's a bid cold," he pouted, raising his voice so she could hear him wherever she had ended up. He turned his face and laughed as she splashed at him, squeezing his eyes shut to save them from the salt again. "Don't you think?"

"I guess it is kinda chilly!" she shouted back, and closed her eyes for a moment as a small wave upon her face. She had her entire face wet, but it fine since her eyes were oaky.
"How can you never be lonely, I wonder....!" She shouted again, running against the waters. "It'd be hard for me to never be so..."

Malagueno laughed, bounding in as large of strides as he could manage in her direction. "Just keep moving, you'll warm up!" His mane was soaked and plastered to his forehead, fur heavy with seawater.
"Even if no one's around," he called, finally just a couple feet from her, "I think of all the good times I've had, and that keeps me company." He grinned broadly, just in time to have a small wave bat him in the face.

"You're right!" She giggled, as she turned to face him. This one moment of peace ended as Melipis tackled him again.
"Thanks for the advice~" She said rather playfully, then backed off a bit. "Mala's always looking out for everyone..." She said, not looking at him, and padding off, a little bit jealous.

A yelp of surprise came from his lungs as Melipis bowled him over, splashing through the water and now thoroughly soaked.
"If I didn't do it, who would?" he laughed, jumping up again and shaking like a rather large dog. After spraying water all over the place, he trotted after her, tail swaying back and forth. "Most don't even look out for themselves, y'know?

Melipis didn't bother shaking her fur yet, and turned her head to peer at him.
"So I'd be one of them...?" She splashed her tail lightly against the saltwater, and gave him quite a wierd face. "You know, one of the 'many who don't look out for themselves'....?"

"Maybe," Malagueño replied, eyebrows arched in surprise, "If you don't look out for yourself, that is." He sloshed over towards her, water splashing his underbelly and soaking his fur again. "Do you, then? If you're being careful and keeping safe then I have nothing to worry about." He grinned broadly at her. "I'm sure you can look after yourself, you've got a strong mind, y'know?"
