Brett Favre has requested his release from the Packers today. He has decided that he really wants to get back on the field, and is willing to leave Green Bay if that is what must happen.

Typicalexbf I haven't watched T.V. all day, damn wish I would've caught ESPN now. I know the talking heads were shouting like no other. Hope he goes to the Vikings The Packers said they wouldnt release him. They said they would welcome him back, but not as the starting QB.. There was talks on ESPN about where he is going if he leaves (by trade or releaser or whatever) and they were saying that he would fit the best in Tampa Bay smile but i doubt hes leaving GB.

Then where would your precious Jeff Garcia be? Hah, sure it'd be good for the bucs, but I don't know if he'd go there. The decisions made from here on out by the Packers organization will decide what happens to Favre, and if they keep up the suspicion, he won't be in green this year.

not to sound mean but im tired of duke changing the subject of all the threads to the tampa bay buccaneers. please just make a tampa bay thread. i just heard farves interview and he said he wants to play, not as a backup and would play for a team where he could start and would be a super bowl contender. he also said he feels bad for aaron rodgers and how he feels about the situation. when asked if he would return to the packers if he could compete for the job, he said why? as in im ******** brett farve b***h! i dont need to compete. and i would love to see farve go to the vikings. but it will never happen. dang it!

As of now, Ted Thomson and Mike McCarthy of the Packers would rather Favre to stay retired. They both committed to Aaron Rodgers being the Green Bay starter in the season opener (even though Brett is the better QB). Favre, on Sunday, agreed not to report to the Packers training camp, as the organization said that they would settle this within a few days. In a statement on Sunday, Favre said that he and the Packers would reach an agreement to let him play football again.
So in conclusion, it seems that Favre will play professional football again this season, but it's unlikely that it will be for Green Bay. The Packers said that they wanted a first-round pick in a trade for Brett. Teams which seem interested in a trade are the Jets and Buccaneers. Teams most interested in picking him up in an improbable release are the Vikings, Ravens, and the Bears. Yet, Favre is too good to be released.
The entire thing should be resolved within this week.
...Personally, I would like to see Brett Favre either stay retired or return to the Green Bay Packers.
