Rune sighed. There was hardly anything to do in the spiraglades with it's few inhabitants. Everyday was a bore to him. Half-dragging himself to the flower field, he burrowed beneath the long stalks until only his fluffy blue and white tail stuck out.

Chouko giggled as she ran through the flower field hunting for butterflies. She had found a few lovely yellow ones earlier, but they flew away. 'Oh well' she thought to herslef 'I'm sure there are lots of other butterflies around.' That was when she saw something strange among the flowers, a blue and white puff-ball was moving slightly in bunch of purple flowers. 'How odd' she thought, tilting her head to the side a little bit. Being of the curious sort she decided to go over and investigate. She walked slowly over to puffy-ball before stopping and pawing at it cautiously .

Rune shot up in the air as his tail was touched, landing with a thump in the purple lilies he had been sleeping in. He turned around and glared angrily at the other gladier standing there, but then softened his expression when he saw her frightened eyes. He patted his ruffled fur down with his paws before turning back to the other gladier. "Geez, don't you know not to touch my tail?" he asked. "It tickles!"

Chouko shot up in the air when another Gladier popped out of the flowers and was frightened when he looked so angry, but he seemed to be nice when he spoke to her. She felt bad that she had gone around messing with something she had no idea about. 'I-I'm so sorry! I had no idea it was your tail, I thought it might be a fluffy bug.' Chouko bowed her head 'Please forgive me!'

"It's alright, but I don't suggest poking around everywhere for fluffy bugs," Rune teased a little. After a pause, he continued. "So, what brings you here? And what's your name?" he inquired. "Oh, and sorry if I scared you. I don't like being tickled."

'I'll try to be more careful from now on' Chouko smiled, feeling more at ease, this Gladier seemed really nice. 'It's okay, I was more surprised than frightened and it's really my own fault. My name is Chouko. I came here looking for butterflies or any other interesting things I could find. I also really love the flowers' she sighed 'What about you? What's your name and why are you here? Do you like the flowers too?' she questioned blinking up at him with large curious eyes.

Rune smiled back at Chouko. At last, he was meeting someone to take him out of boredom. "My name is Rune. I came here because...because I have nothing else to do." He shrugged, showing his indifference. "Eh, the flowers don't really matter to me, although they do smell good," he continued. "Oh, were you searching for butterflies? I know a great place to find them. They come in hordes to sun themselves on this great big rock nearby."

Chouko began to bounce up and down in excitement 'Really? Really, really? I would love to see it! Please take me there.' Chouko was so happy to have finally found someone to play with and he could show her some butterflies too. 'A big rock huh? I've never seen that place before. I'm really excited!'

"Calm down, calm down," he told her. "Now follow me," he instructed as he began weaving through the long flower stalks. Soon, he came into a clearing besides a small river. A lone tree marked the spot where the rock was, so Rune headed towards the tree. "See that gray spot over there? That's the rock." Rune nodded at the base of the tree, where a large gray stone was. There were already many colorful butterflies on it.

Chouko followed closely behind Rune, she didn't want to get lost or miss out on the butterflies. She was deep in thought about whether it would really be a bad a thing to be lost among the flowers when Rune pointed out the spot with the rock. 'Oh wow' Chouko took a deep breath and let it out. The scene was absolutely beautiful. She saw red, blue, and green butterflies and many multicolored ones. She giggled 'It's great Rune!' and she turned towards him 'Let's go play!' before taking off to try and catch some butterflies.

"Nah, you can go play, I'm too tired," Rune replied as he lazily plopped down under the shade of the tree, still watching Chouko out of the corner of his eyes. For a couple of seconds, he contemplated taking a short nap, but he decided to keep watch on Chouko instead, sighing. "Do you know why the butterflies fly to this rock?" he asked, testing her knowledge.

'You shouldn't be so lazy' she giggled teasing him lightly as she looked at him laying down under the tree. She thought he might fall asleep, but instead he asked her a question instead. 'Because they like the warmth that the rock gets from the sun?' she asked looking over at the many butterflies. She loved them very much, but she had never studied much about them.

"Sort of, but not exactly," Rune replied. "They need the warmth from the sun to fly since their own bodies don't produce heat to give them energy." He gestured with his paw at some butterflies that flew away. "And I'm not being lazy, I'm...I'm...." he trailed off, lost for words.

'Really? Wow! You know a lot Rune.' Chouko was very impressed 'But you are lazy, lazy! It's okay though, I'll play enough for the both of us, you can watch! I'll show you a really cool trick I learned.' with that Chouko giggled and pressed her head against Rune's for a second before running off toward the butterfly rock.
When she got there she skidded to a stop, 'Are you watching?' she turned and thought-shouted to Rune.

For a second, Rune's heart stopped as Chouko's warm fur came in contact with his. "Alright," he decided, turning his body so he could watch Chouko comfterably. "And I am watching!"
