I am so sorry if this is bigoted or racist in any way. But what would happen if a black person (or anyone with dark or tan skin for that matter) becomes a vampire. Would his skin turn pale or would it retain its old colouring.
Again, sorry if this question offends anyone. I was talking with a black friend yesterday and we were debating over this question.

Na na na na na...
It would retain the same coloring; the person would just become more elegant and beautiful looking.

I think they would turn pale, like other vampires.

I'm pretty sure they would turn pale. When Jasper is talking about him being changed he says something like "Even the little one whose features were clearly mexican was porcelin in the moonlight"

.Bucket.of.Joy. I'm pretty sure they would turn pale. When Jasper is talking about him being changed he says something like "Even the little one whose features were clearly mexican was porcelin in the moonlight" Yeah, that's right. Cause in the book Bella also describes Laurent as being pale too, he just had a slightly olive complexion. so i guess that would happen to people with dark skin too.

I've wondered about this too. I think a black person would remain black, but had chalkier skin. In the movie, Laurent is black. I wonder what Stephenie Meyer would say to this question...

I think they'd become darker, with really pale eyes to contrast

The color will stay the same cause in one of the book some of the vampire are tan. And the person will just become stronger and elegant. heart

The answer to this question resides in one of the later chapters of Breaking Dawn... Just FYI... without me telling what it really is... ninja

I'd like to think that a black vampire would not get more pale. In my eyes, that would make the vampire less beautiful... which goes against Meyer's interpretation entirely razz
*...Imagining black skin sparkling like a diamond* Eeeee~ heart heart heart
