So, I spent the good part of my day thrift shopping for Steampunk clothes, and more importantly, trinkets to make into stuff. I've got some more to do tomorrow, but here's wheat I've got so far:

I'm thinking I might hang the two black candleholders from my ceiling, as they remind me of parachutes a bit...but I want to do something else to them to. Maybe put something in them?

I dunno. Ideas?

I found those awesome little display bubbles on sale at a craft store the other day - I had to stop myself from buying more than three. I'll probably make or find something cool to go in them (possibly dry some flower and attach mechanical bits to them...hard, but not impossible), or else do something with LEDs to make them a crazy mad-scientist thing? dunno.

I'm also thinking of steaming up my old typewriter at come point.
Got some chain for the crazy "metal parachutes" in the first post. Also found some antique-looking brackets on sale at Wally World.
And I have some metallic bronze/gold spraypaint.

Also, there's my hourglass and table lamp, along with the corners of a couple other silly things (like my godzilla cupholder and the legs of my bizarre found five-armed skeletal action figure)

Just foundthis artist, Walmor Correa.

Here's an example of something he's done:

How cool would it be if I could pull of something similar for by glass bubbles!?

The glass bubbles thing is awesome. It makes me want to go out and get some to put stuff in, but I know I'd never actually do anything with them.

Just a thought, since glass is generally pretty heat resistant (I still suggest being careful with this, though), you could use clear gel candle wax to make it look like items are floating in the glass bubbles so that you don't have to use any visible system of support. Mind you, there would be some air bubbles, the gel has to be hot when you pour it in, and they are heavy after the task is done. I think it would give it a cool floating effect for whatever you decided to put in the glass bubbles.

If you could find some, you could put little metal men in the base of the metal parachute-thingies, so that it looks like you have little paratroopers coming down from your ceiling. Or, assuming that the metal thingies were more like hot air balloons than parachutes, you could have them inside the base looking down/over the edge. That would make an interesting conversation piece.

On a completely unrelated note: Heh, you said Wally World too! I thought only my dad and I called it that.

Suspending things in them is an excellent idea! Thank you ^_^

OMG - I have little army men inside my dartboard case. I'm totally going to put them in the balloon/parachutes!

I love saying Wally World...it suits it more than Walmart.
