The path through the meadow had been memorized. A solid strip of bare ground had started to wind it's way through the long grass. At the end of the path was his special place. A grove of beauty and tranquility, where he went to be alone with his thoughts, or a special mare. The latter was lacking, but the former happened more often.
It was sunset now. Soon the moon would be out and his private glade would be in full bloom. If only there was someone to share it with. That would be a miracle.
Kai eyed the path as he walked. A new path was needed. Anyone could find his glade now.

It was getting late and Kahili had to find a place to rest for the night. Normally she would take after her mother and find someplace deep in the forest where it was safe but she didn't want to travel all the way back there just to sleep for the night when she'd come so far. Surely there was some place close by that would provide a good resting spot that was safe and comfortable.
As she went along she noticed a pathway that was worn down to dirt from being used so much. It must be a popular spot if the trail gets used so much. Maybe because it was so popular there were places to rest! She happily trotted down the trail, excited and anxious to see what was at the end of it. Sure enough at the end of the winding trail was a very beautiful clearing that definitely seemed comfortable to rest in. But there was someone else here. Not wanting to intrude she slowly tried to back away before she was seen.

Kai's head jerked up at the sound of hooves. Just when he'd been considering a new path... He glanced back over his shoulder to spy a graceful mare. "Hello..." And just when he'd been considering having a mare to woo as well. Seemed most of his 'considerations' were coming true tonight.
The clearing behind him was mostly taken up by a large pond. Covered in white lilypad flowers. As the sun set, the moon and stars coming out, the pond started to glow. The white petals caught the moonlight, reflecting it, and the still surface was as star-studded as the sky itself.

Rats, she'd been spotted. "Hi there. Sorry for intruding, I didn't know anyone else was here." Kahili walked forward into the clearing and stared at the pond as it started to glow in the moonlight. She'd never seen anything like it, it was...beautiful. "Beautiful place you have here." The violet colored mare stepped up to the pond and watched as the glowing flowers floated along through the dark water. When one got close enough she sniffed at it and smiled at the delightful smell it gave off. This certainly was a heavenly place. "My name's Kahili," she said with a smile.

He twitched a little inside as she came into the clearing. This was his private place. Kai sighed out the irritation. So easy to irritate and anger him nowadays. "Kai Liu, my lady." He smiled at her, softly. "How are you today?"

Kahili looked up at him and tilted her head a bit as he sighed. "Are you sure you don't want me to leave? I won't be offended. I'm sure I get in the way a lot without me even knowing it." She waited for him to shoo her off but until that came she had to at least be polite. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Kai Liu. I'm doing pretty well this evening, what about yourself?"

"You are ok." He managed a pleasant smile. The Stallion was stressed by his fathers apparent mating, being a great-uncle several times over. Gods, he felt old. "And you may call me Kai."
