It was well into the afternoon when the black-winged otter descended into the clearing he had been in the night prior, the clearing where he had met a very curious (In both senses of the word) female otter. Abel glided down to the forest floor, flapping as he got low enough to finish the landing. He looked around and, upon seeing no one else around, he removed his glasses to polish them on his mantle.
After he was done doing that, he yawned and curled up, deciding to take a nap. That was IF his mind would let him. So many things had happened recently... Meeting Sarah Lovett, revealing the hated parts of himself to Aoi... He really began to wonder just what he was doing anymore. He lay his head on his paws and closed his eyes, trying to block out the thoughts so that he could get at least a little bit of rest.

Sarah Lovett returned at the sun set to the same riverbank she had originally slunk about the other evening. This time she did not come with the intent of finding a larger source of meat for her pies. Her dark eyes scanned the area and she grinned softly as she spotted the wings of her priest. She slipped out of the water and towards him with silent paws.
Well now 'ows that 'es sound asleep, like a lil winged angel She smiled softly and moved in front of him to examine him her eyes once again a light with curiosity. How she found herself drawn to this otter, his personality fascinated her.
She crouched down and nuzzled his ear with a soft whisper. "Oh Abel love..."

Abel had just slipped into a doze when he felt fur against his ear and Sarah's voice within it. He should have jumped in surprise, but instead he just turned his head and opened his eyes. Within them was a glint that matched the softness in his smile, happy as he was that she had shown.
"Good day, Sarah. How do you fair?" he asked, smiling a bit at her. He wondered whether if he had dozed off that much, or if she was just really good at sneaking.

"I'm well enough, still alive, though I'm sure tha's thanks to you in part. I don't think I'll be trying to get into anymore trees anytime soon." She giggled. She moved to lay down beside him and gazed into his eyes with a soft smile.
"Jus like I remember then, fire and ice no dream." She rested her head on her laced paws. "And 'ow are you?"

Abel chuckled and shook his head.
"I know few otters that like trees," he replied and tilted his head.
"You thought me a dream? Am I that fantastical?" he added and shrugged. He looked away, not avoiding her gaze, but looked to a sudden sound, a bird taking flight.
"I'm well. I'm glad to know you're alright... I worried a bit for you. The forest can be dangerous after nightfall."

"I live down the river, closer to the swamp area, I'm used to taking care o' myself down there." She didn't add that she was probably the most avoided thing down in that darkness, meaty things that came too close vanished, and she soon after had a fresh batch of her pies cooling on the bank.
"You are, yours eyes, your wings, like an angel I thought I dreamed up. A breath of freshness in a stale world." She smiled softly and rolled a bit onto her side relaxed now that she saw for herself that he was no figment of her imagination.

Abel's smile grew a bit and he returned his dual-colored gaze to Sarah.
"The swamp? I can't imagine what you hunt for," he replied and reached out one paw to rest on hers for a moment. He then drew it back, a little quickly and he blushed, laughing a bit.
"Well, I'm glad I could be something new in your world. I'll admit, I've never met a female quite like yourself, either."

"I'm sure you 'aven't" She grinned softly to herself, she was a unique huntress indeed. She gazed down at his glove covered paw and then looked back up at him.
"'Ow do you keep 'em clean?" She laughed lightly to herself and let her sharp claws puncture the earth.

Abel chuckled at her retort and then looked down at his glove-covered paw, inspecting it and brushing a bit of dirt from it.
" Well... I mostly travel by air, so only when I land and hunt do they get dirty," he explained and his whiskers twitched upward a bit as his smile grew to an almost cheeky grin.
"Plus, I have my special secret cleaning-and-mending method," he added and laughed a bit.

Sarah smirked and brushed her paws over her skirts smoothing them down. "I wish I could keep as tidy." She shook her head and watched his smile grow.
She liked the smile quite a bit ever eager to see it again. "You must live upriver? Or in a tree like a bird?" She giggled.

Abel tilted his head a bit so that he could rub the back of one ear as he laughed, his eyes closed in amusement.
"Actually, both. My territory's just a little bit upriver from here, and I made a sort of nest in one of the oldest trees in the Oasis," he replied and opened his eyes to look at her.
"And you? I imagine you live in a den, right?"

She relaxed and stretched a bit, one could say she lived in a den, one could also say she lived in a muddy hole downriver. "You could call it that."

"I found an old eagle's nest and modified it," Abel replied, nodding as he smiled. It was a rather silly place for an otter to live, but he adored it. Nothing would mess with him there. It'd be hard for him to have visitors, but he didn't really get visitors anyways.
"There's an old little fox den among the roots of the tree, though, if I ever need it," he added, nodding.

She smiled and nodded in understanding resting her head back on her paws once more but keeping her gaze intently on him. "I s'ppose you would use the other den if you ever 'urt your wing or some such."
She gazed into his fire and ice colored eyes and smiled to herself, it was still hard to believe he was real.

Abel looked off and considered.
"Actually, I think the reason I keep it empty is in case someone needs to stay near me, like someone who needed my help and or protection," he thought out loud. Was that really the reason, though? It was the only one he could consciously come up with. Perhaps there was another reason the inner workings of his mind had, but he wasn't sure exactly what that might be.
