He had left Discord where he'd dragged her for now, trusting that she would continue to sleep until her body had healed a bit more than what he had managed to do... Or she would die and he would find crows picking at her carcass when he returned. He still wasn't certain why he had helped her... Perhaps it had been for the same reason that he had healed Tarnish so long ago; perhaps someday she would be of use to him.
Snorting he took to the sky, using the cool evening air to cleanse his thoughts and his body, chasing her scent from his coat as he plowed through a bank of clouds that dispersed quickly around him, leaving his coat glistening with dampness from the mist that had formed them. It was a damned good night for a flight... And, depending on what he saw from above, it might be a good night for a hunt or a fight as well.

It had been an eventful past few weeks for Dia, and she was tired. Ohhhh so tired. But, with those little twerps finally out of her and now under the watchful eye of the stallion she never thought she'd breed with again, she could relax. She should go back out and find Pandemic, and rub in the fact she was a mother once more to the b***h's face, but she was far too grumpy to gloat. After all, giving birth was pretty damn tiring, even for the days after the dreaded event.
But no, she was in the mood to be alone, so she found herself lazily walking alongside the outskirts of the forest, her mind debating on where to travel to next. She could go back to the lake, but then she'd be risking running into Pan once more. She could go back into the forest, but then she'd have to deal with him and the new trio of baskets once again as well. So, it seemed, she'd continue to travel up and down the outskirts until she discovered a better idea of how to spend her restless evening.

His brow lofted as he found his gaze drifting down, unable to believe his luck... Or maybe it was his misfortune. Either way he figured it would be a moment to take advantage of. How long had it been since he'd crossed paths with the mare responsible for his birth?
Far too long... It was time to pay his dear mother a visit.
He pulled his wings in so that he could drop down, spreading them at the last moment to catch his body in a smooth glide that ended in a rather elegant landing (if he could say so himself). A smirk curved his lips as he tilted his head up, glancing in the direction of the bright mare. "... Hello, Mother."

Her thoughts were caught up with herself, so much to the extent that she failed to see the large mutant flying among the clouds above in the darkened sky.
No, her mind was elsewhere, thinking of what she and Plague's unfortunate little sibling had discussed, how she had brought about the news of the new arrivals just to smirk as she heard the dark mutant shriek in anger towards her. Pandemic was a nuisance, one Dia had fun messing with. She knew the older girl despised her, so it went without saying that all six children, despite whatever alliance they held, were to be hated as well by their dear aunt. Well, now nine children, should Dia count the newborns still far too weak to defend and stand for themselves. But Plague would take care of that issue. Dia had no patience for raising foals, though she considered herself to have done quite the impressive job on the trio she did force herself to care after. Nevertheless, she wouldn't do it again. The brats were lucky that Plague found the idea of a third brood amusing, and decided he'd enjoy giving parenthood another go, to see what would come of them breeding once more.
It would be the last set, Dia knew. She refused to give birth to any more spawn to wander across this earth. Already nine beings shared her genes, and she would share no more. It would be quite the adventure to see what each child would end up doing with their lives. Would one or more die by the horn of another? Would one or more take over and control vast amounts of land? Would they strike fear in the hearts of others, and the name of Diabetia and her children be known across the world?
Only time would tell what each child's destiny held. And, spirits providing, she would be around to see it all.
The voice came out of thin air, and the slightly smaller mare turned to come eye to eye with her second son. Pink eyes reflected off of one another, and her face remained emotionless.
"Hello, Taint." She finally forced out, "And what brings you to these parts? Here to simply annoy me? Or perhaps you're in need of your Daddy's assistance? Bite off more rabbit than you could chew, son?"

"Oh, no... I was just going for a fly, pondering how stupid the mares in our family seem to be... Then I saw you. What luck of mine, no? To find the mare responsible for starting it all with the devil himself." He continued to smirk, seeming strangely good natured towards her all things considered. There was no point in loathing that which he had seen fall once; knowing well that it could fall again, even if not by his own hooves, horn or fangs. It was just a matter of time...
"You're looking well for a mare of your age, Mother... All alone? Your thoughts must be heavy if you paid me no notice until I spoke... Unless you care less now about your tainted spawn than you once did." Pale eyes gleamed as his smirk turned into a dark grin. "Have you been well, Mother?"

She rolled her eyes, shaking her head. Candies rustled among her delicate curls with each bounce against her shoulders and horn they made. One pink cloven hoof pawed against the ground, dragging up the hard dirt beneath it as it pulled back. She glanced down to watch the dirt, intentionally diverting her stare to show simply how unimportant she felt her son to be.
"I'm still young, darling Taint," she remarked casually, shaking her hoof free of the dirt that clung to it, "Perhaps you're simply trying to grow old too quickly yourself, thus are trying to drag me along your hastened time line. I'm still young, young enough to be bearing more siblings to torment you with further."
Her eyes drew up once more to glance at him, pausing only briefly to catch his stare before moving to stare upon the rest of him. "You're certainly smaller than my other sons. Are you sure you're not some sickly runt? It's a wonder no one has put you out of your misery, you know."
Sighing, she started on her pace once more, not waiting nor caring to see if her offspring would follow suit. "My thoughts are but for myself alone, and not for the prying curiosity of others like yourself. I have been far more than healthy, though I can't say the same for your Aunt."
Simply envisioning the last expression she saw on the mare made Diabetia grin with pleasure. Oh, how fun it was, and how much more fun she'd have, once the little brats grew up a bit more. "And yourself? You must be doing something right, to still be alive after all this time!"

Aunt? The question lingered in his mind but he held back from asking it, keeping all traces of surprise to himself. He didn't want to know which of his parents had a sibling out there; didn't care to know any more about his twisted family than he already did.
"What do you know of your other sons, Mother? Beyond knowing that the eldest still wishes you dead... Wherever he is." He snorted, giving his head a light toss that sent his own curls bouncing against his strong neck. No, he didn't have the size that Tarnish did or the wingspan of the other fool... But he had learned to stand his own with the strength he had.
"It is just as much of a mystery that no one has put you out of yours... I am in no fear of extermination. I am as I am, as I always have and always will be... It's your fool daughter that nearly lost her life." He smirked. "Dumb b***h... I wonder who she got it from."

She smiled, amused, as she continued walking, her pace slow and languid. "My eldest may wish me dead, but I have at least two healthy, strong daughters and one other somewhat useful son that could come to my aid. Aside from your Father, of course."
She tossed her hair back once more, out of habit, only glancing back for a moment to see if her third child was nearby. "And it's apparent that you've done well on your own, Taint, despite your feminine appearance. Perhaps you were gifted with the talent of disguise. It's made good use for myself, so I don't see why you couldn't do the same yourself, less you're too dense to catch on to the trick."
Her ears perked as she heard him continue, mentioning one of her daughters, and her stroll falling back until she grew closer to the stallion. "My daughter?" Could he be meaning one of the two she'd raised? Discord? Dismay? Neither of them were weak, though, so it puzzled her to imagine either one of them finding themselves in a predicament that would cause any form of harm to their forms. No, both girls were too intelligent to get into any trouble, Dia was certain of it. "If you're referring to Torment, I'm not surprised in the least. It's a pity Plague obviously couldn't teach the three of you as I could teach my own set of three."

"I use what I have to what advantages I can make of them." He smirked, lifting his head to meet the candied mare's gaze as she turned back to him. "Is that not what we should do? Exploit our strengths in hopes of taking advantage of the weaknesses of others? Not everyone is built to be a brute and, having seen what trouble brutes get into?" He snorted, giving his head another light toss, finding laughter soon following as the mare that birthed him approached again.
"Torment? I've not seen her since I last saw you... No, no, Mother. Discord is the one I found battered and bruised. She should live... She was at least breathing when last I saw her." He shook his head slowly. "Someone's going to have to give her a lesson or two if she wakes up... Can't have your name tarnished by a dead daughter, can we, Mother?"

"You may not have been raised by me, but you're still of my flesh and blood, as unfortunate as that may be. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if you took after me in some form, aside from your lovely shades of pink."
Brutes. Interesting term to use, though it was fairly an accurate description of many of her breed, and those such as Plague and a few of her own offspring. Dia was not one to fight, Dia found far more amusement in luring and deception than getting dirty and filthy to fight for her dinner. And, from the appearance of things, Taint took more after her than she ever figured one of her spawn would. Unnerving? Perhaps. But at the same time humorous, for who would ever suspect a son of Plague to be more like his mother?
She watched him laugh, and remained silent. He continued, but with words she had no expected to hear. It hadn't been Torment he'd been referring to. No. But Discord? That was impossible. Her middle child would surely never succumb to a loss, not with the fine set of horns on her head and the strong pair of wings on her back. She may be a daughter of Plague, but she was also born and raised a daughter of Diabetia, and no child of Dia would fall victim. It was an absurd idea.
Ignoring his further taunting, Dia's eyes searched over her son's face. "Where is she?" She finally hissed, unable to read through his smirk for a hidden expression. "Where is Discord?"

"She is, I would assume, right where I left her, Mother." He smirked, pale pink eyes gleaming as he fixed them on the mare before him. "Don't tell me that you're concerned with the well-being of one of your children. That isn't like you at all..." He laughed again, giving his head a light toss before adding on in a most nonchalant way. "I've taken care of her, just as I once took care of Tarnish. We're even now, he and I... And one day she'll do as I say and we'll be even as well."
