Another day, another fun adventure for Sauda. Her pink eyes filled with happiness. Everything was going so well for her. Her tail was wagging as she walked slowly down to a watering hole. The only one for miles. Surprisingly it was empty. Or appeared to be empty of other animals. The water was clean, since the mud had yet to be disturbed.

It was great that no one else was here, she didn't want to right over it. Not that she had to normally, but just the thought always came to mind. She eased her way down towards the water and stopped when her paws hit the almost perfect cold water.

The sun had yet heated up the water. It wasn't even noon yet. She bent down to lap up some before stopping and looking about to make sure no one was coming, then went back to lapping up some more.

Jeraha was exhausted. Recently it seemed as though his life had gone to hell in a hand basket. Making “friends”, getting into nearly deadly fights, horrible dreams about his deplorable father… what was he supposed to make of it all? It felt like only yesterday he had been the lion everyone avoided. Now it felt like he was the one everyone had to have a piece of in one form or another.

He didn’t like it.

Torn between attacking and speaking with the next creature he found, Jeraha continued to the watering hole slowly, paws dragging in the dirt as the area came into view. The only animal that seemed to be there was a Hyena, something he had never spoken to before. Frowning, he moved to get a drink, plopping over onto his side as he reached the bank.

The sound of the male hitting the ground startled Sauda. She jumped and looked around, didn't see anyone until she looked about the shore. Then she saw him. A lion, or she thought it was a lion. She'd only ran into a female one. Who was really nice to her. She watched him for a moment. She wasn't sure if she should say hi, or run for it.

One hyena told her that males could be dangerous, which didn't calm her mood about this male. He was huge... or at least she thought he was. Well, it really couldn't hurt to try to talk to him. If he tried anything she could always run for it. Hoping that he'd be slower then her. She edged closer.... Ears straight up from her curiosity. "Hello there" She said in a very nice tone.

Raising his head, the mentally perplexed male peered over at the hyena that had decided to address him. He wanted to attack her and make her leave him alone, but because she didn’t happen to have male bits he knew that was not something that was going to happen. Damn his silly self-inflicted resolve to never harm a female. Granted, it was probably the only thing truly keeping him from being a spitting image of his evil father, but still.

Sometimes it didn’t seem worth it. Especially now that he had suffered that premonition-like dream.

“What do you want?” he growled of her, slowly rising to his feet again. It made him look much more menacing when he was on all four feet, regardless of whether or not he was actually going to do anything to her.

"Well, if your like that then nothing. " She glared at him. Not really meaning to say the words, but all females get deffensive when they are being rude to, even if it's just as simple as that. "Maybe if you were a little nicer, I might have been interested in talking to you." She said still glaring at him. She still had the option of running if he came at her. Despite the slight fear in her, she still couldn't stop herself for being rude back.

"I thought perhaps you might need someone to talk to, but it seems your doing quite fine right there.." She paused.... "Alone." she went close to the edge of the water again and started to lap up more water. As if now ignoring he was there. It was probably not the best thing to do, cause it made her an easy target to attack.

“Oh heavens, what a missed opportunity,” snarled the larger male, fur rising on the back of his neck. Made his mane a bit puffier, but he didn’t seem to care. He was irritated. If she could see that he was irritated than all the power to the poofy mane.

Watching her, he felt something pang at his heart. Guilt? Good Lord, what was happening to him? Why was he having to deal with guilt now? There really was something wrong in the world of Jeraha.

Growling at himself, he allowed his head to dip, his eyes averting themselves to the ground.

“I’m sorry,” he forced himself to say, “I suppose I could have offered you a better greeting than that. It’s… been a long couple of days for me.”

She popped her head up as he started to talk again. Well that was better. At least he apologized. "It's still not right to take it out on the first person you meet." Though she had no idea he wanted to attack a male, if she had been male, she would be screwed. She smiled at him.

"But thanks for the apology. And sorry about your bad fortune." What could be so bad that made him act that way? Well she wasn't a lion, so she couldn't possibly start guessing, nor did she want to ask about it to offended him into attacking her. It was bad enough she said what she said.

“Well, I’ve never really been one to worry about what’s right and what isn’t,” the large animal grunted in response. At least he was being honest. Then again, he never really had a lot of trouble being honest when it came to such superficial things. It was digging down deep that had him flustered.

Hence his current situation.

Jeraha watched her, wondering if she thought he might attack. She seemed tense enough. Picking her words carefully, maybe. The male couldn’t pretend to know what was going on in her mind. Still, guessing was always fun. “I won’t attack you,” he grumbled, turning his eyes from her, “it that’s what you’re worried about. I don’t attack females. Even female Hyenas,” he hummed.

Made Sauda wonder if all others who thought the same were as rude as him. She hoped she'd never have to run into someone else like him if it was true. Best to stick away from male lions, like the one female hyena suggested. But curiosity got the better of her. Like it always did. "Maybe you should once in a while. It wouldn't do you any harm."

She tensed up even more as his words entered her ears. She eyed him for a moment. Could he read minds? Nah, that'd be crazy. It was just coincidence that he happened to say that as she was standing there. She wasn't being totally secretive with her actions as she thought. She shrugged. "If I was totally worried about you attacking, I would have ran the moment you spoke." She lied.

Even with his words, she wasn't comforted with them. He could just be lying to get her to ease up and then attack when she didn't expect it... Oh... no. She wasn't falling for it. Though, he could be also telling the truth, but she had her own right to be the way she was. He could easily take her down and eat her for dinner.

“I think it would do me harm,” replied the male impassively, eyeing the female carefully as he tried to decide what it was he wanted to do with her. He was torn between scaring her off and just leaving before he could make her any more uncomfortable. There was also the notion of, you know, being nice to her, but it was far behind the other two candidates in his mind.

Smiling somewhat smugly, Jeraha nodded. “I suppose that’s true,” he replied as he looked away from her, “I just assumed a small animal such as yourself would be worried about something like that. Guess I was mistaken.” He was doing his very best not to throw in any sarcasm as he spoke to her, but even so his tone came out mildly passive aggressive. No stopping something that was just so natural to him, it seemed.

“Like I said before, things have been rather strange for me. I honestly hadn’t meant to snap at you like that. I suppose I’m starting to getting better at such things, though it seems I still have a long way to go before I’m socially agreeable, hm?” He looked back at her, studying her frame carefully for a moment. “Do you come with a name, or am I to guess it?”

She snorted at what he said. "Pff. If you've never tried, then how would you know?" She asked. Assuming he'd never tried. But she couldn't be totally certain. She shifted her wait from one side of her body to the next. She had been so worried about running, that she forgot her feet would start hurting after a while of standing there.

Small? Did just call her small? She wasn't small, he was just very large. "Small? I am not small." She spat back at him. She was quite average for a hyena. She eyed him for a moment. "It's not my fault you're just overly large. " She couldn't hold it in, she just spat it out right after she thought she could hold it.

She didn't say anything to what he said next. For she didn't really have anything to reply to it. She just eyed him more. He asked of her name, and she stood there quietly for a moment, as if debating weather she should say it. But it was just a name, it wasn't like he could do anything with it. "Sauda." She said.

“Hm, I suppose it’s a conundrum,” Jeraha replied absently, decorating the dirt between his feet with swirling claw marks. Right and wrong. Wasn’t it all relative? He was rather amused as she watched him. She seemed spunky enough, and that entertained him. It was never any fun when his opponents rolled over and gave up or just started to cry about how rude he was being. No, this was much better. Then again, he wasn’t really being as mean as usual either.

Damn conflicted spirit.

“No?” he asked, giving her body another looking over, “well excuse me, perhaps my perception of small is not what it used to me. How about; not as big as me, instead?” He chuckled. Was she trying to use his size as an insult? “And I wasn’t blaming you for it. I’m rather proud of my size. Makes intimidating smaller animals more entertaining.”

“Sauda,” he repeated, testing the name between his teeth, “I’m Jeraha, though I assume at this point that’s not of much interest to you, is it?” he chuckled lightly.

She just glared at him for a moment. Males, they were all the same, well not all. At least her Letladika wasn't like this guy. Thank god. Though, she couldn't really say if any other male was like that, for she really hadn't ran into any. Which got her to thinking that maybe, just maybe she was really lucky to have Letladika after all.

She nodded as he changed his wording of her height. "That does better then calling someone short." What? entertaining? She raised a brow. "Well, you better watch out you know... Size doesn't always matter." She gave a small half nod. "Might pick on the wrong creature and could be your unlucky day." She added.

"Jeraha, I'd have to disagree with you on that one." She said since he said her name, she might have used his too. "A name is important, no matter how rude, or kind the other is." For her that is, it was important. Names helped her remember, and she hated forgetting. She forgotten about her past, some accident she hadn't remembered.

Surprisingly enough, Jeraha wasn’t at all impressed by her comments. “Is that so? Well, I have yet to run into a bad situation with a small creature, but if it does happen you’ll be the first to know, how about that?” He let the matter drop, finding it boring now. She was small, he was big.

The message had been received.

“That’s interesting,” remarked the larger animal thoughtfully, drumming his tail against the ground, “I just got done speaking with a creature who thought very much the opposite. She said names were nothing more than labels for us to associate with one another and meant nothing important. Why do you find them so important?” He was fairly positive he didn’t care what her motives were, but he found he couldn’t help but ask. Damn curiosity.

It may have killed a cat, but could it really kill a lion?

She raised a brow, why the heck would she want to know about that? but she didn't comment to it but just gave a little snort to it. She'd probably never see him again after this, which might be a good thing. She wasn't sure yet. Her whole body wanted to shake, but she wouldn't let it. Sitting there still as ever.

Well, half of what the other he said said was kind of true. "Because if you forget one's name, you forget them." She said. Or that's at least what she believed. "Forgetting something that may not seem important at the time, will prove to be important later down the road. A name, or even a memory." She wasn't afraid to share her mind of anything. If other's asked, she was more then happy to fill them in.
