For it. Love is love, no matter if you're the opposite sex or the same sex. People should marry for love, not because you're a girl and the other person is a guy, or vice versa.

Lets see....
The Right of a human to love another human does not have to mean that
they are of the opposite gender.
So.. by this.
A man and a man and a woman and a woman should have the right to marry one another.
yes , this coming from a straight person.
If only people could understand what others really felt.
some people will never get it.

Of that's the case, then why can't a 12 year old marry a 43 year old? If they love each other, then why not? What about an animal and a man. Isn't it the same? The saying is "love is love" after all.
For the record, I'm for it. Haha. I just figured this needs some actual controversy.

1. Barring gay marriage privileges certain sects and religions over others. I do not see why the catholic Church should be favored over Reform Judaism or why Baptists should prevent unitarians and Quakers from having rights. Its a fundamental violation of freedom of religion. I do not grasp why two consenting adults should be barred from civil marriage or marriage within the religions that allow it. As no one is proposing forcing churches that don't agree with it to perform same sex marriages, I do not see why their objections should prevent others from doing it.
2. Disallowing gay marriage threatens families as it means that in some states visitation and custody rights can be denied a non-biological parent even if that parent raised those children in cases of death or divorce. this is deeply unfair to the non-biological parent and apt to be traumatic for the children. Imagine a small child forced to deal with the loss of two parents after the death of one.
3. Same sex marriage being allowed simplifies the law as regards transfolk. Currently, different states and even counties allow or bar marriage for transfolk seemingly at random. if same sex marriage is adopted the legal tangle disappears.

I'm against marriage... too many people nowadays sit there... and... don't HONOR THEIR PARTNER like they SHOULD... so... if you're over 18... will you be my concubine? I'm for gay concubines!!

for gay marriage the rights that come along with it should be respected and there is no reason why they shouldnt be able to. morality is relative and changes from person to person so exacting one standard of morality as superior to others is rediculous.
i think that marriage as a whole is against our evolutionary instincts but i do plan on getting married (probably)

For 3nodding
I don't see why people think it's 'against the sanctity of marriage' - marriage is about love and devotion, not which bits you've got. A cheating partner is more of a threat to the 'sanctity of marriage' than two men or two women marrying. Why don't they go and outlaw that instead?
Note: I'm not saying that there should be jail terms for adulterers or some such, just trying to show how silly it is to say that gay marriage is 'against the sanctity of marriage'.

But fewer rights than you have, which would be why they are protesting. Are you also angry about the protests to end Jim crow in the south in the 60's?
