As dusk descended on the Oasis, a dark, winged creature landed on a fallen log. Father Abel Nightroad stood on his hind paws and looked around, water dripping from his paws and face and the small fish slowly wiggling in his jaws. He stepped down off of the dead trunk and and took the fish in his paws.
"Bless this meal and let its soul find its paradise for the sacrifice it has given," he murmured softly over it before gobbling the fish up. he looked around at where he was, trying to remember if he was still in his own territory... it all looked so different below the canopy.

Well now 'ows that an otter 'oo blesses 'is food. Dark eyes scanned the male otters figure and Lovett had to grin to herself. He did look mighty tasty, perhaps tonight she might try a little priest. She eyes the wings with curiosity before flexing her claws and slipping closer to him beneath the water.

Her normally ruffling gowns plastered to her body becoming dark and sleek under the water, despite how heavy the materials were she had built up the strength needed to swim unhindered. Blood red fins carried her closer to her assumed target for the night.

Abel licked one paw and brushed it over his mouth and whiskers, cleaning them of scales and other bits of his small dinner. He looked back at the dark water, wondering whether he should go back under to see if he couldn't find a crayfish or clam as a sort of sweet dessert. But it was then that he thought he saw something move beneath the water's surface. Something large.

The large male blinked his eyes, readjusted his glasses and looked again, but saw nothing. He chuckled a bit to himself and rubbed at one ear.
"You're seeing things, now," he sighed and shook his head. He rolled his shoulders back, stretched, and lied down, parallel to the slow river.

Lovett grinned and popped out of the water at her chosen prey tackling him just as he lay down by the river. Her claws slipped out and against his neck with an eager smirk.

"Ahaha Gotcha now!" She was most pleased with herself, yet her curiosity halted her from slashing into him. What kind of an otter blessed the fish he ate? What was it like to fly? Her dark eyes narrowed, maybe she could interrogate him first.

When another creature pounced him, Abel froze. There was plenty he could do to throw the female off. He could buck or spread his wings or even roll. But there was one factor that prevented him from doing so was the claws on the back of his neck. any move he made could send her into a jerk that could greatly hurt, if not kill him. And he was a tough otter to kill.

"What do you want?" he asked, his tone low and soft. In truth he wanted to snapp at her to get off of him, but he deemed that a bad idea as well. Calm was the way to go, even though every muscle in his body was tensed, waiting for an opening to escape.

Her eyes focused intently on his and she tilted her head. Like fire 'an ice...what an odd sort 'ee is. Slowly she moved off of him and flexed her claws against his throat. Finally her claws retracted and she sat down "Curious 'bout you, and 'ungry."

She grinned exposing sharper then normal teeth and watched him ready to pounce again.

Somewhat unable to trust the demonic female now, since she HAD put her claws to his throat, Abel spread his wings after she had gotten off of him and was airborne in the blink of an eye. He turned and landed on a branch not far from her, but out of reach for the moment and stared down at her.
"You were just in the water, Madame. Did you have trouble finding something to eat in the depths?" he asked, tilting his head a bit, something like a bird. He considered the beginning of her comment and his face turned thoughtful.
"Curious... about me?"

She leapt back as he went in the air and shook off the water from her sleek fur. The demonic female pouted up at the angelic priest and huffed. "Well yes I like a special type o meat."

She grinned "Nothin' gamey o scrawny..." She giggled and looked him over again.

"An yes curious bout you, you said somethin for tha fish? And you 'ave wings!" Her dark eyes roamed over him.

Abel wasn't entirely sure he liked the way she said "special type of meat." So he decided to ignore it and latch onto the other subject.
"Well... it was a prayer. I was taught to thank the Lord for my meals and bless the souls of lives that are taken," he replied and glanced at his wings. He nodded and guessed she'd never seen an angelic otter before, or whatever mutation he happened to be.

"Well, I was born like this. There are a number of otters like me, er... Kind of like me. I'm a little different, but the wings are the same," he explained and folded his wings on his back again, slightly uncomfortable talking about his wings. Honestly, he wasn't happy talking about a part of himself that, unlike other angelics' wings, drew in blood spilled in the range of the large, dark feathers. Priest or no, he was a rather dark otter himself.

Lovett tilted her head and listened to him curiously "But their jus' fish?" Her eyes narrowed on him still gleaming with curiosity before she moved closer to where he was perched considering trying to jump up.

"An your eyes...one blue, one red... 'ow interesting." She padded closer still her claws gripping at the earth beneath her. She shook off once more her heavy clothes still saturated with water.

Her eyes roamed over his wings admiringly before she spotted the bloody tips and licked her lips. Oh yes priest seemed more and more appealing, but not for her usual appetite.

Abel shrugged.
"They're still one of God's creatures, with minds and souls. They deserve the hope that they reach their paradise as much as you or I," he replied and settled himself a little more comfortably on the branch, watching her with his different eyes. She kept coming closer to him and that caused him to tense slightly, the blue eye darkening a tiny bit.

"It was a side affect, from the way I was born," he added on the subject of his eyes.

"'Ow do you know they 'ave souls? Can you see 'em with your fire 'an ice eyes?"
She tilted her head and leapt up her claws digging into the bark of the tree as she stared at him not too far from her now.

She watched the blood pool from his wing tip and licked her lips. "Are you 'urt love?" Her eyes gleamed with dark intensity.

"I just know," Abel replied shortly, not moving from his perch, but keeping a close eye on the female. He smiled a bit at her description of his eyes, as he'd never heard them described as such. But his smile was quickly chased away into an impassive line at her last question. His wing shifted to tuck tightly behind his back and he turned more towards her to block the view.

"It's not my blood," was all he said, his words clipped short.

"Oh you jus' know, we'll fine then. I suppose your sure tha' theres a paradise too eh?" She grinned and climbed a bit closer "Don't suppose you could tell me whot it's like? Or show me?" She extended her paw her claws grasping eagerly for his bloody wing.

"Not your blood?" She tilted her head and examined him with eyes once more alight with curiosity, she was glad she didn't kill this one. She had a feeling he would have made a fine meal, but he made much finer company.

Abel backed farther down the branch, out of range of her claws. He nodded his head at her questions on Paradise.
"I do, and I can tell you a bit about what the Scripture says about it. But one cannot see Paradise unless one has died, so I cannot show you," he told her and his eyes flicked away for a moment.

"No, not my blood."
