The night was heavy with heat, and Saphira closed her eyes as she walked across the muggy landscape. What was so different about tonight? Her lungs felt stiff and dry, and her nose flared up in an unnatural manner. She wondered if a forest fire was nearby, since for some reason she felt unnaturally hot. Usually the night time brought a cool and crisp air, but the current temperature was scorching. Saphira was feeling irritable from the unusual heat, and her mind felt heavy with a usual loneliness. She hadn't spoken to anyone since wintertime, and now she was stuck in summertime. What was becoming of her? As she closed her eyes, she stopped herself so that she could better understand her situation. She was off, and lost as usual, and of course no one was around. Why bother exploring, then?

The red wanderer had aimlessly stepped off from his usual sanctuary, body brimming with vigor and force underneath the high flames that covered his body. With his presence came the wave of warmth that flooded the forest, though nothing burned at his touch if he had no desire for it. He was red, and he was unnaturally shaped, and the forest did not welcome his brute being, but he traveled through it as fluidly as one eminent large stallion could, and it was as if all life admitted themselves to his appearance, making way for the grand beast they dared not confront.
A low, deep snort erupted from the red company to the forest, and through the entanglement of trees in the maze, another distinct figure made its color known to the big beast. His long, fur-tipped tail swayed once, angrily, before the pawing against the ground led way to a rumbling charge towards the blue. No words or change of expression came from the one called the bull as it anticipated its charge's completion and contact in mere moments, and its roaring run was made known to everything in the vicinity--its power, voracity presumably unmatched.

How could she have not noticed it? The flaming red behind her, the roaring hooves in the distance. She glanced at the creature coming towards her, and stared into his empty eyes. He was something alright, and she chattered her teeth in an annoyed manner. What the hell was he doing? He hadn't said anything! Her body was completely still as he started charging towards her, and she tried to decide on what she should do in response. Should she retaliate? She had no honor to defend, in fact, she had nothing to defend. There was nothing for her to do.
As the stallion continued to get closer, Saphira only proceeded to take in a deep breath, and surely enough the stallion's head and horns rammed into her body head on. The mare forcefully let out the swift air in her chest, and she flew backwards without the help of her wings. What was done was done, and she wondered if she would recover from such a hit. As she hit the ground, she noticed she was still conscious, and that was surprising. Her body was in pain, but she was not afraid.

It took simple strides to carry the red monstrosity over to make contact with the blue figure, its disruption of the scenery that tempted it to rush towards the origin. Over time, the massive bulk of red had trained itself for chase; it prided itself on the natural instincts that guided its body towards the essences it sought. Weaving through the labyrinth of the lands was a mission--a duty to uphold. And those caught in his line of duty had all fled to where they were influenced by the red creature to go.
All had fled, but why did this blue presence not step away, or even maneuver its body to dodge the oncoming impact? His vision was unfocused during his race, and confidence melted away to uncertainty the nearer, the larger the blue sight became.
And so he slowed, at the last moment, bracing the touch of his blunted horns on blue scale, softening the blow. At once, he reared back a couple of steps, surprised by the behavior, though his form veiled his emotion. The wrinkles and scars on his face furrowed in agitative curiosity, and he stared down the blue thing before him. His breathing was heavy, and he kicked at the ground to scare the creature into livelihood; what was the red stallion to do with such a frail thing?

Saphira glanced up from the ground and stared into the beasts eyes. He wasn't as intimidating up close, and she found that as humorous. She had seen worse creatures in her time, but there was one thing that made her wonder. Why hadn't the beast killed her? He had the perfect opportunity, and yet, he didn't oblige with his initial plans? It also surprised her at how quiet he was being, and as she attempted to stand up, she continued to watch the strange creature with a usual curiosity and interest.
"Am I not appealing enough to kill?" she then asked, with furrowed brows. She wondered if she should be bothered by the fact that he hadn't killed her, or if she should be thankful. She took it as a hit to her pride, but what pride did she have anyways? As her mind raced with thoughts, she quickly shook her head, and focused back on the strange stallion. "I'm guessing you don't speak, much?" All he did was stare, and it was rather frightening in her opinion. He breathed heavily as well, and she couldn't read his emotions very well. They seemed all out of wack.

As the blue creature's eyes united with his, the red beast haltered his deep grunts and stomping on the ground, for such a rare occurrence.
There had been no other times when such a lower creature, especially a female at that, had been able to will themselves the power to stare into his face, much less his own white, glaring eyes. His presence alone threatened many, but the creature before him posed an error in an equation. It simply... did not make sense.
As it wasn't his initial intention to strike the blue mare fatally, but rather, chase the obstruction away, he reared just slightly backwards, but without making it noticeable, to give her space.
He watched her blue blaring eyes inspect him, even happily so, which made him fume. Nothing gave the female winged creature any reason to pretend to be meeting a friendly stranger. He was, of course, the entire opposite--silent, daunting, and one who nothing should have ever crossed paths with.
A surprise came to him, however, when the blue mare spoke, and it wasn't speech of terror or surrender. He grunted loudly as her annoyance of a voice intruded in his ears, but would not answer. Unneeded death and destruction was not for him, and it almost sounded like she had been looking for something to kill her. He narrowed his eyes, caught in confusion of the situation--the moments that passed by before the mare spoke again was unnoticeable.
Wordlessly, the stallion shook his head and instantly pounded the ground once more, lowering his head and horns offensively in an attempt to throw the female off, to terrify... He flicked his head upwards very dangerously close to her, signaling that next time he might not make a miss.

She still couldn't tell if he was taunting her and with a snort Saphira shook her head uncomfortably. She didn't care if he hit her again. She COULD fight back. She wasn't choosing too though for some strange reason. The only thing she did do, is swing her tail in front of her and continue to glare back at the bright creature. There was something very odd about him and she couldn't figure out what. That bothered her terribly.
The stallion seemed to be madder when Saphira spoke, so she wondered, should she speak? Would they continue on in silence? She wanted to chuckle, or laugh rather since the concept in her head was hilarious! Why was she even giving this stallion the time of day? And why wasn't she sticking up for herself, or rather fighting at all?
Well, it was worth a shot to play along, and that she did. She curled her lip and lowered her eyelids a bit, and tried to stare at the best as best she could. He was quite noisy for someone who didn't speak!

Alas! The blue figure displayed a sign of fright of the red beast! Or was that a snort of resistance? He could not tell, until her tail swiveled to the front, and perilously close to his own body. This act alone should have thrown him into a frenzied rage, but there was something peculiar that held him back from doing so. Perhaps it was that cold stare?
And the next movement came in the form of distorting facial expressions, which provided more puzzlement to the red stallion once more, for it was not that of surrender or terror. A sassy strange something was not what he asked for, especially one that enjoyed feasting its eyes on him, for he was the one who was supposed to do that!
He continued his silence, but then had the brilliant idea of doing something new: with a quick backwards step and lowering of his head, he swung his horns upwards again after touching ground, causing a mound of dirt, pebbles, and a rock to fly at the blue mare. Perhaps that would get her to start the chase...

There was a usual silence for many moments as the beast was examining her once again. She didn't understand- why was the situation so damn confusing to him? Either way, his next attack left her somewhat surprised, and on a whim she tried to lift her wing up to block some of the remnants. But there was plenty that hit her face and body. She growled as the pain left spatters of mess all over her, and she snarled her teeth in response.
"What exactly are you doing?! What kind of lame attack was that?" After shaking some of the rocks off of her wings, she pondered flying far far AWAY. But no. That would mean she was retreating, and she hated doing that! "I would have expected an actual attack from you. But no, you chose the weakest way out. Now I wonder what kind of stallion you really are." She kicked some dirt off of her hoof and left her sharp wings hanging at her sides.
Now she seriously questioned the current situation. What was the matter with this guy?! It wasn't as if her safety was at risk. It was.. something weirder.

The red figure watched in amusement as the blue thing lifted its wings in feeble retaliation. He was riling her up, and though he was not used to backlash or a defense from the opposition, perhaps he would experience something new... This was a night that may prove to be enjoyable, even.
He snorted at her brash response, and pondered realistically attacking the mare, if she so desired it. After all, her words seemed to offer a welcome invitation to the act. But it was quite strange. He chased and chased those who fell into his hunt, until they went to the sea, trapped, but he never knew what would have actually happened if... they did not permit him to chase. What if he had actually cornered one? One that submitted themselves to his will? One that could no longer be chased? He was sure his bite was as rough as his threats, but he never really had a chance to bite, did he?
His frustrations boiled within himself, the fires on his physical body not aiding to quell his anger, and he spoke, in a rush, "I am the Red Bull, and I would have expected you to be grateful when I hold back." His tone was booming, and serious. And he dared to ask the mare, "Why do you not run?"

And so it spoke. Saphira blinked from the rumbling that came from the beast's voice, and she shuddered instinctively before raising her head with a snort. His name was Red Bull? The name fit his description awfully well. And from his question she could only stare even more. Was she supposed to run? What strange logic that was! Maybe everyone else who encountered this stallion ran. But she was most certainly different.
"Well I am Saphira." she tried to make her own voice as intimidating as possible. But so far she still sounded fairly normal. "And I would never run. I am not a coward. Nor am I grateful for pity." A natural growl left her mouth as she glared the stallion's way. He had a lot of nerve!
She was trying to be strong in front of him, but he was extremely intimidating. His eyes were empty and scary, and the flames looked as though they were going to bring the forest down. She was hardly able to compete against this guy. But something about him told her to push on and not back down. She would not run, nor would she get herself in a fight. She would get through this situation, somehow. But for now, she had to figure out a way to make that happen. "What are you trying to accomplish, Red Bull?"

The Red Bull felt the wary uncertainty the blue mare held, and then felt her subjection and assessment towards him. He stood still, and the ground beneath him shifted uncomfortably under his weight. He was not used to standing still, and it almost made him feel more vulnerable. But to the staring eyes of the blue stranger, he would never make himself susceptible.
Saphira, he thought, wondering why she would dare give him her name--did she mean to make acquaintances with him? It was humorous. Was he supposed to do something with her name? He had ways to tracking down his prey without useless knowledge like that, but then again, this made things a little easier, should he need to find her in the future--if she wasn't dead yet from her boldness, that is.
Never run? "They always run," he spoke again out loud, letting go an ominous atmosphere in the air. The growl made his body brim with energy--he wanted to rush at her, but now what would that do? What do you do when you encounter something that wants you to strike them? He would be alone, if he had struck her down now, and back to where he had originally been. There was no thrill in that.
As the Red Bull heard Saphira speak once more, he grunted, growing tired of her voice. This one talked too much, and took little action. This was his problem, and so he realized that the only way he could retaliate would be to use words, as rare as they were, as well.
"It is my duty... I do not accomplish. You hold me back from doing what I am meant to do," he stated simply, staring at Saphira as he began to paw the ground with his front hooves so he would not be idle.

She was starting to get used to his appearance. And his voice, as tremendous as it was, hardly frightened her as much as it did. Now that he was speaking she was finding him somewhat normal in the context. He was different though, and clearly he had issues that she could never imagine. Like this life he spoke of, and his duties...
"And who gave you this duty?" she finally asked, while ignoring the rapid heat that came from his body. "And who runs? Everybody?" How terribly confusing. He was very vague in his speech, but she supposed she should be thankful that he WAS responding, since before that seemed impossible.
"I wonder how I am holding you back..." she then said to herself, before finally staring at him and raising a brow. "Wait... I'm supposed to run?!" No, she wouldn't. That would be ridiculous! She had to figure him out. Now she was concerned. Maybe he was mental or something?
"Red Bull... haven't you ever done anything you've wanted in your life?" she frowned lightly and wondered how anyone could ever live a life just.. obeying. "Don't you know what being happy or having fun is? They are important emotions and aspects to life!" Did he have any memories? Or even any friends?! Now she felt sort of bad. He was really something unusual!

"Questions," the Red Bull boomed out, feeling agitated and a fraction of concern that Saphira was now getting... comfortable with him. "Must you ask so much? Everyone runs. Why do you not follow suit?"
The blue mare was foolish; could females be that dense, especially in front of a figure such as he? How many times was it necessary to repeat himself? He snorted almost out of relief when she came to a realization. However, it seemed like she questioned the realization--was it that incredulous to run from a harmful entity? Was that not what he had been placed in these lands for?
He was growing tiresome of Saphira, and he wanted to soon stop humoring her. "Saphira... have you ever felt pain or the wrath of one in your life?" he inquired as he let a small smirk slip his mouth, "And what if I derive happiness and fun from chases? From what I am meant to do?" He pawed the ground again, emphasizing the friction between hoof and dirt, and lowered his head to bare his large horns, "I have the means to do so, so I chase, and those who are unfortunate run. Is that hard to understand?"
A grunt followed, not allowing for any further response, and the Red Bull started a charge at Saphira again, letting his rage fuel the flames consuming his body to rise, and commanded, "So run, Saphira!"

It wasn't that she didn't understand him. But he seemed to ignore the fact that some creatures HAD their own minds, and that they didn't need to run away from him forever and ever. Yes, he was indeed intimidating. Yes she felt some fear when she looked at him. But both of those things were natural, considering what she was staring at.
This was getting frustrating. Why was she being put on the spot like this? Why was running the only important factor in their discussion? She wondered... should she do it to see what happened? Should she run? She supposed if she got herself in a sticky situation she could always fly above the crazed creature. She at least had that advantage over him.
"I am curious as to what will happen if I run. I understand that you will chase me, you've made that very clear. But all I keep wondering is why... why is your life just this simple?" the words trailed off as she took a breath in, and after a moment she decided to bolt. She ran away from the stallion, and kept running and running, expecting to hear some loud thuds behind her... soon. Maybe she had succumb to him for the moment. But why was certainly on her mind, and hopefully she would find out what the hell was going on soon.
