Wiccan FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) by Ivy_tsuki added onto by Luck-in-Spades (redited by Ivy-tsuki)
Q: Are you a good Witch or a bad Witch? A: Just like there are bad people in society there are bad people in every religion. We don't view things as "good" or "bad." If you break the laws of your religion, then you are bad, if you don't your good, same as in regular society.
Q: Do you practice "White" magic or "Black" magic? A: There are no such things as "black" or "white" magic. Weather magic is black or white has to do with the intent of the person. The magic itself is not black or white the person using it directs it to the purpose. And direction harmful energies at an other person would be against the Wiccan Rede: "...and ye harm none, do what ye will."
Q: Is Wicca a religion? A: Yes, I consider it to be. Some say it is not. Wicca is a nationally recognized religion in the USA. As for me, Wicca is a way of life.
Q:How old is Wicca? A: Most will agree that Wicca is about 50-60 years old, as started by Gerald Gardner. There is no written proof that Wicca itself is any older. However, the religion of Wicca IS based off the beliefs of pagans, hindus, and other "ancient" religions, as suggested by Ann Moura in her book History of Modern Witchcraft.
Q: So once I am a Wiccan, I can do magic? A: Not exactly. Technically, Wicca and witchcraft are NOT the same. They are more like what can be represented by a Venn Diagram (overlapping circle diagram). Not all Wiccans practice witchcraft, as not all witches are wiccans. Wicca is the religion, witchcraft is the craft/magic. This is also how Wicca can only be 50-60 years old, while witchcraft is known as present for thousands of years.
Q: I want to be a Witch and learn to cast spells. A: Witchcraft doesn't work that way. You just don?t read a few books and start practicing magic. It's not like the TV magic shows. It's not like stage magic. Examine why you want to be a witch. Are you aware it's a religion?
Q: Do you worship Satan or the Devil? A: Most pagans and Wiccan don't even believe in Satan or the Devil. Worshiping them is part of Christian mythos. We do not seek power through he suffering of others, nor accept the personal benefit can be derived only by denial to another. There was a period during Medieval times where church followers became upset with the workings of the church and "protested" by worhipping Satan/the Devil and wore their crosses upside-down. These people were NOT Wiccans/Pagans/witches, though
Q: Do you do blood sacrifices? A: Absolutely NOT!!! We do not believe in ANY blood sacrifices of ANY kind. We do not sacrifice any living thing for the purposes of the religion or for magic. If we use a fresh flower or herb in a spell, it is suggested that we thank the spirit of the plant for lending itself to help us.
Q: What are male witches called? A: A witch. Both men and women are called witches. Forget what you saw on TV shows.
Q: How do you convert or recruit new Pagan/Wiccans? A: We don't seek to convert or recruit anyone. We do not knock on doors, call on the phone, or otherwise try to take you away from any religion. According to our beliefs, it is the individual who chooses what path they want to follow. It is a personal and private choice.
Q: Isn't the pentagram a symbol of the Devil? A: No. The pentagram is a symbol of the Pagan/Wiccan religion. The pentagram is a five-pointed star in a circle and represents the elements, and the god and goddess as a Union of all things. The star is also present often in nature. Cut an apple in half via the "equator" and look at the shape of the seeds =) Please note that a pentagram upside down is a banishing pentagram and is not evil. How ever many devilworshippers were it as the sign of the goat devil, I really don't know why because I am not a devilworshipper.
Q: Is Wicca a cult? A: No. A cult is defined as a group with a centralized leader, generally trying to recruit others to join, and usually convinced that their leader is of some divine origin. (If you really want to worship some one like a leader I am here ~ Ivy) Some dictionaries will actually define the word "cult" practially the same as ANY religion. So, either, every religion is a cult, or none are =)
Q: How do I learn more about Paganism/Wicca? A: Reading, search online, go to the library, or visit a bookstore.
Q: Can you send me a spell? A: NO!! I do not send out spells. For a person with little or no knowledge of rituals or magic, trying to do spell work, is like an untrained person trying to do brain surgery. I do NOT do spells for love or anything that would force/manipulate someone to do something against their will. If the person is trained and is in need of a spell please IM or PM me and tell me what it is you are trying to do, and why, and I will help you. some people believe that spells are best crafted by the do-er of the spell, as they can attune the points of the spell to themselves. We recommend, here, that nobody actually exchange/request/post spells. It is best to learn about the craft via books/online resources and to learn what components you need to make your own spell. Scott Cunningham, in his book "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner," suggests that anyone can make their own spell. It is the intent and personal power put into them that makes spells successful.
Q: Why won't anyone teach me? A: Well, it depends on your level of maturity, if you are sincere, if you really want to learn or just skip the boring parts, if you are willing to study hard, are you a responsible person? And the big question to ask yourself: WHY do I want to be a Pagan/Wiccan/witch?
Any other things you think I should add to the list tell me. This is just very general. Thanks Aylia who made me do this^^

If anyone has any links they believe would be useful you can post them here and they might get moved into the link post. I haven't found any that really jump out at me but I have plenty I might consider. I just don't want to over load on links list. Ivy, do you think the links posted should have something written by them to say what they lead to like a general, covering all wicca sight as apposed to one on just spells or auras?
