He wasn't sure how to find her, but he knew last time had been somewhere near these parts. Benoni's large frame paced slightly, he didnt know why he expected to find her here once again but he did.
Yei had been so awesomely wonderful during one of his hardships that he'd wanted to see her again. She and him weren't to different really and he supposed thats what made it so easy for him to be, well himself around her. A toss of his long mane and he let out a groan as it fell exactly back into place, hanging down his face and into his eyes which only glowed brighter behind the shade of his mane.
So many things had come to pass since they last chatted, and he was curious of how her life had been as well. He shook his head again, like a chatty young mare wanting to gossip about local stallions is how he felt..he could only grin.
Maybe her herd had moved on..He searched further..maybe today he'd be lucky?

Drama, adventure, life.
Each could be accurately linked to the life of the mare who guarded her harm so loyally. As of late her family had done nothing but battle against the foe that had threatened to change everything they knew. For the most part those upon the lowlands were completely unaware of this beast, yet those upon the slopes fought valiantly to subdue it. Not only had her mate flown into the fray, so too had her eldest son and many others who they knew. As of yet she hadn't heard whether their attempts to banish the fiend had been successful either.
The conflict had taken place in a blind spot, high above the slopes where the mists shrouded them from view. It was done purposefully to prevent those below from being alarmed. However, the inability to keep track of her own family was not the most desirable of situations to find oneself in. Regardless, while some of her family may have chosen to join the frontlines in this conflict other sides of her family were somewhat lighter....after all, one of her children had found true love.
Ah yes, even in the darkness there was light.
Drifting across the slopes in her usual manner, it wasn't long before the fiery mare appears over the slopes nearby Benoni. Nevertheless, having not seen him in quite a number of months it took her a number of moments to recognise his face.
"Well, well, well..." A light smile crossed her equine lips. "It has been a while."

Old age plagued him for a moment, as the familiar voice beckond his attention, as he turned to look upon her. He drew a blank before it smacked him in the face, Yei! A slow grin tugged at the corners of his muzzle as he lifted his head, how long had it been since he smiled? Heavens he couldnt truely remember...
"Aye, it has been..Though time has not seemed to touch you. How are you dear friend?" his tail swayed out behind him a bit, he wouldnt move to close to her. He knew full well she was happily mated, and he didnt need an angry stallion on his tail, wasnt in the mood for such a game.

Yei chuckled softly at the compliment and shook her head, she had to admit that the spirits and time had been kind to her complexion. She kept her beauty and yet had a strength she had once lacked in her youth. All in all she really couldn't ask for more and she was greatful for the gifts she had received. What she had been lacking as of late was company given that her mate and her son had disappeared to take part in a war.
...She had confidence in them but all the same.
Drifting down from her position on the small hillock the mare smiled a little more and extended her muzzle to give him a teasing nudge. Mated she may have been but she was not adverse to giving affection to those who deserved it - even Grencia understood that much!
"I am doing as well as one can," she replied at last as she withdrew and came round to face him, a little off to the side so she remained in his line of sight. "And you?"

He watched her, an easy air danced about him. Different from their first meeting, depression was no longer his shadow, eating away at the stallion. But the effects of it still lingered in his eyes, the weary look of the lonesome of the home he now kept to himself mostly.
And now, he was a grandfather to a pair of colts who were just the greatest..though he knew there was another the chance to meet his third was not within his power and he respected his daughters wishes.
He grinned at the nudge before he gave a playful tug on her locks, her wise looks hid away that playfulness that danced in her eyes, it amused him. "Im, definitely better than when you first met my sorry hide." He grinned and shook his head slightly.

"Sorry hide, eh?" Yei repeated and raised a brow, leaning back on her hooves to inspect the tall stallion better. It was true that he looked considerably healthier, there was a spark in his eyes that hadn't been there before. It would have been wrong of her to say the darkness had completely left him, but something or someone had taken the time to pull him out of the gutter. There was no denying he couldn't escape his past but perhaps a tiny part of him had accepted it and drawn strength from it - he looked much better now.
It pleased her.
"I will admit that when I first met you your mane was in need of a good brush, but I would hardly have taken you for 'sorry' anything," she pointed out. She was genuine in this, her smile warm as she recalled their first encounter. He had been a defeated stallion at that point, but there had always been a strength in him that set him apart from those who 'pitied' themselves for an eternity. The very fact that he had taken the chance to mature and to grow stronger indicated as much - he was being overly critical.
"You are far too hard on yourself, Benoni..." at last releasing a sigh, she tilted her head to the side and observed the stallion in a more relaxed manner. "But all greetings and reunions aside, what brings you up onto the slopes today - I have to admit the number of mares here is lacking as of late...they've all descended the slopes to find playmates!"

When he felt Yei inspect him, he couldnt help but puff out his chest, let his more easy smile take over his features. It was like being ranked by the queen, Yei was everything he could have ever needed in a friend, and she appeared in his worst of times. Exactly when he needed someone like her, she didnt sugar coat things, but she wasnt cruel either. Her open honesty was the sweetest thing, even if you didnt want to hear it.
He hadnt at the time, but now was ever so thankful to her. Benoni would always be in debt to the mare before him.
"Should I shrink down?" he teased her a bit with a arched brow, he knew he was tall and sometimes it proved to be more of a problem than a blessing. Damn tree branches..
"My mane needs a good lion tamer.." He grumbled a bit, giving his long locks a look of grump before a grin took over once again. "If I hadnt met you that day, I'd still be a sorry sight." He shook out his mane a bit, some how it now always landed in his face, a bit of mystery to him added to his more mature features.
At her final comment, his eyes widened, his mouth with slack as he raced for an answer. He wasnt mare hunting..no no, just looking for company..was that the same thing? His cheeks flared with a blush as he couldnt help but grin like a school boy. "Erm, ah didnt come up here for mares." He hadnt been expecting that at all. "I knew you'd come down sooner or later. Or so I had hoped, its been a long time. Im even a grandfather now..But erm..ah no im not looking for mares..erm..yeah." He shifted on his hooves.

Yei immediately began to laugh as Benoni lost all his composure. She had never been one to be subtle, thus she had never considered the impact her observation might have had. She could have been terribly mean and pointed out that on occasions 'company' meant the exact same thing. However, his blush was sufficient enough to entertain her and as a result she spared him further embarassment. Permitting him enough time to regain his composure, she waited patiently and then spoke herself...
"A tall stallion, is a good stallion," she pointed out wisely before shaking her head. "However a posturing stallion might risk being giggled at if he did that to the wrong lady," she teased gently. Regardless of her age she probably would have giggled at his behaviour. There was something inherently funny about a male posturing, to this day she still found it amusing when she watched her children and mate do it during spars. Thrusting one's chest out was fine but...surely there should have been enough muscle there to begin with?
"So long as you carry yourself with confidence there is no shame in towering above others, provided you maintain some level of modesty..." she mused more to herself than others. On occasions she often believed that certain individuals in Islagiatt had forgotten this little bit of information. Unfortunately, she hadn't had the opportunity to tell them off or correct their behaviour - they were at that rebellious stage though.
"As for your hair...I would say it adds character."
It was then that she fell silent and sauntered towards him in a relaxed manner. Circling his form, she inspected him 'piece by piece' before flashing another of her wiley and mischevous smiles. "But don't lie to me when you say you're not after a mare - a healthy stallion like you needs one," she teased in an almost devilish manner.

As she laughed, he couldnt help but chuckle himself. She'd really got him there, but it had been the truth. Besides looking for her once again, he always kept an eye out for an interesting female to chat with, what harm could it do to just talk to a mare? Well these days, plenty..seems "talking" did an awfully lot. He wanted more in a companion than just talking though..
"Seems giggling is the lease of my problems today.." He shook his head slightly, with a grin. "Ive got tall covered, and then a bit extra.." He didnt mind his height, but he didnt want to ever scare some innocent because of it. That was not his kind of thing...
"Im usually pretty confident in myself, unless you know..I've had a nasty run in with a sapping tree and my mane is this way and that way..Then Im a bit..disheveled." His tail coiled up his hip and swatted away a pesky bug that had landed there. He didnt dislike bugs, but some just were not his cup of tea. His daughter was one of the most modesty creatures he'd ever met, she was definitely something new to the world, in an old world sense. He wondered if Yei would like his daughter Anemone..surely she'd be amused by his grandcolt Heph.
"It adds something alright.." He shook his head. His hair and him would ever be battling against one another...
He couldnt help but laugh now, a rumbling sound made its way up his chest. "Oh but my dearest...there could only be you.." He leaned his head back at her now, a teasing grin placed clearly upon his features, eyes danced with laughter.

'Tall' was not something that intimidated those who lived on the slopes. Many of Islagiatt were exceptionally tall and the males more than females tended to tower above most. Admittedly, there were a number of petite females in the herd but even they remained unphased by the height of their fellow herdmates. After all, in Islagiatt all were taught that image wasn't everything - it certainly helped, but it didn't serve as a way to end a discussion. Unfortunately there were a few young and reckless individuals that thought as much but she didn't mind, in time they would mature and become as well rounded as the rest.
However as he made reference to his hair and the hassle he often encounters against certain things she could only smirk. He was complaining about sapping trees? This was a legitimate complaint and she could see his reasons for being less that happy with such a situation but for one with hair as long as hers it was somewhat ironic. Given her locks trailed along the ground she generally ended up with foliage and twigs adding nearly double the weight to her head! She would sooner have the sap than the added weight - personally.
"As I said, being dishevelled adds to one's character. If you are secure in yourself and can wear any image then you will have success," she pointed out quietly. In years gone by she had been concerned with appearance but as she had aged she had learnt that a little mud never hurt anyone. She was content in how she looked. Age truly did have an impact on one's character and after a few moments she flashed another of her smiles and tilted her head to the side.
It was his laughter and teasing grin though, that coaxed her out of her contented lull and she arched a brow. She hadn't heard a male jest so lightly in such a long time, they were always so serious and spoke with such intent when they addressed her. Thus her ears swivelled and pivoted as she caught up with his joke and smirked.
"Oho, is that so?" she enquired softly, offering a gentle nudge to his neck. "There are going to be hundreds of mares heartbroken by such a declaration, how could you be so thoughtless?" she teased. She was of course a mare who believed in having one mate only, though she was aware that others had differing preferences.
