Both.
Gibson is over-priced, they're quality has gone down-hill and such. I'd like a Gibson, but I'm not spending $2000 mostly because of the name. Better alternatives are Epiphone, Agile, Greco, Burny, Edwards, and others (depending on your budget).
Fender. Love Fender, but I must admit they do over-charge a bit themselves. Frankly, I like my Fender Tele, but right now, I CANNOT take my eyes of the new Squier Classic Vibe Tele and the series. Tele-pine-goodness. I know Agile and Edwards make some Fender copies. Can't forget G&L either. A bit more "classic Fender" than Fender is now-a-days.
Bottom Line: Both good brands, both have their faults and such, but there's a damn good reason they are two of the most popular brands today. In the end though, I am a Tele man, so I like Fender more.

I'd have to say Fender. I quite enjoy the fender bass I have. It's a squire jazz.

I dont like both, but I like Gibson's branch, Epiphone, they are cheap, and pretty good at sound and quality...

....not this again....
I would say neither since both of them outsource most of their guitar construction and the quality control has really slipped.
But, if we're talking guitars, I'd say Gibson because that's really all they do. Fender is too busy making amps and other stuff to fully concentrate on their guitars.
I really don't think it's fair to compare these two anymore. They're still the "giants" of the classic rock side but I wouldn't consider them worth buying much of anymore.

They're both good and bad in their own ways.
I personally don't see what the deal is with all the "Squier is the worst!" thing... I have a Squier and it's pretty good. To be really honest with you, I really couldn't see the difference between my Squier Strat and a regular Strat...
Gibsons are OK.

MAKQ jacksons are okay , they havent made a really good one in years . Kinda like gibson , which is okay . It just makes in harder to find a really good one . I don't think a company has to continually make new guitars for them to be good, and jacksons have made plenty of amazing models. Your opinion must depend on what models you've used. The Jackson Dinky is complete shi*, which is probably the only fail of the company. But the Jackson Soloist, RR1, and RR5 feel amazing.

Even the RR1 of last had some problems coming out of the factory . Maybe its just me , but then again i played on some awesome jacksons . Then again they were pretty old like in the 90's .
