Angela laid the file she had been reading aside, and gave a satisfied nod. Her next appointment was Kilken, a leech. Everything had already been set up on the counter, and Angela leaned back in her chair as she waited, doodling idly on a notepad on the desk.

Kliken looked up at Than and gave the man a bit of a lop sided smile, "Thanks for taking me." He murmured. The appointment ended up being scheduled for the day time hours so his mother's friend was drafted to come along instead of her.
Her sadness over being unable to be there while he got his shots showed in her eyes, her trust of her familiar showed in allowing the man to bring Kliken on his own.
"Its alright, my Mistress asked me to come." He said, then looked over at the leech boy and smiled, "Besides, I don't mind." It was only a little bit of a lie, he never liked to be out of earshot of Lucrecia in case he was needed but for the moment it was her boy that needed his help more, "I think this is the place."
Than lifted one bandaged hand up to knock on the door before opening it up. He ushered Kliken in first before following along after him, "Good afternoon." He greeted the woman who was standing there.
Kliken tightened his hold on the man's other hand, drew in a deep breath to steady his nerves before he followed suit, "H-Hello, I-I'm Kliken." He said, unable to keep a nervous stutter out of his voice. Around people he knew he had gotten better about it, strangers though...

Angela had stood up at the knock and smiled before responding to the man, "Good afternoon. It is a pleasure to meet you. Are you Kliken's guardian? The file said... well, that's not important. Thank you for bringing him in today."
Then, she looked down at the child and smiled warmly. He was a cutie, but oh! He sounded nervous. Well, she'd do her best to alleviate that.
"Hello, Kliken," she said, keeping her voice even and gentle.
"My name is Angela, and I'll be giving you your shots today. It's a pleasure to meet you, as well," she continued, and gestured to the padded table a few feet away, the little vials set up nearby, along with some gloves and the needle.
"Could you climb up, please? Do you have any questions?" she asked. She thought that if she could answer his questions beforehand, he might be less nervous. Or maybe she was assuming. Perhaps she'd get to know the children better the longer she worked here.

Than gave a respectful bow of his head, "Mistress Lucrecia was unable to attend today, she sends her apologies and greetings." He said, standing against the wall next to the door to allow the Kliken to go forward and do what needed to be done.
Kliken walked over to the woman, looking over at all the stuff that she had set up before taking in a deep, steadying, "H-Hello." He said, giving her a smile that showed pointed teeth before he did as the lady asked and got up on the table.
He looked a little unsure about the idea of shots, they sounded bad but his mother had told him there would be little more then a tiny pinch and it would be over. He trusted her word and sat ready, arms held out for Angela, "Mom said it wouldn't hurt to much." He said to the lady, hoping for her assurance that his mother was correct.

Angela nodded, and gently touched one of his arms, lowering it to his side.
"Your mother is quite right. It hardly hurts at all," she replied with another smile.
Now that they were down to business, she pulled on her gloves and swabbed his upper arm with alcohol before turning to prepare the needle.
"You may look away if that would make you more comfortable," she offered, not wanting Kilken to feel like he needed to watch, adding with a sigh, "I myself prefer to get shots without watching."
Very shortly thereafter, the needle was prepped, the injection was done, and a piece of gauze was pressed over the site and gently rubbed.
"And there it is, all finished!" she said as she dropped the used needle into a bucket for that purpose.

While the idea of looking away had been one that was very tempting Kliken hadn't been able too, instead his eyes were wide as he watched the needle p***k his skin and inject whatever the syringe held. He was somewhat fascinated, enough so that he didn't even really feel the bite of the needle, "Wow, that was it?" He asked, surprised.
He starred at the gauze as a tiny red dot appeared on it, not enough to cause him any worry though. After all given his diet blood was the thing lowest on his list of what he was afraid of, "Just one? Or are there more?" He asked of the lady.

Angela smiled, "Yes, that was it. You did very well, Kliken. And yes, that is all. You actually received several when you were very little, and labtechs here have done a good job of getting everything you need now into one shot," she said, nodding.
She removed the gauze and saw that there was a tiny bit of bleeding still, so she put a bandage on it with a gentle pat.
"And, that's that. Well, almost, anyway," she said, and turned to the desk, gesturing to the container there.
"Would you care for a sucker? It's traditional, after all," she finished, amusement plain in her voice.

Kliken starred at the suckers with wide eyes before he shook his head, " Thank you, but Than can have mine." He said, looking to the man who had been quiet the entire time, moving to fetch one that was the same color as the shirt Than wore.
Than gave a smile, stepping forward to take the small, sweet tasting gift from the boy, "Thank you." He murmured, before looking at Angela, "He seems only to be able to process normal leech food, other stuff seems to upset it." He explained to her, not wanting her to think that Kliken didn't appreciate her offer.

Angela nodded, and said, "I understand. It was very nice of you to think of Than, though, Kliken."
As she moved the little group towards the door, she explained, "Now, there could be a little soreness where I gave the shot, but that should pass in a day or so. If you have any questions or concerns, my number is available."
At the door, she smiled down at Kliken. He really had been very sweet.
"I hope to see you in my classes someday, Kliken. And, I hope both of you have a good day," she said, holding out her hand to first Than, then Kliken to shake.

Than tucked the candy away into a pocket so that he could reach his hand out, shaking that of the woman before he gave his hand to Kliken who gladly took it, "We will call if anything comes up." He said to the woman, bowing his head in a respectful manner before heading out.
Kliken waved his had at the woman, giving her a bright, sharp toothed smile, "I can't wait to see you in class." He said happily before the two of them were gone.

Angela smiled, and it was a few degrees brighter than her previous kind smiles. She liked being appreciated, and Kliken had just made her day.
"Thank you, dear. I will look forward to having you in my classes," she replied, waving back at both of them as they left.
