Angela bustled about the vaccination room, finishing her preparations for the two boys that were to come in for their shots. A pair of jaguars, their files said, and they were brothers.
As a last minute thought, she pulled out the electric razor. Jaguars had rather thick fur, as she recalled, and she didn't want it to cause problems.
Now, she'd wait until it was time for their appointment; it should be soon, according to the clock on the wall. She retired to her desk to read the files once more.

A light rapping at the door sounded shortly after followed by the turn of the door knob. Without waiting for a response, the door slid ajar partially so that Penn could peek inside. It didn't look too different from one would expect from the facilities. It was clean and had that sterile smell most medical rooms came standard with.
"Knock knock." He said casually as his two sons wriggled their way into the room around his legs to investigate. He however remained out in the hall. The cursory glance was more than enough to tell him that this room plus his large wings would not bode well. The boys didn't seem to mind it as they looked about curiously.

Angela smiled as the boys slid in around their guardian's legs, and she gave the man in the hallway a smile in greeting. They were just in time, very punctual, and she could appreciate that.
She looked down at the brothers, and said, "Hello, you two. You must be Ausleir and Sascha, right? My name is Angela, and I'll be giving you your shots."

Sacha, the more forward of the two skipped happily to her desk, grabbing at the ledge with his tiny paws as he tried to peek over the top of the desk at her. "Zat's our names!" he beamed brightly. His smile faded into a look of confusion. "Another von??"
At the mention of shots, Auslier hung back reluctantly contemplating the door. It wasn't the idea of the needle that bothered him, they had already had a run in with those contraptions before. "Are you goink to take blud too?" He mewled his ears laying back as he looked to his father expectantly. "I don't vant to loos more blud, Poppi..." He was still getting over his cold and the idea of being stuck again for no reason didn't sit too well.
Penn looked to the boy smiling sympathetically, "Don't worry, dear. This shot's so you both don't get sick again." He looked to Angela with a faint nod, "Isn't that right?"

"That's right, this is just a vaccination. It will help you to not get sick in the future," Angela said, nodding, then came around the desk to get a better look at the two of them. They werejust too adorable, and she had to resist a sudden urge to cuddle the two of them up.
Instead, she turned around to face the table to hide her expression, and pulled the tray with the bottles, needles, and the razor off to one side.
"Could you two please climb up here? I'm sure you're very good at climbing," she said with a smile as she turned back around.

Comforted by the news, especially Auslier, the boys didn't protest further. They did however take a cautious step back as she rose to her feet. She wasn't taller than their father, but at their age all grown ups were giants and usually meant it was best not the get underfoot. They watched her walk to the table and at the mention of climbing, Sacha was already hot on her heels. Bubbling at boyish glee now given permission to actually climb something in the room.
"Ja! Ve climb real goot!" He crouched slightly, readying himself and gave a hearty leap at the table top. Not quite as graceful as his more feral cousins but he made it up none the less. Once there he puffed up pridefully at Angela.
His brother rolled his eyes and took a different approach. Finding something with a bit of a foothold, he sprung the rest of the way up onto the table without much fuss looking at his brother haughtily and got a tongue stuck out at him for his troubles.

A bright smile had emerged on Angela's face at their antics, and she applauded politely, serrepticiously checking to see what their father thought of it all.
"Yes, very good at climbing, indeed, both of you!" she replied.
She considered the two of them, and decided that they might respond best by having everything explained to them in ways that they, as youngsters, could understand.
So, in that line of thought, she gestured to the tray.
"Could I have your attention, please?" she asked, and waited until she had it, patiently.
"The first thing to do is, sadly, shave off a patch of your lovely fur on your upper arms. That's so I can use the alcohol swab that will kill any germs in the area where I'll give the shot," she said, matter-of-factly, and pointed in turn to the razor, and then to the alcohol swabs in their little tear-open pouches.

With his usual catlike grin, the orange skinned man shrugged the shoulder leaning against door frame. "Any climbing that doesn't involve climbing up my pant legs, walls or anywhere dangerous is very good climbing to me." He joked loosely and both boys smiled just as innocently as ever. They were good boys. Totally not little terrors at all!
At her instruction the boys both fell into a military silence, two pairs of alert eyes watching her as she spoke. Both sets of little round ears twitching a they listened attentively.
"Oh! Joo mean liek how mommy zhaves hiz face sometime??" Sacha pipped up waving a hand in the air to speak; as he was taught of course. "I didn't know zat vas vhy!" Penn blinked and took a step back out of the doorway fishing his cellphone from his pocket and hit a button on the touch pad.
"Yeah hon?..yeah.. how are you? Good great listen. Do me a favor and hide our atache cases. MMhmm.. I love you too, bye~.." He cooed into the phone and leaned back into the doorway grinning widely. "Swabs! Awesome!"
Auslier was the only one not so easy going about this whole thing. "... It vill come back.. ja..?"
"Of course, honey. That's why mommy has to keep shaving or he'll grow all fuzzy on his face." Penn reassured drawing a curly mustache on his face with two fingers. Aus snickered faintly and nodded looking back up at Angela and both boys held out their arms.

Angela smiled, utterly charmed by the two boys, though she definitely had hints of how much mischeif they could get into, with the phone call and the description of their climbing habits.
"This will just take a second..." Angela said, trailing off and pursing her lips slightly as she flicked on the electric razor. It made a quiet buzzing noise, and very quickly there were wisps of fur falling to the floor, and two bare patches on two small arms.
Turning the razor off again, Angela gave a satisfied nod, and brushed off a few clinging hairs with her fingertips. It was an odd sort of look, that area that lacked fur, but since they matched, it didn't look entirely out of place.
"There. And now, I'll do this in turn. Would one of you like to volunteer to go first?" she asked, holding up one of the alcohol swabs.

The shaving part wasn't so bad for the most part. Both boys watching her attentively as she cleared an area of their arms in more or less the same place. Both of their skin was pale under the fuzz, nearly undetectable on Auslier aside from the missing patch of spots. Looking to one another thoughtfully, Auslier rose his hand. He was the elder brother after all. It was hi job to get the ouchies first so his brother could see it wasn't so bad after all. Penn watched quietly from the door frame, mulling on something before speaking up.
"Hey, doc, aside from regular sicknesses will me and Gotts have to worry about...err...Animal based sicknesses as well?" He asked hesitantly. Not really wanting to have to refer to his children as animals.

Angela paused in her motion towards Ausleir, and thought about it for a second.
"It seems unlikely to me, and no one ever warned me of such things when I was receiving my training. I think that if there were to be some mutating of diseases due to the novel genetics involved, everyone would be notified very quickly," she answered, after considering it for a moment.
Then she added, "However, I can look into it for you, if you would like. Were you wondering if you would need vaccinations as well?" she asked with a smile.

Pointed ears perking slightly at the comment, Penn snickered and shook his head. "I've heard of thoughts being infectious but I doubt they meant in that way." He smiled warmly at his two boys who merely looked on curiously at their conversation. "I do appreciate that though. I would just like to prevent any future worry is all." Auslier and Sacha wiggled on the table their attention spans starting to wan slightly as would those of most children.

"Well, I'll ask those who know more about the genetics than myself, and I will send you what they tell me. Or perhaps they will, I'm not sure. However, we have two very active boys waiting to go play, I'm sure, so let's continue," she said, and winked at the two children who had started fidgeting.
She used the alcohol swab on Ausleir's upper arm, and as it dried, she prepped the first needle, making as little of a production out of it as possible. She knew from her own experiences that the more the needle was shown off, the more nervous she tended to get, and wanted to spare the kids that when they came in.
Then she turned to Ausleir, set the needle against his skin, and pushed the plunger, all in one smooth motion, not giving him time to tense up. Then it was over, and the first needle was disposed of with one hand while she pressed a piece of gauze over the site with the other. Angela rubbed gently for a few moments to help spread out the injection and minimize the soreness.
"There, that wasn't too bad, was it?" she asked the young Jaguar, keeping her tone upbeat.

It didn't hurt so much as it was just a curious sensation. It happened so fast but left it's impression as it seemed shots seemed to have a tendancy to do as of late. Like a quick pinch and then a weird tingle in the area where she rubbed the gauze. Ears laying back as he sniffed curiously only to be met with a pretty unpleasant odor.
"Zat.. vasn't -so- bad.." He mumbled abently rubbing at the bald patch of skin on his arm when she was done. He wasn't a fan, but he put on a brave face for his brother. "May... I get down now?" he asked politely. Sacha watched the whole scene with rapt facination. It seemed almot impossible for the tube of liquid to get pushed so quickly into the skin. And where did it go anyway?? Knowing it was his turn now, he puffed himself up and put on a tough face. If his brother could do it again then he could to! So there he sat, arm at the ready, ears flattened and lip tucked in tightly.

Angela wouldn't dream of embarrassing the young boys, but they really were too cute for words, acting tough like that. So, she just smiled, and nodded at Ausleir.
"Yes, you may, Ausleir. You were very good! And now, it's Sascha's turn," the doctor said, and repeated the same process with the second boy: Alcohol swab, prepping the needle, and then a quick poke and a steady pressure on the plunger followed closely by the gauze and the same gentle rubbing.
