The sun was settling down to let the moon rise up around the time Aislin set off. She was hungry and her "pack" was already done hunting for the day. She hadn't eaten much of the daily catch since she wasn't hungry at the time and was beginning to regret it. The only option was to go out to catch herself a late afternoon snack. This wasn't something she minded. Hunting was always some sort of game to her. She loved to compare her catches to her brothers' like it was some sort of competition. Her brother Keefer had beaten her catch today so now she had a chance to redeem herself.
On her quest for food, she had wandered into territory she wasn't familiar with. There were some man made structures nearby. Most of them seemed abandoned and broken down. Humans didn't seem to be around. Her nose had caught the scent of a few rats however. She brought her red scaled face close to the ground to sniff the black concrete under her feet. A scent of a fresher rat caught her nose. The raptor couldn't help, but grin at the success of her find. Maybe there were some rather large rats around here. Giant ones even. Now wouldn't that impress her brothers?

It was going to get dark soon and Boaz knew it. He didn't come to this conclusion by looking out one of the dusty and dirtied windows that had long since let a breeze in, but from looking down at the strange human item held gently in his claws. Gray eyes focused on the two hands of the golden pocketwatch as they slowly moved across the white face each minute at a time. The raptor was currently sitting in as humanlike of a way as he could on the faded green couch in the apartment's living room with a half eaten tin of anchovies. A sigh escaped the charcoal and gold raptor's lips as he closed the watch lightly, a gleam of light bouncing off the shined golden exterior. Since it was going to get dark it was better to go let in the last of the light until he could light one of the candles. Boaz stood up slowly, letting the pocketwatch dangle lightly from his right foreclaws, and he went over to one of the windows. With his yellow claws he pushed the dusty curtain away to let the fading light into the room and so he could see what was outside in the world tonight.
Boaz gazed out at the world outside his apartment. In front of him were several other buildings that had been abandoned, but due to the crumbling of one of them, he could look past it and see so much more. A skyline, some wilderness, it was all so interesting but out of reach for him. He lowered his gaze slowly to the street, only two floors away. The typical dull concrete and asphalt seemed like nothing new until he noticed there was some movement. Boaz did a double take as he looked at the tan, black, and red raptor sniffing along the ground. No kimera that big ever came through this way. He pressed his left claws against the glass making tiny clinking sounds and he gazed in awe as he confirmed it was in fact a very fluffy raptor. It had been so long since he had seen anything and he wasn't sure if he was imagining it.

Aislin followed the scent of the rat up to a building. A low growl escaped her as she realized it probably found a way into the manmade structure through the small hole that was even too small for Aislin to fit her nose. Human buildings could be difficult to get into if there weren't enough holes that she herself could even at least try to make a little bigger so she could fit through them. What an annoying rat. Aislin would have to look around the building some more if she were to pursue it any further. After taking a step away from where the rat had escaped to, clinking sounds from the building next to the one she had been inspecting caught her "ears". Her head snapped around and looked up at where the sound came from.
Something was there, a possibly bigger something than a rat. Since it was far away, she couldn't tell what it possibly was, but it had to be more awarding to find it rather than chase after a rat. She rushed over to the building quickly. She was excited by the chance of finding something big to eat and she wasn't going to let her chance get away if possible, but once again the whole manmade building thing was getting in her way. The thing up there might run away if she didn't hurry. Curiously, she tapped her paws again the door, making knocking noises. It was actually her way of testing to see how old the door was. Sometimes these "doors" would fall over after rotting for a while.

Boaz watched as the other raptor continued to track what he could only guess would be a rat. He personally didn't care for the rats that occasionally found their way into the buildings, both as company and as food. The human food his owners had left him were beginning to dwindle, but the other apartments probably had some food in stock left over from the hurried migration. He had only left his apartment a few times and mostly it was to kill the weaker non-tasty kimera that didn't talk. Boaz glanced back down at the ground and noticed that the raptor was looking at him. He blinked several times wondering if she had actually seen him and was going to investigate or if she was just looking at the building. He watched as she hastily darted towards the entrance to the building. She must have seen me... he thought as he backed away from the window slowly.
A few moments later he heard knocking noises echoing through the mostly empty building. Grey eyes darted to the door as he slowly approached it. The mutant raptor must have been trying to get in the building or something since she was "knocking." Boaz looked to the buzzer next to the door, wondering if it still worked and if he should press it. After a few moments he pressed the buzzer, hearing the crackle of static as it attempted to open communications with the front door. Hearing nothing more than static he pressed the button to open the door, hoping it was doing better than the speaker system.

Aislin jumped and backed up after hearing the static noises coming from somewhere around the doorway. She growled at it until it disappeared, since there was now something else to be a bit more curious about. The door opened, but not in a way she had expected. The female raptor cautiously took a step into the building. She sniffed at the door, checking to see if it had been a living thing all along and she hadn't noticed. No, it wasn't living. It must of been some human technology on the fritz. It worked well for her, however. Now she didn't have to think about breaking in.
The scent of another raptor soon reached her nose. She didn't think much of it. It was possible another raptor had found a way in with the same intentions of finding a meal running around as well. It did smell oddly fresh however. She would have to keep her guard up just in case it wasn't friendly.

Boaz listened for the sound of the door opening and was pleasantly surprised that it had in fact worked. The door must have been on a battery and not on the main electrical grid that the rest of the neighborhood was on. The gray and gold raptor frowned slightly, what was he supposed to do now? He hadn't thought that far in advance. She didn't look like a domesticated raptor, she could be very hostile and unruly if he wasn't careful. He then realized that she was probably in the building and it would be best to know where exactly she was.
The raptor slowly unlocked the door with a light clicking sound before pulling the door inwards to open just enough so there was only one small sliver of light coming from the room into the hallway. Gray eyes glanced cautiously over at the elevator and then to the stairwell. He doubted that the elevator still worked, so it was much more likely she'd take the stairs. So he watched and waited, thinking of what to say to the mutant raptor in the building.

Aislin was growing more suspicious as the scent of the raptor grew stronger. The scent of raptor was almost everywhere. It was almost as if one lived in this building, but she didn't think that was likely. No, definitely not. She had never heard of such a thing like a raptor living in a building. Things seemed a bit too clean to assume a raptor had made it into a den. The female growled a bit in confusion. Maybe she was being tricked.
Her red eyes caught sight of the stairs. She picked her head up from smelling the ground to stair at it for a few moments. That was a way to get onto another floor most likely and that was where she had seen whatever it was in that window. Cautiously she walked over to the stairs and sniffed at it. A frustrated growl escaped her after she took one step onto the strange structure. It wasn't made for creatures that had feet like hers. If only the humans had made it a bit wider. Carefully, she began to make her way up while she sniffed the air every once in a while.

The gray and gold raptor listened closely for the other raptor, hearing a slight growl. Maybe this was a really bad idea. Boaz couldn't decide, but one thing was for sure, he was in it now and there was no real way to escape. Well, there was a fire escape not too far away, but he doubted he could get the door that lead to it open, it had rusted shut. His eyes drifted downwards as he checked the pocket watch to see how much time had elapsed. The raptor frowned, he had forgotten to check it when she entered the building, so it was later than he expected.
Soon however he heard the sound of the other raptor slowly climbing the stairs. Stairs were tricky and even he had tried to avoid them with his owner by taking the elevator, but this was no longer the case with the lack of electricity. His light gray eyes darted back to the stairs, he wouldn't want to be caught off guard if she turned hostile.

Aislin was starting to grow a bit uncomfortable, and it wasn't just because the stairs didn't exactly fit her feet. The scent of the raptor kept growing stronger. She could now almost be assured that there just hadn't been a raptor around, but there was one waiting for her at the top of these stairs. Was this all a trap that she was walking into? Maybe she should have dragged one of her brothers with her to back her up.
She neared the top of the stairs. It wouldn't have taken so long for her to get there if it hadn't been for the stairs being too small. Her tail hit the wall as she swished it to the side. A growl of annoyance escaped her. She didn't have enough room to move around on the stair well. The moment she got off she felt relieved that she no longer had to deal with it, but now there was something different to deal with. "I was right; a raptor besides me is around here..." She said as she narrowed her eyes at the sight of the normal looking raptor. He was more like her mother than herself since he obviously wasn't a mutant. "Is this YOUR territory or not? You're quiet for someone who just had their territory evaded by a stranger. You must have noticed me..." Aislin tried to seem confident, but she was already taking a step back towards the stairs, just in case the raptor wanted to surprise her with an attack. It had been a while since she had to deal with a situation like this, well actually this was the first time...

Boaz blinked a few times at the other raptor. Her voice sounded confident enough when she questioned him, but the fact she was backing up towards the stairs meant she might have been unsure and was being cautious. He frowned a bit for a moment while he digested the conversation so far. Of course there was another raptor, he'd been the only raptor in the building for quite a while. Most of th other owner's preferred serpopards for their loyalty. Next, the territory question troubled him since he didn't think in terms of territory. He'd always just assumed it was his owners' apartment, not his, although he was the only kimera residing in the building to his knowledge. Boaz figured it must be his territory if there was no other competition in the area, except the raptor before him. Which meant of course he was quiet for having his territory disturbed, he only had just realized it was his territory.
Gray eyes shifted to the inside of the apartment towards the windows he had glanced out not too long ago as he mulled over her last statement. Slowly they flitted over to the button he had pressed that had lead to this conversation. He decided to ignore the first question or two since he wasn't sure if arguing about territories was a wise thing to do in front of the wild mutant. The raptor took a light breath of air as he tried to formulate the words into kimera. "Of course I noticed you," he said in a calm and matter-of-factly tone, "I let you in here."

Aislin stopped backing up. She didn't know what to think about the other raptor's answer. He didn't seem threatening, but she had no idea what to think about a raptor like this one. He was living in a house after all, a human house. He didn't really seem to care that she was in here at all too. It was different. "You don't care?" She repeated and frowned. "I find that hard to believe. What if I was dangerous? Are you foolish? You don't know me yet you let me in here? Wait... how could you let me in here?" Her eyes widened a bit. "That door, you know how to handle human devices? That's insane. Why would a raptor even care about stupid stuff like that?" Aislin, however, did find it impressive that he could work such a strange device; it didn't mean she would admit it though.
She took a step forward towards the raptor to test his reaction. She even stretched her head out to get a closer look at the other. "Is this a trap? Are there others? I have family you know made of mostly males. They won't be happy if they find me hurt. Not to mention I'm tough to deal with myself. If you're up to something tell me now or you'll pay for it later."

He tilted his head slightly in confusion at the raptor's quick fire questions and assumptions. She didn't seem to be handling all of this too well. Perhaps this wasn't a very good idea after all. Boaz noticed as she took a step forward, choosing to do nothing to show he wasn't going to be hostile to her. He decided to skip over some of the more judgmental rapid fire questions before continuing. "Of course I know how to handle and operate human devices. I've lived here my whole life and it was expected of me to help around the house."
So she had a family and wasn't some lone raptor. All males, well that would explain why she was trying to appear more confident. This mutant raptor was giving away quite a bit about herself and yet he still didn't know her name. Formalities apparents, did not extend to the wild. He went on to the last questions and threats, to hopefully re-assure her. "This is not a trap and I am, alone..." For a moment a hint of sadness flashed across his features but he forced the emotions quickly back to his calm and polite demeanor. "I don't know how I can prove that to you, but it is certainly not a trap."

Aislin took a step back again. She had heard of kimera living among humans under Sarlost's wing, but she had never heard of them living in human households. By the sounds of things, it was like he was actually living with humans. "Wait, are you trying to tell me, you used to live with humans.... and you've acted like one?" She questioned curiously. Her eyes widened a bit. "I don't have anything against humans, but that's sort of.... unusual."
Aislin began to calm down as she noticed the expression on his face. He really didn't seem like the type that would attack anything. A sigh escaped her and she looked around. "Fine. I believe you. I doubt a house pet like you could hurt me anyway. I don't understand why you're alone though. Sounds like you live among humans..." She frowned a bit as she wondered if something had happened. Once again she moved closer and sniffed the air. There were definitely no other raptors in the room, unless they were hiding their scent. "My name's Aislin, by the way. I guess its okay to tell you my name now that I know all you wanted was company... or I assume that's all you want from me."

Boaz was beginning to wonder how different he really was. Were humans that strange to everyone else? "I was in fact raised by humans and I lived with them. They were my family and I was one of their own." A smile crossed his face as he thought of fonder times. Gray eyes glanced down to the golden pocket watch in his claws causing the smile to falter for a moment. His gaze returned to the raptor before him as he politely continued on.
"I am Boaz, and it is a pleasure to meet you Aislin." A smile crossed the raptor's face as he bowed his head politely for a moment. "Company is all I ask, as its always nice to meet new kimera." He lifted his head once more to meet her gaze as he chuckled softly. "Now where are my manners today," He slowly pulled open the door into the apartment and gestured towards the interior with the foreclaws not currently holding his treasured golden object, "It would be quite rude of me not to ask you if you would like to come in. Perhaps a snack would be in order as well?"

Aislin blinked a few times as she listened to the other speak. Was it just her, or did he talk funny? Aislin was puzzled on how to react. A raptor raised by a human to be like a human? Such things happened? She decided not to ask anymore for now. Things were strange enough."Yeah, nice to meet you too..." She mumbled and tilted her head to the side. His open hospitality wasn't something she would normally she'd expect from a complete stranger.
The mention of food made the situation seem better. Getting food was Aislin's purpose after all. She wanted to hunt it herself, but she was too hungry to care at the moment. "A snack? Food right? There’s food here? I thought there would be rats. I must have been right after all." The female grinned at herself and stepped into the apartment that the raptor allowed her to go in. She looked around cautiously for a moment since the 'territory' was all new to her. "Nice of you to share your food with me..." She paused and looked back at the other. He had been playing around with something that had caught her eye. She leaned her head in to look at the golden object. "What is that thing you got there? It doesn't smell like food. Looks human..."
