It's actually a pretty nice picture you've got there!
I salute you for not hiding the hands like some people do.
I like the way you have drawn them.
You said you didn't have much experience drawing males, right?
Well, I can tell you now, for an adult (so I'm assuming) male, he should have more broad shoulders, and with that, a thicker torso.
I'm not sure if it's me or not, but his arms seem to be a tad bit on the short side.
But seriously, please keep up the good work!
I hope to see more form you soon.

I'm not sure of the arms are short so much as the arms/hands are slightly smallish. His sleeves are supposed to look baggy, so I'm not quite sure. sweatdrop
I'll fix up the shoulders and the torso, he is supposed to be 17-18, so adult would be about right.

When you extend his arms, do they go down to his mid-thigh?

They do. I tend to use the crotch area as a marker for wrists unless the character is in really baggy pants.

Yeah, the baggy sleeves are making it hard for me to decide if the hands are too small or not. sweatdrop
I keep measuring the arm, and the length is right (though not 100% on the hand size/length)...maybe if I change it's position so the hand sits a little lower? I'm not sure yet.

OK, I fixed the hand. The image is a little light, but you should be able to see enough of it, and it is just a sketch at this stage.
