In 1983 a russian submarine had discovered an under water city with amphibious inhabitants. The city was infact the lost city of atlantis. The Goverment powers of the surface world tried to invite the nation into the U.N. but Atlantis had been observing the surface world for alogn tiem and had no interest in involving themselves in their affairs. three years late Atlantean warships rose from the depths of the sea on all fronts of the world and laid siege to the six continents. The atlanteans are highly advanced in technology and mysticism. They include the use of close combat and ranged combat in their military. They are very strong and powerful swimmers.

Elliot wakes up in his father's living room at 10:00 AM with a stiff neck. He slowly sits up on the aged green couch and shuffles himself off o fit and into the hall way where he walks down the stairs and strips down for a hot shower. after he finishes bathing he goes back up stairs and pours himself a bowl of fruity pebbles and starts to get his breakfast on. he turns on the tv and watches the news but the tv is all static. rumbling outside.

Elliot rushes to the window, his eyes widen, awe struck and horrified by what he sees occuring in the streets. Strange looking people in strange attire carrying strange weapons and devices. "Dude, I think we're being invaded" Elliot continues to stare as the strange people fire upon terrified pedestrians and pretty much anything else that moves, large weird looking vehicles took control of the roads and began blasting structures. "Will, we gotta get to the basement and then get the ******** out of here"

"NO KIDDING." Will said seriously, frightened, and bolts for the stairs, grabbing his jacket and shoes from the door and cuts down the steps two at a time.

RP Retrospective Review
Now, I hardly think an RP thread that failed to make it beyond a single page of posts merits a full critique. So instead, I will briefly postulate on why this RP died as swiftly as it did.
Firstly, the opening exposition. Holy hell. Why are we learning the backstory before the characters do? It doesn't mean anything to them yet and it's presented in the driest form imaginable. What's worse is that, if the RP had lasted long enough for the characters to learn this info in-universe, then the players would be bored as hell since they already know all this info. Bad way to start off.
Establishing the monotony of everyday life is, indeed, a good way to present normalcy before you break it with a major plot development. However, this is not something the GM should do for their own character before the other players get the chance. I hate to sound like a broken record, but the GM is there for the players, not vice versa. Your players aren't going to care that your PC had a shower and cereal. Put your players first, then put forth your own PC's actions if they inquire about them. Don't assume they care.
Lastly, Elliot sure did love the trope of a big scale army of disposable, irredeemable assholes, didn't he? Sure, it's a decent concept to fall back on for action sequences, but he used them so. Damn. Frequently. Rely on a trope too much and it becomes stale and predictable.
Wonder what could have been if Elliot had focused all his efforts on one single RP rather than all these little ideas. They were all so similar, anyway. Maybe we could have had something truly special if he'd planned out the story of a flagship RP rather than jump around so much.
Oh well. We were young. It happens.
