I seek my Edward to chase the bad thoughts away and awaken the sleeping heart that was forced to close upon the world. If you desire to be my Edward, seeking to challenge yourself in the literary field, then please pm me stating your insterest and an example of your literary skills. Once accepted we shall begin....my character commences as seen below....

Red curls bobbed atop her head as her mother picked her up and placed her in her lap. Curious misty-blue eyes gazed into her mother’s gray ones. The girl flashed her mother a smile from behind rudy lips and hugged her close. She loved her mother greatly, more so after her father’s death. He had been a composer and as such had instilled the same love of music in his daughter. Without him things weren’t the same, and it had been rough for them both. Sometimes her mother had cried herself to sleep and the child accompanied her, grieving for her lost father and the mother whose heart was in pain. Today was different though, her mother seemed happier, and she looked radiant. The child couldn’t help but wonder what miracle had returned the mother she so loved from long ago. Gone were the traces of depression from a lost love and in its stead her mother was able to shine as she did before.

The girl was pulled back from the hug and she looked at her mother questioningly. The woman smoothed the auburn curls, which were a deeper red than her own. “Nicole my sweet, there is something I must tell you. Something wonderful..” The child gazed up at her mom adoration evident in her expectant orbs. She wondered what this wonderful thing was. It had to be good if it caused her mother to change so. “Darling I have someone I want you to meet.” They both turned to look at the door that had been ajar, through it walked a man dressed in gentleman’s clothes. In confusion the child stared from her mother to the man and back again. “Mommy?”

“This is William darling and he will be joining us as part of the family.” Nicole looked at the man suspiciously. “We are going to get married Nicole he’s going to be your da.” The man removed his hat and extended his hand to the child. “Pleasure to meet you Nicole. You are a little beauty just like your mother. I know you miss your da and I wouldn’t try to take his place. I just hope we can become good friends and maybe you will find it in your heart to think of me as a da.” Nicole looked at him with uncertainty. She loved her father and no one could replace him, but this man made her mother happy and returned her to how she used to be. The older woman smiled at her daughter encouragingly and pushed her towards the man. The child accepted it all and locked away the sadness in her heart. Her mother was happy isn’t that all that mattered? She placed her miniature hand in his and nodded. “Welcome sir.”

Her mother married and Will moved them to his villa. All that Nicole had asked from this was to keep her fathers instruments and mementos. Her step dad had disliked this request but at prodding from her mother, he acquiesced. At the tender age of ten, Nicole did not know what fate had in store for her.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

She hated him. He was like the coins used for currency, two faced. William treated her mother so gallantly and did the same for her as well, but as soon as her mother disappeared he would demean her. Her mother was oblivious to it all, especially the surreptitious looks he gave her. Did she not notice the lusting look in his eyes? Nicole had grown up from the ten-year-old girl into a young woman. This was defined all the more by her eighteenth birthday, which had been last week. The event that should have been the most important moment of her life was marred by the sudden announcement of her betrothal to some duke. She refused to marry without love and she would not abide by Williams wishes. He plagued her every chance he got in his untoward and all too friendly manner. Many of the help had, to her relief, interrupted whenever he tried to lay his hands on her, allowing her the chance to escape. Thank goodness for her schooling, it was the only time when she felt safe, for they took place away from the villa. Nicole had followed in her father’s footsteps; sharing his love of music. She was especially good with a piano or flute. Like her father music had become her love and her escape.

Thrashing around in her room she began to stuff a traveling pack with necessities. Nicole was running away and starting a new life somewhere else. She was sure that her teacher would help her to find the means so that she could support herself. The staff was on holiday, her mother was off visiting a friend, and William had business to attend to. Hours before they had all argued about her future. She professed her desire to become a composer and they had disapproved. Her mother not so much but her step dad decided that she would do nothing but marry this duke. She hadn’t stayed to hear the name of her betrothed instead she stormed out of the room slamming the door behind her. It was then she had begun to devise a plan to escape her fate and had come to the conclusion that running away was her only option.

The soft click of the door opening and closing behind her woke her from her reverie. “Who is-,” her words stopped short as she beheld her step dad standing before the door, a strange expression on his face. The door clicked once more as it was locked. The sound reverberated in her head with the fear and suspicion that gripped her. Summoning her courage she spoke up, “Get out. You have no right to be here.” He didn’t seem to hear her and looked at the pack on her bed. “Were you thinking of going somewhere my dear? You know there’s an arrangement and till then you remain in my household.”

“I..I did not agree to any such arrangement. Now if you don’t mind I need to finish here.” She expected him to argue with her and then leave. She expected anything but what happened next; she never expected him to go so far. It was her fault she should have locked her door, she shouldn’t have turned from him, she shouldn’t have baited him with words.

William had moved from the door reaching out to sink his fingers in her auburn curls, holding her in a vice like grip, that cause her head to pound and she felt as if he were ripping the hair from its roots. She squirmed against him and begged to be let go. When he wouldn’t comply she resorted to screaming for help, knowing that none would come.
His voice was thick with lust and something else. She could feel the extent of his arousal as he held her pinned to him in that grip. At five feet and six inches she was no match for a man much taller than her and of stronger build.

“It doesn’t matter that you scream or that you struggle. No one will come to your aid.” Tears sprang forth from her eyes, both from fear and anger. He shoved her unto the bed tearing at her clothes. Her hands clawed at him and her shrill screams rose to the ceiling never to be heard by others. A backhand to her face brought the taste of blood and the darkening haze that ended her struggles. Stripping the bodice away as well as her undergarments, he gazed upon her nakedness. In a drunken like stupor she tried to cover herself. “Plea..se……stop.” Tearing a strip of material from her clothes, he used it to tie her hands to the bedpost. Nicole tried to wriggle away but he covered her form with his, forcing her legs apart. “You are so beautiful,” he said bringing his lips to meet her own. She took the chance and bit him trying to draw blood. His hand rose once more to slap her and this time the world spun with the strength of it. The shock she received from the pain as he took her precious innocence caused her to black out. She awoke moments later battered and bruised, filthy with the aftermath, and hating the man her mother had married. On that day she fled with what little she could carry and the items most important to her that had belonged to her father.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“It has been almost two years Nicole? Don’t you think you should at least visit your mother?”

Nicole now twenty years of age turned from her friend and once teacher. “You don’t undertand Danielle,” said the French accented voice. “I can never go back…. that life is over.” A shudder ran the coarse of her petite frame when the memories of that long ago day threatened to flood her. “Plus I have found a job that will do me good and take me away from here.” Her friend hugged her sympathetically and expressed how much she would miss her. “Just remember what I told you,” said Samantha, “Do not cut the forest down because of one tree.” She looked down sadly, it would take a special man to open her heart and drive away the images that dwelt hidden in her heart. After tearful farewell’s, Nicole made her way to the estate of the Duke of Westminster.

Leaving her old life behind, she ventured from France to England, where she had been hired on as a musical instructor to the lady of the house and any others who wished it. She was hired not only for the instruction of music, but also for the setting up of a sort of library and entertainment suite, dedicated solely to the interests of such pursuits. Looking at the lady of the house, she had to admit she was remarkable and liked her immediately. The lady was kind enough and talked to her in excitement over her purpose. Leading her to her quarters, the lady explained that she would introduce her to everyone before dinner. For now Nicole was free to unpack and explore the estates. Thanking the gracious lady she bid her farewell and set to the task of unpacking. The room was beautiful in its simplicity and she was grateful to have been hired on. Here she could live comfortably, and if she saved her wages wisely, would be able to purchase a studio where she could provide musical instruction. Nicole thanked her lucky stars and wondered what the future held in store.

Dark sea blue eyes peered about the property that was oh so common to them. The lad moved a bit, flipping the locks of hair from his face. He sighed a bit. They had a new guest; something he dreaded. It meant just one more person crowding the vast property; one more person to buy for; one more person to avoid at all costs. Everyone at the house knew his temper, and everyone avoided it. And today was no exception. With this new guest, everyone would be avoiding him until he was summoned down for dinner; in which most would ignore him, not daring to ask him much of anything. Only the Lady of the house ever dared to speak to him when he was in a foul mood.

He drew aimlessly in the sketch book he had been given as a child. The pictures were always of nature though, never having a focus; in which he cursed his work. He never found something to focus on, or put time into drawing. He usually drew birds of prey, fire, and anything he found interesting in the gardens in the back of the house.

The house itself was a picture. It was three stories of pure and strange history. He still wondered how the family that built it had gained so much land, in little ol’ England. He smiled a bit to himself. He was lucky, considering he was a rather negative person. The top floor was where his room, the head Mistress’s rooms were as well as a music and art studio. These rooms were larger, since there were only three, but they were the worst to have in the summers and winters. Spring and fall were the best times of year. He loved winter though, above all else. The third floor was probably the smallest floor of the house, since the place was rather huge.

The second floor is where the bathrooms were, as well as everyone else’s rooms. Jude was only ever on this floor to use the restroom and that was it, other than that he could either be found in his room, the kitchen, or outside; in which you rarely found him.

He growled a bit, staring at the window of the room. They were getting a new instructor.. Just great. And to add to Jude’s already sour demeanor, winter was approaching rapidly.

“Jude, dinner! Get in here out of the cold!” Called the Land Lady. He then climbed down from his perch in the tree, tucking his sketch pad and pencils into his coat. As he got inside the warmed house he pulled his scarf off as he headed up stairs towards his room. As he passed the new instructors room he glanced inside, catching sight of the red curls. He raised a brow. She wasn’t English, that’s for sure. He proceeded upstairs. Dinner would unfold where the girl was from, he was sure of it. He left his scarf and coat in his room, leaving his jeans and navy blue, long- sleeved shirt on.

He claimed his usual seat that the table. A few others sat around talking and waiting anxiously.

Nicole was quite happy to be here and couldn’t prevent herself from twirling in excitement, red curls bobbing around her head. It was her first day here and she couldn’t wait to meet all that resided in the manse. She placed her suitcases in a convenient spot to peruse and unpack later. Right now she needed to make her way to the dining room lest she make everyone think she was high maintenance for being late. A look in the mirror assured her that her image was appropriate to meet her employer and peers. Her attire was simple and neat enough so that she wouldn't have to change before exploring the manse. The dress she wore was conservative with three quarter sleeves, a high-necked collar, and a train that reached the floor to cover her softly slippered feet. It was supposed to make her cherubic appearance seem older and austere, something which unbeknownst to her, she failed at. Her hair was set in a French braid and she allowed the base of it to hang freely in the curls that were their natural tendency. Still wisps of it escaped the coiffure to surround her face.

This manse was full of rooms and full of wealth as well. Whoever the duke was he certainly had means. She imagined the duke to be an older man with grayed hair and a commanding demeanor. She was sure introductions to him would happen late or they would never occur. A person of his class must be busy indeed and something like an introduction to her would be the least of his worries, unless he were a student as well, but she highly doubted that. She stopped her ponderings once she reminded herself that the lady of the house would introduce her to whom she needed to know later.

Suddenly she was nervous and all sorts of questions popped into her head. She wished to make a good impression on all so that she would not be thought of as a nuisance or a negative aspect. Not only that, in order for her to teach and her students to learn they had to share some sort of liking with each other. Usually she had no problem with such things but it had been hard for her since that fated night long ago. Expressing herself emotionally was not something that came easy to her. Sure she could pretend and participate in the facade that governed all her relationships, except for one, the one with her dearest friend and former teacher, Danielle. Danielle had been there for her through the ordeal when she refused to eat or venture from the small flat they shared. She had been there to help her recover the ability to express herself and communicate with others. She was also the one who rekindled her love for music. Since then they had taught many of the classes together and Nicole had been able to interact normally with others.

Even so she knew that she needed to make something of herself and stop leaning on her friend. Danielle had never once complained of her as a burden and she knew that her friend loved her dearly, even so, the thought of remaining in a place full of bad memories would never allow her to move on, at least not completely. In this place she could start anew with no one knowing who she was or knowing her past. Nicole De Lancraix had moved on to bigger and better things in England. If all went well, she would be able to establish herself here and provide teachings for all. She entered the dining room a shy smile on her lips…hoping she would be welcomed.

((Sorry if they are too long...they will become shorter as we interact ^^))

Jude sat up a bit, looking at the new instructor with scrutinizing eyes. His hard, dark eyes looked her over; up and down, then down into her eyes, even when she didn’t make eye contact. He looked away sipping at some red wine. “The wine is from the oldest part of the cellar.. Why?” He asked roughly. His eyes flicked up to the landlady from under his hair. “Tell me Simone… Why the oldest wine? The only even is a new instructor, another human; since when have guests been a reason to take out the finest wine?” His voice was a little rough. He wasn’t complaining as if he was a brat but rather disturbed.

“Because we’ve been waiting so long for an instructor so we do have reason to celebrate! Don’t be such a grouch Jude. And don’t be rude- be kind. She’s new here and you haven’t a reason to be foul mouthed with her.” The land lady, Simone, said sternly but kindly towards Jude. “Be nice, she’s probably tired and doesn’t need you’re attitude.” Simone shook her head then looked at Nicole apologetically.
“You must excuse him; he doesn’t take well to strangers, or many people. Don’t take it personally. But don’t mind him, he doesn’t bite, only bark.” She smiled kindly earning a sneer from Jude. “You can ask him anything you like, otherwise he’ll probably be silent the whole meal.
She got up pulling a chair out for Nicole, “You see the old instructor he moved on, and we’ve been waiting for a couple years now. And we only ever drink wine if there’s something exciting or big happening.”

The guests all introduced themselves, asking her little questions just like, “What do you like to do for fun?” and “Who taught you how to play?” As well as “What can you play?”
Jude remained silent though, like he had been expected. Throughout the whole meal he made no voice only taking glass after glass of the wine. That was until he was excused. He barely ate any food; only enough so the plate at least looked touched. As he headed out of the room, Simone smiled, “Jude, be a dear and get everyone’s plates.” She requested it kindly. “Would anyone like desert?”

Jude turned to look at her, sighing as he took one plate at a time, his other hand carrying a glass or something from the table. As he reached for Nicole’s plate he glanced over her face and eyes momentarily before pulling her plate up and heading into the kitchen. He finished up, heading back out the door as Simone addressed him again, “Would you like desert Jude? There’s cake, and pie I’m sure.” Jude starred at her then the guests for a long while.
“I can have it delivered to your room.” She offered.
The young man scratched his dark hair, “Just a bite of cake.” He nodded heading out of the room. Simone nodded. “He has a very sweetened tooth.”

“Nicole.. Would you mind bringing some cake up to Jude’s room with me?” Simone asked kindly as she was heading into the kitchen to fetch everyone’s deserts.

Nicole was surprised from the welcome she received. There were so many people that made up the household. Some greeted her warmly and others were a bit more apprehensive in their greetings and perusal of her state. Most surprising were the remarks that flowed forth from the lips of the young man who sat at the table. He was talking to the landlady and Nicole could only assume that he was the lord of the manse. She looked down suddenly feeling out of place. Her coming here and being greeted in such a manner seemed to disturb the lord and she had to wonder if her time here would be short-lived. She certainly hoped this would not be the case. Trying to assuage the situation she moved forwards still looking at the floor watching her skirts swish with each movement. “I apologize if my presence here causes any inconvenience,” said the French accented voice, “It was not my intention to do so.”

The landlady would not hear it and instead greeted her warmly, after which she introduced the other individuals that occupied the room. These people also greeted her warmly and made her forget about her earlier in her time at the manse. So many questions were thrown her way and so Nicole made sure to answer them all lest she be rude. “I love to play music both for fun and to teach. It is my passion…. My father, a Frenchman, taught me how to play. He was an excellent musician in his time. I can play various instruments but my favorites would have to be the violin and the piano.” Dinner was spent like this talking with others and answering questions between bites of food. Every so often she would glance at the lord of the house noting that he barely touched the food. Could he really be in a foul mood because of her?

It wasn’t till dinner was complete that she truly got a good look at her sire. He had dark blue eyes in a shade to match the sea. Their eyes locked for a moment before he turned away. He had been asked by the landlady to recover all the dishes and in doing so also had to get hers. Her heart beat quickly and Nicole could only assume it was caused by her new surroundings and the fear that the lord would throw her out in the street if he did not feel she was needed. Lost in her reverie she almost missed when Simone asked her to carry some cake up to the lord’s room with her. It was not something she would have thought to do but Nicole wanted to please everyone and make amends with the lord. In this way he might like her a bit more and allow her to remain here.

Simone led the way allowing Nicole to carry the cake that belonged to the lord. What bothered her is the fact that there were two pieces of cake as well as two cups for tea. She believed that this was for Simone as well. Upon arriving at the lords suite Simone informed her of the reason for the extra setting. Apparently, she was to eat it as well while getting acquainted with the man from before. She tried to get out of it but Simone insisted. With a wave and a smile Simone left her carrying the tray causing Nicole to do nothing more than knock on the door to the suite. “Hello? Is anybody there?” she called out. Opening the door she found the man leaning over a stack of paperwork. Clearing her throat she made her way to his location. “Monsieur…I have brought dessert and tea…. we are to share this…and discuss my employment here...oui?” Her words trembled slightly. Nicole was not used to being alone with a man. Not since that fated night long ago. She truly hoped he would like her and allow her to stay.

((I love it ^_^---- Enjoy))

“You’re employment…” He murmured finishing up of what he had been writing. Leon looked up at her. His eyes weren’t as harsh as either, but a tad more curious. The blue orbs almost seemed to dive into hers, as if wanting to peer into her very soul if allowed. He looked away getting up as he set the tray on a different table; since the one he was ate was covered in all sorts of papers. “Why talk to me, Simone hired you, not me.” His English accent was strong but understandable. “She’s the landlady and she owns this place. I have no control over your employment.” He left it at that as he signaled to a chair for her to sit if she liked.

“Don’t be so nervous.. you act as if you killed someone..” He muttered. He stared out the window for a long time, holding the tea glass. “Simone sent you up here so that I’d apologize for being brash… You’re not going to get such from me.” He growled. “Simon needs to learn that…” He said more to himself than to Nicole. He sipped at his tea, sitting down.
“Nicole, right?” He questioned. “Leon Amore. If you have anything to say then say it other wise go, this is my private room and only Simone is allowed here. Even I bade her from-”

A knocking at the door cut Leon off, “What?!” He barked. Simone walked in, “Don’t be course with me. You know I can kick you out just as fast.” She said calmly. “I just came up to make sure you hadn’t scared the girl into leaving. I’m leaving her stay here up to you. After all once I die this house does go to you, am I right Leon?”

Leon looked up at the woman in awe. “Why?”

“You were my first guest here. And considering what lead you here I feel comfortable with you taking the place if I ever leave or die.” Simone explained. “I have to leave for a couple months here soon and I want you to hold that foul tongue of yours and see if you can hold your own here.”

Leon nodded, “I’m getting wine..” He muttered and left. “I’ll be right back..” He swung the door shut, though it didn’t close all the way.

Simone looked at Nicole. “I’m sorry about the timing… But urgent news came up, I hope you don’t mind if I leave.. I mean you can come with me if you’re not comfortable here with everyone.” She smiled. “Don’t be scared by Leon, just shrug him off. If you ever get him to smile consider yourself lucky. If you have any questions I’ll be in the library.” She smiled getting up and leaving as Leon entered with a bottle of wine; no glasses.

“Are you staying or leaving?” He asked Nicole as Simone made her exit. Though the landlady made it clear as she left the two upstairs, shutting the door behind herself.

Leon’s room was as large as three rooms though it was all one room divided by two walls with a large opened where French doors could go. Each room was a different color, the bed room a deep red, the next room being a breezy white, and the room after being all sorts of blues.
His bedroom had a more alluring feel. The deep reds and dark wood all seemed to have the right appeal. The light in the room was dim, and everything was Victorian themed. The bed had a head and foot board with four large, decretive poles (on each corner) and a canopy. In one way is was sexy, and yet in another way it suited the blue-eyed p***k named Leon. This was the only part of his room, which was sealed off through a thick, red theater curtain.
The white room was more open, and where the door to his room was. All the wood, was yet again dark but in a good contrast. It was an airy room, meant for relaxing. And the blue room was an art studio. Simply put.

What could she say? It seemed that her plan of making amends backfired. She hadn’t expected him to react like so. A true gentleman would have treated her more gently and not spoken to her as rudely as this person did. It made her resent the male species all the more. They thought that they could do as they please and bring anyone to understand their point of view. Nicole couldn’t ….no…she wouldn’t allow this man to turn her away from the new life she had set out to live. Be still, she told herself gathering her energies so the fear and nervousness from before would be covered behind a calm demeanor.

She watched as Simone and Leon exchanged words. It was a miracle Simone could even deal with him and she couldn’t help but roll her eyes in distaste. Just why did he act like a pompous jerk? She was sure he could be a little nicer. This is why she was thankful for Simone. The woman had been nothing but wonderful since her arrival here. She was especially grateful for the defense she put up in her regards. Otherwise Nicole might have fled the manse at the first sign of discord. She could not bear such behavior…especially from a man. She looked up and smiled as Simone addressed her. “I will be sad to see you go as you have been wonderful with me. I will do my best to make you proud of the musical instructor you have employed.” Rising from her chair, Nicole swept a curtsy in Simone’s direction. “As for Leon smiling…I don’t think its something I can accomplish” she said matter of factly in the soft French accent.

Her eyes moved towards the young man expecting to see a scowl on his face. After all that is all he seemed to be doing when she was concerned. “I will be staying good sir to offer the services for which I was employed.” A dainty hand lay against the top of the chair she had occupied and her eyes wandered the length of the room taking in its décor. Her employer Leon at least had good taste when it came to his furnishing and he seemed to be an educated man, regardless of the demeanor he presented. She wanted to assure herself somehow and not feel inferior before this man. “Do not worry. I am more than capable of making my way around and performing my duties. If you want we do not even have to interact…I can send another to speak in my stead.” Her green orbs never once strayed from his face…and although one would think the words were full of animosity they left her lips in soft musical tones.

((sorry it took so long))

"I'm not your damned employer.. Listen, you wanna strike a good nerve with me? Leave me alone. Its that simple. I dont like people. So don't think my being a b*****d to you is your fault. I just dont like people; whatsoever. Ask Simone about it." He shrugged, taking a drink from the bottle of wine. He was edgey, aggrevated; even nervous. He found himself sitting down at the table, opposite her, his elbows on his knees, the bottle in his hands. His disheveled hair was hanging in his face, his deep blue eyes burning with some inner turmoil.

"I'm not a sociallite." He bit into the cake she had brought; actually having table manners for being such a brute. As he ate, his face softened a bit. This was a moody man. A very strange, man. His eyes were soft, almost child like as he ate the bits of cake, icing last. He was silent and thoughtfilled. He finished eating slowly, looking at her.
"I must be blunt with you... While Simone is here, you're safe form the towns men. Most of them are drunkards, I warn you now. Dont go into town alone. Hell bug me if you have to. But while Simone is out of town, DO NOT leave this house. I will admit you're a very beautiful girl, and I'd hate to see you get hurt by those morons.." He shook his head. "The other guests here avoid me.. so if you do the same I wouldn't notice."

"Thats the only thing I have to say to you.." He shrugged. "You remind me of mom, the shape of your face, and how you hold yourself. Theres a sense of pride in the way you walk and look.. when you're not nervous."
