White and black paws danced on the soft ground, it had just got done raining and Ralphina, also known as Rally, had moved out of the den she had found on the outskirts of Akiiki Chibale's territory. She no longer considered herself part of Agua Azul, actually she cursed the pack for taking her puphood. At least she was near to Shelby, her sister, again.

Taking off like a shot out of a gun, the streak of orange, black and small amounts of white whizzed through the trees. Rally, even for an adult, had tons of hyperactive energy, and a better mood and out look on life since getting out from under the Witch of Agua Azul and her brain-washed brother's leadership.

She turned along side the creek's side and zipped down across the rocks, this was her morning routine pretty much. Burn extra energy so she could be calm for a hunt, well really ambush.

Jumping from the rocks, she skirted across some loose leaves and turned to her left, instead of her right. She just wanted to run a little longer on this fresh morning.

Bursting between two bushes, Rally's tongue was just now starting to lolly out of her mouth, this was incredible. Then suddenly her back left leg struck something and her forward momentum yanked an anchored rock.

Adrenline slowed down in the moment her mind registered that her leg was clamped into the jaws of something metalic, and then the pain shot through her leg, she yelped. All this took just seconds to happen and then limping back she began to gnaw on the steel jaws, to no prevail. She felt the blood trickling down her leg and the pain was killing her, adreniline began to pump again and she howled for help.

Her hope was Shelby would hear her and bring the pack to help out, and soon.

Cyclops was alone when he heard the howl. Alone… always alone, alone and trapped in a sightless world, but he’d been sightless nearly his whole life. It was amazing, the way the other senses compensated to make up for the loss of one, especially when those senses were already keen. Temperature, wind pressure, even the texture of the loam beneath his feet all came together to ensure that Cyke didn’t run into trees—at least, not as much as one would think.

His nose told him he was on the edges of pack territory, even as he ran confidently toward the howl. His mind processed that information and filed it away in case it was of some use. He was unique in that way; in times of crisis, everything slowed down for him, became more clear. He observed and analyzed and acted immediately upon his conclusions.

He cleared a small knoll and came upon the other wolf, his nose providing him with more information—a female, a young adult, with blood on her, but not enough to signify impending demise.

“What is it?” he asked, of course not bothering with introductions. His senses weren’t telling him what he needed to know, and he did not think it necessary to perform an inspection on a female who was right there and able to communicate. He realized that he was probably not who she expected to answer her call; this close to a packland, she must know someone nearby. Still, he was available. “Where are you hurt?”

Rally had stopped trying to pry the metal trap off of her leg and decided to wait, impatiently for her sister to come. It would take them some time to get here, even if they had heard her first, accidental howl. Now the golden orbs just looked at the filthy two-legger trap.

"Not like there isn't enough..." she had started to mutter when a blue and yellow wolf with what looked like a red mask on, not the type like her families but still a mask, over his closed eyes came into sight.

She stood more erect, as much as one could with a sore and trapped limb. Not until after she let out a huff, Rally looked at the male and then felt a small muscle spasm in her leg, which allowed the trap to sink its fangs deeper into her leg.

"THE BACK LEG" she yelped, "There's a two-legger trap that bite into it and won't let go." The orange and black femme howled hopping back on her three free limbs. She really liked her legs, and Rally didn't want to loose one to the owner of these metal fangs.

"Please, help me," Ralphina whimpered, thinking that the longer the trap was latched upon her, the higher the possibility it would snap the bone. Besides she didn't realize that the trap was also keeping her from bleeding out.

Analyze, analyze… Cyke stepped forward and touched his nose to Rally’s, not only to reassure her but to assure himself of her location. Using that as a guide point, his nose found its way to her hind leg. What he knew of the two-leggers, he knew from observation. The best time to steal a kill from a trap was before dawn, when the traps were full and the hunters not yet out. Humans checked their lines about once a day, and usually in the morning, after prey animals had been active at night. The sun was already full in the sky. The human would not be by to let the wolf out of the trap… and he might just shoot the girl, instead.

He ran his tongue over the wound, half in sympathy, half in investigation. How did a human open a trap? Not by strength, not if it was meant to hold a bear. There must be some… some human mechanism behind it all. Analyze. The trap closed by pressure. A bear—or wolf—came along and stepped on a trigger, causing the jaws to close through pressure. Then there must be a way to release the pressure to separate the jaws.

“Tell me,” he started to say, wanting to keep her talking so she didn’t panic. “Is there a… trigger? A lever, on the trap? Can you see?” He didn’t want to get his nose embroiled in the mechanism, lest he too became trapped. “Or, do you know what it’s attached to?” he added. If they couldn’t get it off… if… they would have to dig out the chain. That way, at least, she could find somewhere to rest, and more wolves to help with the procedure of removing the trap. Or her leg. Let’s not mention that, Cyke thought to himself.

A small flash of heat raced through her form, who would have thought such a reaction would be caused in a moment of crisis, especially one dealing with her leg. A leg that she liked very, very much.

"Umm..." she murmured, golden eyes following the male as he moved towards the trap, her first thought, once her mind was able to form a small one again, was that the male was going to get his nose caught in the trap also.

That was when he licked her wound and Rally's mind scrambled again, Geez, you'd think getting your leg caught in a trap was a bad thing. Alright it's a really bad thing. She thought eyes watching even as she was trying to stand in a position safe for her trapped leg.

Oi, Shelby is gonna die when she hears this, she was starting to think again until the male spoke again. Attention sharpening, just like her leg depened upon it.

"Trigger? A trigger," she yammered in that face pace hyper manner she had spoken in since being a pup. Eyes moved from the male and swept over the trap, why hadn't she thought to look earlier? She could feel the plate that had made the jaws close, then there she spied a pressure pad on the outside of the jaw.

"Thankyouspirits," Ralphina almost leapt up for joy, but was able to keep herself from doing so.

"There is one, umm..." what was it positioned at, "it's on the left, near the chain connected to the ground." Rally calmed her voice so not to confuse the male.

Cyke nodded his understanding, his brow furrowed in concentration as he followed the line of the metal to the left, using his nose. He could feel the lever jiggle a little as he pressed it with his nose. Pulling his head back, he pressed on the lever with a forepaw, but it didn’t move. No alarm; he pulled back to think. There were two jaws; why shouldn’t there be two triggers? “Move quickly, when you feel it give,” he warned; he did not know how long he would be able to keep the jaws apart, and if they snapped back together before she had removed her foot, they would bite even deeper. Moving carefully, he positioned one paw on either side of the trap, finding two levers positioned across from each other. He pressed down with his full strength, finding it even harder than he’d thought; though the trap fortunately didn’t smell of rust, it still must be very stiff. He wondered if the humans had some kind of tool they used.

“Move!” he said again, from between gritted teeth, just in case she hadn’t felt the trap give. The muscles in his forelegs were already cramping.

Golden eyes followed the male search the metal jaws out, when he pressed on the lever, her heart fluttered. The jaws didn't move out or into her leg, one she was happy about the other, not so much.

There was a moments pause and then the male warned her and a part of her just wanted to say, No, I thought when the jaws open I'ld just stand here. But she didn't voice her attitude and only gave the word.

"Alright," ready to spring from the sprung trap of metal jaws. The jaws pulled back and a sicking sucking noise echoed with it as the teeth withdrew from her flesh and muscle. The moment the last inch of the teeth were out of her leg, now bleeding freely, she hopped out of the trap with all the agility built up from standing still for so long.

In the moment she leapt forward, the blue male gritted out the word move.

"I'm out!" she exclaimed standing with her back leg pulled up away from the ground. There was a moments pause and she limped towards the blue male, giving him a thankful nudge from her snout, something she did with her sister constantly, "Thank you," Rally said in a soft and calm tone.

He could feel it when her leg pulled away from the trap, a feeling that repelled and concerned him. The jaws had obviously bitten deep; she would need to go back to that pack she came from, where she could be protected and nursed.

Back to her pack. Packs, things that Cyclops was no longer a part of. He was an outcast by his own desire and never felt comfortable in a family setting around a common group of wolves. He would willingly run with any pack to fight for their cause, but the mundanities of normal life made him slow and awkward; relaxation was not something he did.

He could hear the joy in the female’s voice when she sprang free, and was surprised at her touch. Shuffling a bit awkwardly, he shifted his weight from side to side, his front legs tickling as they oxidized again. “It... wasn’t anything, really,” he answered. And it wasn’t. Acting on his impulses was just what Cyke did; he had an overwhelming need to fix the universe and save anyone in it, to make up for not saving what was most precious to him.

Watching the male shuffle ackwardly, she was thrown a bit puzzled, forgettign that not everyone was like her sister and her, spontaneous and out there with the world, even if Shelby was part of Crunch's pack, Shelby was still fun and free to roam around, unlike that stuffy old pack ran by the witch and their brain washed brother.

Her tail swayed as the blue male gave a very mundane answer, well mundane to her, Rally gave a soft giggle. "No, it was something, I don't know how long, if at all someone would have came along and if that someone would've been as nice as you or part of my sister's pack." she knew of wolves out their that preyed on the weaker ones and even killed their own kind for sport.

She reached back and licked her leg, she needed to get to Alas, hopefully the healer would lecture and bandage her up, or if she was really desprate she would search out her shaman brother.

Turning her head back around Rally recalled one very important thing, "I'm Rally by the way, what can I call you?" she asked in her normal fashion, not having really changed much since her puppy-days.

“Well...” Cyclops shrugged. “I’m sure if you’re pack is nearby they would have heard you. I heard you, and I was kind of far away, although, um, I hear better than other wolves.” He didn’t mean to brag. He did have better senses than other wolves; he just couldn’t see.

“My name is Cyclops,” he answered, a little confused by her blunt fashion. Sure, he had just saved her, but she was very open, compared to a lot of wolves he had met in his wanderings. Then again, pack wolves tended to be more friendly, since they didn’t risk being taken advantage of by others so much. “You can call me Cyke, though. Everybody does.” Well, everybody did. It would be nice to hear his nickname said by another again.

“Is this your sister’s packlands, then?” he asked. “Do you not belong to her pack?” If she didn’t belong to her family’s pack, it’s possible she had found a mate elsewhere. If she was still friendly with her family, it seemed unlikely that she’d merely had a difference in opinion.

Listening to the male talk she couldn't help but shrug, after all there were newborns in the pack, the alpha had had pups in Akiiki Chibale, but there had to have been someone hopefully near the outter rim of the pack. Her nose twitched and she was calculating how far away she had ran from the pack, and winced, only someone of the border rim nearest to the no-wolves land would have heard.

"I'm further from the pack then I would have thought," she muttered and then looked down at the trap, obviously, cause she had never ran into one of those before.

Then the male's voice as he gave her his name was just a bit of a snap back into the current second. Her golden orbs looked up at the male's face, and she gave an absentminded smile, "Well thank you again, Cyke..."

Rally shook her head from side to side, "No this is no one's land, thankfully." She loved how Akiiki Chibale was kind to Shelby, how they all treated her like she belonged there since birth and how no one was a pawn in their paws. The pack was strong in it's ties, but not in numbers and something told her the alpha's like it that way, at least for now.

Again Rally was shaking her head at Cyke's question, "No, I don't belong in the same pack as my sister does, the alpha female has extended countless inventations, but I told them I'd rather just be close to Shelby. My brothers have their own pack and good rediance to them with it," she growled, obviously she didn't care who she spoke to, but her obvious tie was with her sister.

Cyclops shook his head, confused. He was a great believer in pack and family, and had never even considered that siblings might split up. Sure, he didn't belong to a pack now, but he didn't believe he could. He was a risk; he was depressed; he would be unable to pull his weight. He didn't want to try to form emotional ties, which were necessary to survive in a family setting.

Still… every wolf should feel welcome somewhere. It was good that Rally had a sister that she cared for. "Wolves need other wolves," he said simply. "As much as they need air, or prey. See? Even I'm needed sometimes." He grinned a crooked grin that didn't quite fill his face.

It vanished quickly. "If you're so far from the pack, you should move out quickly," he said. "You won't be able to run, just yet, and you'll need the pack to help you with your leg." He shrugged. "I could… I mean, you're perfectly capable of taking care of yourself, when you're not stuck in a trap, but if you want someone to come with you… I'll take you to your sister."

Rally looked up at Cyke, her eyes, resembled more of the mother that this male didn't know, there was a darkness in them, but that image quickly changed with her optimistic energy. His words were what she listened to and her head turned to the trees.

"That is sooooo true," Rally bobbed her head, though only slightly wary of not throwing herself off balance. Though the crooked grin made her head tilt to the side, having had a mother with depression the sound was a familiar ring in her ears. "Of course you're needed Cyke, just like you said wolves need other wolves. Life gets boring without a wingman," Shelby was Ralphina's Wingman, or that was how she always had looked at her sister.

Though the vanishing smile was more then enough to make her eyes get that wary look again, part of her was glad that this male couldn't see the look, and she kept her upbeat demeanor about her. Even with the prospect of not running, her energy would build up and she would probably twitch when seeing help from Alas.

Tail wagging behind her, she limped to where she was along side the blue male, orange and black masked face looking towards the direction of her 'home'. His babbling or uneasiness made her quick chime in, "Cyke would you mind helping me get back to my sister, there are a couple streams that I have to cross before getting back to atleast the outer rim of the pack." Besides, she didn't want to mention that the blood lost might caught up to her once her adrenline kicked out.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 03, 2008 10:07 pm

"I would be honored to help you home," he replied simply. The grin had faded from his face, leaving his expression once again painfully blank. He wasn't one to express emotion easily, especially physically. Tone of voice was often the only way to decode his mental state.

Stepping up beside Rally, he bumped her side with his nose; a wingman at the wings. Her body, like any wolf's, gave off a tremendous amount of heat that he could feel in the air. Through his touch, he could sense tensed muscles, quivering with a desire to move; or could that be quivering with exhaustion? The sun was growing overhead; heatstroke and blood loss were not a fun combination. "You'll need to show me where to go," he cautioned. "I can usually navigate fine on my own, but just finding you without giving myself a concussion was pretty lucky." It was perhaps not as impressive as he made it out to be; he actually rarely ran into anything anymore. Still, the adrenaline had worn off, and he was out of his hypersensitive zone. "Now, I don't even know what I'm heading for."

He had no illusions that he would probably end up helping her more than she could help him, but he hated to portray himself as some sort of knight-in-shining-armor. They would make this trek together.

Honored? Who really talked like that? ...Well beside Cyke as she just answered herself. Rally would have snickered at the words, if she wasn't afraid that the male would walk off and leave her to limp back to Crunch's territory.

Rally hobbled forward a step when the blue male stepped up along side of her. The golden eyes looked back at his words, "Icandothat," the words were spoken in a manner that they were sewn together in her hasty speech.

Clicking her tongue the orange femme swallowed and then respoke the words, slower, "I can do that, not a problem." Rally bounced her head up and down, then hobbling forward again though she stumbled with a misstep in the quick start. A whimper tore from her maw with the need to stablize using her injured paw.
