Ijn's bright green eyes almost seemed to glow in the slowly fading light. Her breath came out in short gasps as she raced down the forest path dodging outstretched branches and jumping over fallen logs. She had always been told not to be out after dark and while the sun had only just began to set she couldn't seem to figure out where she was running to.
As the trees around her began to grow further apart a smile fell on her face. She slowed down assuming that she was coming up on the clearing where her home was. The cheerful look vanished as she realized the clearing she had found was much larger then anything she had ever seen.
"Oh no..." She whimpered taking a look over her shoulder back into the woods. Why had her parents decided to live in a place that was so very hard to find?

Limbs stretched as two bodies rose from where they had lain grass still flat where it had been crushed. Twin bodies shook themselves and nostrils flared to take in the scents of the approaching night. Black eyes scanned the ever approaching darkness, watching the shadows ever lengthen and twist, contorting to hide what was commonly insight. Ah the night life, it was all abuzz around the black and white brothers as they stepped out from beneath the drooping branches they considered home.
"That do you think brother? Time to feast?" asked the brother who's coat was as white as new fallen snow. Gracing his flank a black rose with a thorned stem.
"Oh please, just enjoy the night air for once and we can feast later." Muttered the other whom was as black as ebony with a matching mark on his flank though this one was white.
"You know brother, you never seem to be too much fun anymore, you know that right?" the white brother asked looking at the black brother.
The black stallion only muttered something incoherently as he strode even further away from they tree. This tree was located at the far end of the cleaning that a young filly had found herself at the edge of. The white brother snorted at the other before following at a slower pace. Dark eyes glowering before he charged past heading head long toward where the foal might have been.
"Come brother, lets enjoy that night air." Nikolas gave a fanged grin back toward his brother whom stood a little shocked before shaking his head.
"Nikolas, you are so dead!" Kristopher shouted as he headed after his brother.
Both wove and darted from side to side, looking much like a shadow chasing the light. One minute Nikolas was out front before Kristopher passed him. It was much a push me pull you battle before both came to skidding halts as the scent of another was caught upon a breeze. Something... Young, this brought smiles to their faces as their dark eyes scanned the clearing once more, looking for whatever it was that they might have missed upon the first look...

Pale nostrils flared as the young filly took in a deep breath in attempt to calm herself. She couldn't go back now. It was getting dark and things came out once the light had vanished. Nervously she took a few steps further into the clearing to get a better look at what was around her and to hopefully find a safe place to hide until the morning's sun.
She hadn't taken more then three steps before she froze. She could hear voices. She took a step backwards clearly making out the word 'dead'. Before she could make a move something peculiar caught her eye. A flash of white darted out followed closely by a black blur.
She squeaked and quickly dropped to the ground trying to hide in the grass. Were these some of the vicious beings that she had been warned about so many times? It was times like these she wished her coat was dark like her sisters and not light creams and bright pinks.

The brothers both turned their black eyes toward the sudden drop of something small, and colorful. Looking toward each other they took to different directions, keeping themselves to the shadows, more ot less until they pretty much circled the tiny filly like wolves even if they clearly weren't in the day light. Nikolas lowered his head down to pretty much a predatory level as he circled back and forth. Kristopher on the other hand remained upright, watching his brother mainly before looking back toward the foal.
"Now what do we have here?" Kristopher asked quite openly as he moved closer to the foal. "What do you think dear brother?"
"I think we might have ourselves a little spy perhaps?" Nikolas muttered as he came up upon the other side of where the filly was hiding.
Standing, watched each other, upon opposite sides of the filly's hiding place having yet to really look 'down'. They merely watched each other then looked around as of they had missed something. At one point they acted as if they were going to walk away, though merely circled close around her, coming to a stop where the other had once been. What was it that they were looking for?

The little filly quivered like a leaf as she watched the two from her spot in the grass. The way the white one moved was like that of something cruel and evil that she had only heard stories about. Her ears pressed back against her skull and dislodged the pink ribbon her mother had given her. She looked at the piece of fabric as it fluttered to the ground and followed after it lowering her head as far as she could. She didn't want to see them anymore, they were frightening, and she certainly didn't want them seeing her. She didn't want them too sneak up on her either so she lifted her ears again to listen to what happened around her.
She could hear them moving closer, asking questions about what she was. What was a spy? She didn't know but it sounded like it could be another word for a meal. When it seemed they had stopped moving she lifted her head slightly to get a look around.
She wished she hadn't as she could see them right next to her. She nearly screamed but it appeared as though they had not found her hiding spot yet. Taking in a shaky breath she lowered her head slowly praying that they wouldn't find her or that someone would find her before things got any worse.
The thought of the worst possible outcome only caused her to shake more. Fresh tears started to bubble out of her eyes silently as she tried to still herself. If she didn't they were sure to notice her.

Black eyes soon turned downwards toward where the filly was laying between them. Ears twitched atop their head before looking back at each other. A grin came to the white stallion, baring slightly elongated 'fang' like teeth that had once been hidden by his lip. Though the black stallion gave the other a sort of glare before lowering his head down toward the filly. First catching a glimpse of the hair tie that had fallen from her hair back to her. She was cute, but not as cute without it.
"You dropped something, you know that right?" he asked looking toward the bow. "Don't think your mum would like you leaving it behind when you return, right?"
His head tilted some to the side as his brother rolled his eyes with a huff of a laugh. True the boys didn't have parents and acted as brothers to another filly, one whom bore wings on her back. This one was like them, bound to the earth like trees, though still able to move around of course, just didn't have any wings and that sort of thing. Maybe he could help her put it back? Maybe not, he had to worry that maybe he would accidentally rip it or something.
"Brother, please, just one little nibble?" Nikolas teased knowing well that his brother liked caring for the young ones.
"Nikolas, that is enough. These aren't the old days." Kristopher snapped at his brother whom acted surprised though only laughed in return.
"But the old days were fun, look how much you have changed, no thrill for the hunt, nor the want to make ones like that yours." Nikolas went on, turning in a sort of circle as he went. "Where's the Kristopher I remember?"
"Gone." Kristopher snorted looking away from his brother, knowing full well of what was going through his mind. "The old days are just dust blowing in the wind, and those that were bound to us are now free. So quite complaining."
Oiy, what pieces of work they were. Always fighting about things, though they loved and protected each other, they didn't really like each other to a point. Ah, love hate relationships between siblings. It might have been enough to scare anyone and anything ad unnerve those that listed closely. Then again, it might just bore the hell out of anyone as well...

Her entire body went rigid as the black one spoke to her. It seemed they had known she was there the entire time. She lifted her head slowly to look at the two unsure of how to react. She nodded her head slowly looking at the one that had spoken to her. She didn't speak but picked the ribbon up off the ground and simply held it in her mouth. She couldn't place it by herself. She promptly dropped it again as the white one spoke and she went wide eyed and began to tremble once again.
They were going to eat her after all! As the black one spoke again she began to get the feeling that she was not in as much danger as her worried mind led her to believe. She watched the two from her place in the grass quietly to pick up on any important details. It seemed that the black one was known as 'Kristopher' and the white one was 'Nikolas' and from what she understood the two used to hunt others. That was what caused the tears to reform in her eyes.
"Ah...umm..."She said softly not really wanting to upset them by interrupting. "P-please...don't eat me..." She kept her gaze on the two almost afraid that if she didn't they would attack her.

Kristopher looked at his brother with a scowl before he lowered his head to nudge the foal gently. He always had a soft spot for the young ones, though it was something he wouldn't ever get over it seemed. Nikolas on the other hand liked, or used to like the taste of the blood of younger flesh, though it did seem that those day were gone. For that real longing was ebbing away like the tides.
"Nikolas! Now look what you've done!" Kristopher snapped in a scolding tone. "You've scared her even more."
"Pfft, you call that scared? Please. That is just cowering, remember when people 'really' were scared of us? Nikolas and Kristopher. We were the worse of our kind. This foal doesn't know the meaning of the word scared."
Kristopher glared at his brother whom rolled his eyes turning away to mull over what to do now. It seemed that Nikolas preferred the old ways against the new ways. He wasn't one for adapting to new ways too easily, the last time he tried he had killed someone and that still laid heavily upon his heart and mind. He didn't want to kill again.
"So little one, what's your name?" Kristopher asked turning away from his hotheaded brother letting him cool off some. "I'm Kristopher, though Kris for short. The hot head over there..." Is cut off.
"I heard that!"
"Is Nikolas, Nik for short if you like. Nikolas was only kidding about taking a nibble, we don't eat other creatures... Not anymore at least..." Looks away a little...

She jumped slightly at the touch, though one could hardly call it jumping as she never left the ground. She looked at the one called Kristopher nervously because of the tone in his voice. She knew it was not directed at her, after all her name was not Nikolas, but the sharp sound did not sit well with her. The white one's words sat even worse. If she wasn't scared now she didn't want to know what 'scared' really was. Too much more of this and she imagined she wouldn't be able to do much more then cry.
"Uhmm...my name is...I-ijn..." She answered quietly not sure if she should be sharing her name with strangers. It was true she had done it before but then it had been very obvious that she was not in danger. With these two she was not so sure. Kristopher seemed nice enough but Nikolas appeared that he was likely to kill her if she were left alone with him.
The thought of dying made her shiver and without prompting she plucked her ribbon from the ground and proceeded to stand. Without so much as a word she moved closer to the black stallion keeping a watchful eye on the white one.

Kristopher watched his brother as he glowered from a distance, pacing every now and again. Though if one had the sight, they would see steam rolling off him like a thick black aura, though no such thing existed here. They were mere shadows of their former selves, reborn into bodies where they would take a while to adapt to. Nikolas was taking the longest to accept that he wasn't as he used to be.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Ijn." Kris nodded looking back at the foal who stood and moved closer to him. "Don't worry he'll settle."
Nikolas snorted again before moving back over toward the pair. His expression had softened slightly as the knowing that maybe something would come out of this. Though his black eyes remained upon the foal whom stood close to his brother. Maybe she could be the start of a new breed of fledglings? Maybe not the kind that he was used to, but maybe something along them lines.
"So what do you think brother? Think she would make a good fledgling? Or should we just escort her back to her family whom I'm sure would be missing the young dear?" Nikolas asked not looking away from Ijn.
"Nikolas, not now, I doubt she would even understand such a thing. And I'm quite sure her parents would raise hell to track us down if something was wrong with her." Kristopher shook his head. "Escorting her home would be the best thing, and remaining unseen by their eyes even better." He nodded at this much. At least something sensible came from his brother's tongue.

She bowed her head with a polite smile. "It is a pleasure for me as well...sir." She responded quietly minding the manners her father had taught her. Her voice showed no signs of the fear that was still present in her eyes. It was easy to sound brave with a response that was programmed into your mind.
As the other approached she took a step back not trusting him much at all. While he did not look as threatening now as he did before something did not feel right. And what was a fledgling? Wasn't it a baby bird? How could she possibly make a good baby bird? She had no wings and was not small enough to fit in a tree or nest.
The mention of her parents and family caught her attention. Did they know her family? It did not sound like it but something was bothering her. "No..."She shook her head an unreadable look on her face. "My...my father would search for me...but not much else..." Her voice was sad which only made sense. It was nice to think of your father as some unstoppable force but her father had always been passive aggressive. He wasn't the type of person to 'raise hell' over her.
Then there was one other thing still plaguing her mind that she was not sure she should ask. She looked from one stallion to the other trying to make up her mind and decided to wait. She would either ask what they meant by fledgling later or ask her father when she returned home as that seemed to be where they planned to take her.

Nikolas gave his brother a fangy smile at the thought of making this one of their own in a sense, though Kristopher glared at him. Almost tempting his brother to try something. Eyes narrowing, Nikolas rolled his eyes pulling a frown from the smile he had once worn. He never seemed to get much fun anymore these days.
"I'm sure that your parents would search endlessly for you." Kristopher nodded. "I know my parents would have..."
At this Kristopher glanced back at his brother whom was chewing on a blade of grass that stuck a bit out of his mouth. Farmer style of course, though they were far from that old tradition... Nikolas merely watched the two before spitting out the grass and stomping slightly.
"If we're going to that the squirt back, we might as well do it now." He huffed looking toward Ijn. "Do you even know where you live?"
His voice a bit rash, his black eyes watching her like cold black stones. Where Kristopher's had a bit of warmth to them. Nikolas just wanted to get it over with if they weren't going to make her their own. At times he wished the old Kristopher would come back to him and they would be the worst of their kind once more. He hated only being a shadow of his once fine glory years.

Ijn was not so sure. Her father was one that would often give up hope long before anyone else would. It was a trait that had been passed down to the young filly though not in as much of an extreme. She followed the black stallions gaze to look at Nikolas.
A rather confused look set on her face when she saw what he was doing. He was simply chewing on a piece of grass, not eating it, just chewing on it. It did not seem right to her, not right at all. She didn't get much time to try and figure out what he was doing as she was being spoken to once again.
"I...I...uhh..."She looked from one to the other clearly nervous about something. "I...in a way...I do..." She said quietly getting the distinct feeling she was about to be knee deep in trouble. When she got close to her home's location she could find it easily, but she had no idea where she currently was and had no idea where her home was in relation to this place.
In an attempt to get away from his rather frightening eyes she stepped even closer to Kristopher so that she was pressed directly up against his side.

The brothers looked at each other before Kris looked back toward Ijn, a pale brow raised itself as he felt her press against him as if he were something to cling to. Lowering his head he nuzzled against the young filly, trying to comfort her, wondering why she acted in such a way not like they were going to hurt her. Though he wasn't sure if Nikolas wouldn't have if he wasn't around. The white stallion had ways of harming anyone while on his own in some way or another.
"Perhaps we can start by going back the way you came originally?" Kristopher asked not raising his head from where it hung. "Then we can sort out where you might live? Perhaps if we get close to where you were earlier, Your father might be looking for you?"
"Kris, you know that we really shouldn't be sighted by others.." Nikolas eyed his brother, though only got a glare in reply. "You know not many like us."
"That is not of my concern you couldn't behave." Kristopher retorted dryly. "If you hadn't been reckless you wouldn't have this problem." Turns his attention back to the filly, "Now young miss, lets see if we can't find your home so that you won't get into trouble."
Kris shook his head before looking back at the foal, knowing full well that his momentary arguments about the past would confuse her. Turning, also nudging Ijn as he did, he aimed to walked out the way she had come in. Maybe the night air would cool off his brother's ambitions to become what he once was. Following behind Nikolas muttered things, though they were only coming as grumbles.
