Quote:
It really is the most impossible of impossible missions: how do you follow the graphical improvement of an entire game? Have a nap for a month or two? Boogie with Party Pete? Go on holiday to Brimhaven? Well, we've taken a different approach, following RuneScape High Detail with some updates that have been anticipated for a very long time...

Take your bank, for example. Many players have called for a better way of managing it, to help sort and organise the mess of herbs, long forgotten quest objects and holiday items. So, this month we will be adding a few features, the most prominent of which will be a new tabbing structure. This will allow you to order your bank according to categories that you define: you could gather your runes together on one tab, for example, and food on another. There will also be a search button and extra options for banking and removal that will aid you when moving quantities of items about.

'Moving items about' leads us neatly to our second anticipated feature: Item Lending. This superb service will allow free players and members to use their own wealth for the benefit of their companions by lending them handy items, powerful weapons, valuable armour and a few fancy hats too. Only one item will be lendable at any time, for a number of hours up to and including 24 hours, or until either of you log out. More information on release!

It's at this point in the month that we look back with rose-tinted glasses and get a little nostalgic. Do you remember your first days in RuneScape: leisurely wandering round Tutorial Island, making bread, catching fish and firing arrows at rats from behind a fence? Good times! A wind of change has been blowing about Tutorial Island, however, and it's brought a whiff of danger with it...

The next update will move the Tutorial from Tutorial Island to a quarantined Lumbridge, where a three-headed dragon will be terrorising people and generally being a nuisance. Luckily for the citizens, a passing White Knight, Sir Vant, will be on hand to hold back the beast. Far from being able to handle the situation on his own, he'll be after a willing adventurer to keep him supplied and do a spot of fighting.

The new Tutorial will be more quest-like and exciting, giving players a reason to create a new character and give it a go. If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, any player will be able to collect the new Tutorial's reward - two experience lamps - whether they have completed it or not.

The Tutorial is not the only planned improvement to Lumbridge. There will be the Lumbridge Achievement Diary, packed with Beginner, Easy and Medium tasks. High-level players will have no trouble completing these assignments, but there are certainly some interesting rewards to be had. Be prepared to craft, mine, explore and tan your way to success!

You thought Lumbridge was only for learning the ropes, respawning and chefs with cake issues? Well, you'll find that there's more to the running of Lumbridge than meets the eye, as a number of NPCs will be looking to employ hard-working and diligent low/mid-level players with their day-to-day tasks. Deliveries need to be made, goblins killed and resources gathered, all in the name of a decent wage.

Our final update this month will be a first for RuneScape: a Wilderness quest. You'd be forgiven for thinking that means relentless combat, stark landscapes and the odd revenant sending you back to Lumbridge (to complete some Achievement Diary tasks, perhaps?); rather unusually, it centres on a small girl, who will have other ideas.

Beginning in the Wilderness but then moving to a parallel realm, Spirit of Summer will require you to meet the young girl's family and prepare them for their first holiday in decades. There's the small issue of a neighbour who's reluctant to let the family leave, but you've dealt with larger problems before, right? A charming adventure awaits, with a few surprises thrown in.

Less of a surprise will be the website updates. The traditional Players' Gallery and Postbag from the Hedge will be on hand, with a wallpaper that shows some RuneScape favourites in a different light.

So, you thought July was only about the graphical updates? It would seem that RuneScape has other ideas...

Jagex are slowy getting into my good books.

..... -growls- A quest in the wilderness? They must be joking, right? Revs are worse than any PKr. Looks like there's another quest I'll never complete.

On the other hand - July solely for Lumbridge updates? Oh, I'm in LOVE! It's about darn time! I can't wait to see what rewards the Lumbridge diary has in store! Maybe it's legs? Or a cape? Oooh... Or BOOTS! -giddy with anticipation-

Thank you Penny for posting this - I'm at work and can't access Runescape. XD

Haha, no worries. =P Looks like someones excited.

Personaly i've never really gotten into the Diarys, they bore me.

But whatever floats your boat! biggrin
PostPosted: Mon Jul 07, 2008 7:02 am

Yes - I am excited. XD Though I think it'll be hilarious if we need to plant a mage tree at Lumby. I actually had one there until I hacked it up. And I have NO more mage seeds. Hmm... looks like anticipation, definitely.

I like the diaries - rewards for doing things that should already have been done? Oh yeah, I'm there. Karamja can just GTH in my opinion, though. Fire Cape - seriously?! I couldn't even get to the wave to kill that little demon guy they wanted me to kill. Mainly out of boredom, but there's also the underlying fact that I hate combat.

I can't wait for the bank improvement too - maybe that means all my stuff won't disappear! WOOT. And hopefully it means that we'll get more bank space too? That would be VERY nice...

in my opinion, the wild quest may not be require you take your amour and stuff, just a few items that you can get back if those reverants kill your sorry a**.

But anyways, i am glad they are coming out with a better way to organize the bank, i was thinking about this yesterday as a possible way of a july update. And i am stunn that it is. :3 gotta love the Tabs.

tutorial... lol, me create a new account for it? Is jagex trying to CHEAT on gainning more players? "OMG WE HIT 3MILLION PLAYERS!!!!" in some crappy article? >.>' nice try.

I remember someone saying back that when the lending system comes out they are not going to lend items out till all the bugs and stuff are fixed. >.>;
I am with you! No lending out any of any of my items... <.< item i mean. It is only 1. LOL.

--thinking of ways to organize my bank with tabs... wondering how many i can make... >.> i know there is a bank limit still.--

(1st idea)
1st- miscellaneous items- items that don't have a section to be placed in
2nd- Daily uses- for items that i use daily
3rd- Clothes, armor, weapons-
4th- Herblore and pots
5th- Cooking and fishing
6th- wcing,firemaking, fletching,
7th- mining, crafting, smithing
8th- summoning, construction
9th- farming and hunter
10th- runecrafting, magic (staffs, tiaras, tallismans)
11th- slayer, prayer

(2nd idea)
1st = skill i am training atm (limited by items depending on using. meaning, if i am mining mith, addy, and coal, those are the only things in there. Unless i am teleporting to a certain place. So glories might be in there as well as my varrock armor, rune pick axes and maybe gems. smile

2nd= Sell items/depose - items that i want to sell, drops, give away, items that i don't need.

3rd= miscellaneous items
4rd- Clothes, armor, weapons-
5th- Herblore and pots
6th- Cooking and fishing
7th- wcing,firemaking, fletching,
8th- mining, crafting, smithing
9th- summoning, construction
10th- farming and hunter
11th- runecrafting, magic (staffs, tiaras, tallismans)
12th- slayer, prayer

Hmm... Hmmmmmm....
Ok ok, so I've been waiting for this for the past week, and I'm quite pleased smile

I think if they have a bank manager, mine will be even messier than before, haha. Oh, I'm such a bad organizer, I wouldn't be surprised if it's like... "Now where did I put those... Rawr..." At least they have a search bar, Bwahahaha pirate

I wonder how much the Experience Lamps from Tutorial will be o-o... 200? haha. Maybe even 20* level? 1400 for summoning, hehehe. Oh well, damn imagination.

Actually, looking yesterday while Cooking and browsing the RuneScape Community Forums, I saw a picture of a glitch with a Green Quest Symbol (Achievement Diary Symbol) in Lumbridge. BOB'S AXES SHOP IS WHERE ONE WILL BE 3nodding I wonder if I can plant a Magic Tree with 70... Ugh, stupid Stranger Plant only gets me up to 73, how stupid. Guess if there's a Magic Tree for Hard, I'll have to try my luck with *groan* Evil Dave's Stew >.<...

Item Lending.... Guess I'll have to borrow my friend's whip for a lil bit so I can get 90/90/90.. Doubt I'll have money after this 99 >.>' Or my friend's BGS, bwahaha... OR OR... My friend's 3rd age Mage >.>'''... I don't know, haha....

Still no Agility updates, but oh well, haha.
Overall, good month is what I see. Hopefully we'll see at least one of these great updates today or tomorrow cool

Its about ******** up time. Soon people can find stuff in they're banks that they could have sworn they dropped months ago. Oh right and a new achievement diary. Although about this new tutorial. Wouldn't it be better if after you make your character you pop up in front of lumbridge castle and some shady old guys asks you: "Do you want to go through the tutorial, new player?" So that if you not a new player you can just walk away.

Spenny's birthday is in July?! No wai! You have to tell us the date now that you've teased us. And you too Lord Sutekh!

D2T - to me, it has everything to do about the wild. I get shivers and panic attacks thinking of doing a clue scroll there, much less an actual quest. And I agree with the item lending, mainly because I'm evil and greedy about the stuff I buy.

1st - Dump tab - Everything Else (coins, tokkul, trading sticks, agility, drops until listed, stuff wanted to be sold, etc)
2nd - armour/clothes/weapons/slayer
3rd - herblore/farming
4th - cooking/fishing
5th - crafting/runecraft
6th - mining/smelt/construction
7th - fletch/wcing/firemaking/hunter

Granted, mine will be slightly more cramped than yours - but at least I'll be able to FIND everything now! And I'm totally keeping my infinity in a box. XD

Hammy - Garden Pie = 5+ to farming skill. And you have two bites of it.
