Miss Kato stood on the neatly trimmed grass, liking how it felt beneath her bare feet. This was her first class here at D-Corp, and it was out of her expertise. But the young woman would not let something like that rain on her parade. A small quite smile graced her lips and she did some routine stretches. There would be more then enough room for her and the students to move about.
Her powder blue kimono was folded perfectly, the sleeves whispering around her wrists. Dark blue hakama brushed lightly against the grass, falling from her waist in crisp pleats. She had pulled her hair back into a lose tail, bangs falling just above her brows, but well out of her sea blue eyes.
Neither of her students had any prior classes in this subject, and she was hoping that they would all be about to learn from one another. Working to keep herself calm the short Asian woman began doing breathing exercises as she waited for her students to arrive.

Damaris made her way towards where she saw the woman standing. She was told that this was the place where the class would be held so she could only assume that this was the teacher.
She was dressed in rather loose, baggy clothes. It wasn't the ideal clothes for this particular class, however, since she had started to begin showing, she had to take extra precautions to try and keep it a secret still.
She realized however, since this was a melee class she might have to let the teacher know...she hoped not, she hoped she would only be instructing them on basics and specific blocks and basic attacks but not have to actually fight another yet...but, she was only wishing.
"Hello...are you Ms. Kato?" Damaris inquired glumly as she approached the woman.

"I am." She said bowing slightly from her waist. Her sharp, but kind, sea blue eyes took the student in. Miss Kato let her mind reach out and take stock of the girl's emotional state. Though she had been born an empath, the woman was often shy about using her gifts, but this had been one of the things she had promised herself she would do. Feeling the girl's apprehension Miss Kato let a smile come across her lips.
"When your class mate has arrived we will start into class with some breathing exercises and lead meditation. I find that sort of thing helps relax before doing anything new. Please feel free to start stretching out on your own if you wish." The sound of her voice was soothing, another useful talent of the young teacher's. Miss Kato could influence the emotional state of another person, or group of people subtly with the infection of her voice alone.
Standing at her ease the short woman waited patiently for her other student to arrive.

"Uh, alright." Damaris said. She still seemed on edge. The soothing presence of the teacher helped some but she was in far too deep a concerned edgy state that soothing words alone would not be able to calm her down.
She guessed she might as well stretch a little while she waited for her class mate, she wondered who it would be.

Oliver had finally managed to find the class, and stepped in quickly, hoping that he hadn't arrived too late. "Hello...I'm here for melee training?" he asked, looking eager and perhaps a bit apprehensive. He hadn't really been looking forward to learning how to fight, but he'd enjoyed most of his previous classes, and tried to have a positive attitude about it. He smiled as he approached the teacher, and glanced over at Damaris with a smile as well.
As always, his young brass companion, Trace, accompanied him into the classroom, chirruping softly as he observed the new place, and hushing as Oliver put a finger to his lips, noticing that the area and the teacher seemed to have a serene air to them.

"Welcome." Miss Kato smiled. "Lets sit down for a moment so that I can talk to you about this class." The short woman knelt in the eastern style, resting her hands on her knees. "I want for you both to come away from this class with a basic understanding of how to protect yourself, and an idea of where you might want to go as far as training in the martial arts. We will be looking at body mechanics, one basic form or dance, several different punches, kicks and blocks, as well as how to fall properly." She looked between the two of them, "I will be allowing you to practice on myself and each other, but for now I will be the only one doing any throwing."
There was a stillness about Kato. Her voice was soft, though it carried and one did not need to strain top hear her. "Is there anything you would like to discuss? Anything that you have questions about, or areas you would like to focus on?"

Damaris glanced over at the boy who headed over towards them. She guessed he must be her classmate that Ms. Kato had mentioned. She didn't seem to be in too much of a social mood. Honestly if it were up to her Damaris would have stayed home today, her hormones were wreaking havoc with her again.
As the instructor explained the course to them Damaris finally came to terms with the fact that she would be having to fight physically today, that meant she had to say something to the teacher now. She was terrified of the reaction she might get.
"Uhm...Ms. Kato, could I talk with you for a minute?...privately?" She asked standing up.

"Of course, lets just set off to the side." Looking to the other child, "Please just one moment." Gracefully getting to her feet Miss Kato stepped to the side and waited for the young woman to fallow.

Damaris got up and followed the teacher. She wasn't sure exactly how to explain her situation to her. She didn't quite know what she was going to think of her, even though it wasn't her fault.
"Uhm...Ms. Kato," She began once they would out of ear shot of the camel and his dragon, "I...can't be hit in the stomach." She explained starting to fiddle with a necklace, "I'm...expecting so, I really can't be hit there..." She said explaining her pregnancy. She didn't make eye contact with the teacher, she didn't want any more disgusted looks.

"With child." Miss Kato mused for a moment, "You really should not be in a combat class at all then, but I can cast a protective spell on you while we are in class, something that will not allow your unborn child to come to harm while we practice." She smiled softly at the girl, no judgment in her expression.

"I still need to learn how to defend myself..." Damaris mumbled. She knew it wasn't the best to be in a fighting class while pregnant, but at least she was saying something instead of risking the childs well being.
"..Thanks." Damaris said when Ms. Kato said she would be able to protect the baby. She was glad that she didn't seem too judgmental, but it was still something she wasn't comfortable talking about. Even if it was just part of her animal DNA.

The camel smiled a little as the teacher explained, seeming to relax. She seemed nice and calm, and that helped to calm him as well. He could function much better if he was calm, and had been expecting something more rigorous, or a loud, strict training teacher who would make him flustered. He shook his head as she asked about any discussion, and blinked as Damaris requested to talk with her to the side.
Oliver's head tilted a little as Damaris rose to speak with the teacher privately, but he was polite and remained seated where he was, reaching over to stroke Trace's neck, pleased that the dragon was behaving so well. Sometimes it was hard merely to get him to hush, something Oliver didn't like to do, but was often required so that it wouldn't disrupt the classes.

Closeing her eyes and whispering something softly she reached out and touched Damaris' stomach for a moment. After that she smiled softly, "And with a child it is even more important to be able to care for one's self in all ways." She did not wait for the girl to fallow her or answer before heading back over the other student to continue class.

Damaris felt a little reassured now. She was still on edge, however she would be able to do her class now without hurting the baby. She walked back after Ms. Kato and took her seat on the grass again. She knew the boy there must think she was pretty weird already, she decided against looking over at him or speaking.

Miss Kato lead them in a number of stretches and explained why each was done after the other. Her eastern heritage coming out, the way she saw it each part of their body, physical and otherwise, were connected to each other, and if one part was out of balance then the entire body, mind, and spirit would suffer. Her voice softly explained this as she ran them through the stretches.
"Now that we have warmed up the next thing to learn is how to move. How to punch, kick, block, and move during a fight." First she preformed the basic 23 positions, flowing between them like water. "When you leave class today you will be able to move between the first five positions." Miss Kato moved back through those motions. "Now I want you to fallow me." She started going back through the motions.
