It's the year 300 BC and a century ago, the 300 brave Spartans that stood against the Persian army fell in Thermopylae pass - a gruesome slaughter that only the filthy hands of a traitor could orchestrate.

The Great Persian Empire now spans from the jungles of East Asia to the sands of Egypt and into the mountains of lower Europe. Many nations have fallen prey to the bloodlust of the God-King Xerxes and the Mighty Roman Republic anticipates a war on the horizon. In a cunning attempt to break the Persians from the inside and weaken them in the event of a war, a band of Roman warriors infiltrated the Persian Empire and formed a secret society -
The Conclave.

Now, 40 years later, The Conclave grows larger every day as more flock to the rebel uprising- its members driven by the same hate for their shared oppressors. In their isolated desert base walk the Gauls - the rugged, axe-wielding barbarians from the snowy North, the Romans - skilled, cultivated warriors, the Easterners - men and women who fight with hand and foot and all manner of weapons, Arabs - with their curved scimitars and fast horses, and also those who've yet to learn the skills and hardships of battle.

Their leader hides amidst the members of The Conclave, giving orders through his 5 generals and encouraging his fellow rebels to challenge eachothers' skills in the Arena, build relationships among their comrades, and will issue commands to spy on Persian nobilities and raid their caravans.

This is The Conclave. Welcome to our world.

This time period is before my knowledge, but I did take a class on the Roman Empire while I was in Italy and the Roman Empire did not start until roughly the year 27 BC. If this is set during 260 AD, then Italy would still be the Roman Republic.

Good point, i suppose it was still a Republic at this point. At first I took your comment to mean that it didn't exist at all! lol. Yeah, now that i think about it, the reign of Ceasar Octavianus wasn't til 27 BC to 13 AD. But the Republic works for the story too. I'll just fix that, thanks. ^_^

Hmm... i guess i only said "Roman Empire" once. Fixed that! Luckily its a fairly inconsequential detail - to the plot, that is - that didn't require a makeover. 3nodding

Yea, it's not a huge deal. It just changes the setup of the government in Italy which hasn't been established yet in the rp anyway.

well, i wasn't really planning on making Rome *that* important in the story, at this point at least. just kind've a distant ally - though only in the sense that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" type thing. maybe the occasional supply or trade opportunity and perhaps a future event that involves them.

I think the character that I'm working on is going to be a sort of runaway from the Republic.
