Is it a Conundrum, or Just Emily Being... Difficult?

Okay, first of all, I absolutely have no opinion when it comes to cliches; well written or not, I don't care. So, that said, you must understand my plight: I really don't understand what is 'cliche' to other people. I have a bad feeling when I write that I'm writing cliche things without realizing.

Secondly, I absolutely hate love stories. Don't ask why I write them. I hate stories where people fall in love quickly and 'last', which is why, should you ever hear the words "I love you" in one of my stories, it will not be exchanged. In fact, should someone say it, I will ruin their lives as I write because they, in my opinion, are retarded. Just to clear that up, because I'm under the impression that my readers (i.e. Kirby, at this point) believe me to be the type to write fluffy love stories. Which I have always tried to refrain from.

Thirdly, I refuse to make couples unless the story focuses upon the relationship between two characters. I won't do it. Absolute refusal, here and now, okay? For example, my friend Haley, who is Leilani's real-life model, wants Allex. Yes, it is true she has a crush on him, but he's not the type to be worrying about that, especially considering the couple would be Romeo and Juliet, i.e. CLICHE, which I actually understand. She begs me a lot to create the couple. Should Leilani and Allexander begin to like one another in that way, remember that I am dead and someone has assumed my identity under false pretenses.

All this said, you must, at this point, understand that I am not a 'girly' writer writing happy little stories for romanticly-centered girls. I am a writer who writes for those who want a more raw story from the perspective of someone who is not, in my opinion, an absolutely retarded retard who deserves to be tortured to death for their idiocy, AKA NOOBS. Book Noobs, to be exact. I hate them. People always want happy endings, but they don't always come. Personally, I hate myself because I am a writer newb (Newb, as in, willing to learn, but not knowing much, verses noob, idiot unwilling to be smart). I want happiness for my characters, but I can't stand stories where 'love conquers all' for people who met three days ago.

I personally believe that a semi-happy ending is the best. So, should you be reading my stories, open your mind to raw humanity and close your mind against silly things like love.

Now that my rant is complete, I shall open the topic for all who have an opinion on something of this similar type. I am especially interested in Kirby's opinion, considering she's reading both of my stories. Be prepared, my dear, for something other than 'I love you'.

As a side note, I believe my avi needs some elemental wings of light to make herself complete.

All right, here I go! Again.

I already know that Lucian pulled out of the Mary Sue test with an outrageous 87 points, but I refuse to change him! Why? Becuase Serenity came out with almost 50, and she is so totally not a Mary Sue! So I think that he's really more like a 30-something, and not really that bad at all.

I'm planning on turning him into a moth one of these days. rofl

"Writing/Book discussions"--a barren land of waste where lone cacti stand, rarely visited by woodpeckers that only wish for nourishment. Or a forum. Not sure which.... mrgreen

Well, as for me, all my stories somehow have romance in them--just a little. From holding hands only to like hardcore sex. even though I'm sick of romance in MY life, it doesn't mean that my characters have to be deprived. People hook up right and left in Ametris....

But for some strange reason, your book is full of teenagers, so romance is pretty important to address. Remember that they're all interdimensionally hormonal; and if there is any guy in their species or even close, the girls will dive like vultures. It's what they do; it's how normal teenagers deal with stress that doesn't even compare to a full scale adventure. Romance would be logical.

Now. I don't really mind what you do, aside form this: simply because of the way you have written this story, Lucian and Lulubelle CANNOT ever be together. DO NOT DO THAT. IT has to be Lucian and Serenity or no one. That's the way you have set up the story; anything else and it would turn out all wrong, and ruin the whole book.

And It's not that I believe in happy endings; I just don't think that any ending is happy or sad. Like, my version of a happy ending usually ends in a lot of nice people dying. Why? Because it's in my religion that people are better off when they die. Probably yours too. And also--a story really never has an end. So theoretically, someone's tale can only kind of end when they are dead; hence, books ending in people dying. But then there's their spawn, and their legends...so--no such thing as an ending at all really. So any one that is HALFWAY DECENT, note, is good for me.

As for raw humanity, remember that "love" is a huuuuuge part of the rawest humanity there is. People need that kind of companionship. Especially teenagers--which your book has in excess. The only reason you are allowed to skim over that is if you're writing a murder-mystery or your book has only ten-year-olds in it...and even they can get hormonal. Love isn't a silly thing...much as I'd like to say otherwise. It's necessary. I think you're avoiding it for some deep-down reason, which I understand completely, but it will detract from your story's overall value.

Can't say much for the other story; I haven't read the new bit yet.

Hope it helps. ^^

Love is so overrated. Spoilers in blue

I hate writing. Why does it have to be so complicated???

My plans, however, do involve romance. Like you say, it is either Lu-and-ser or noone. However, You will just have to wait and see what happens... I hate the suspense... I'm more stressed becuase of that stupid romance than anything...

All right, this may spoil some things, but nothing major, I hope...
Each character has a slate... SPOILERS WATCH OUT I think I'm just trying to prove a point, now....

Ryna will follow with Belle, all the while learning how to control her newly awakened powers. Eventually, she is left alone and goes to Atlantis, where she meets Zadi and learns that she is the one foretold to be the new ruler of the Atlanteans. Zadi (Zay-dee) is her potential love interest. I'll probably kill him.

Kono will betray the group in exchange for a trip back to Earth. She is required, however, to fight agaisnt her friends until the war is won. For some reason, she ends up falling in 'love' with Konstantin. (He is quite charming, after all...)

Lulubelle and Lucian will not fall in love. They agree to think about marriage and their respective roles. If Belle becomes ruler as she is supposed to be, Lucian agrees to support her; if becoming her husband is required, he will do so.

Seth is still in the works. I'll most likely kill her. Natalie will definitely survive. She will see her revenge all the way through.

Serenity will die.

Aria will be killed in a confrontation with Allexander.

Allexander will admit he is jealous of his brother's relationship with Serenity, but he wanted his throne more than he wanted her.

Leilani will really start to pine after Allexander. REALLY start to. She will begin to hate Konstantin for what he has done, and will resolve to end him as soon as possible.

We will meet Sierra, a half elf orphan, and her fiance Christopher.

I feel so stressed... I really don't know about this story!

......that just sucks.

I like all of it except Serenity dying...the Kono thing is brilliant. But too many potential lovers die, it might turn into cliche soon....

In the end, basically everyone over 75 will die. confused And don't worry, I won't leave Serenity entirely out of the book. However, I refuse to kill-and-resurect her. once you're dead, you're dead!

I'm not sure what to do with Kono... I'm contemplating whether or not to make her have Kon's child. (That's really screwed up....) I've deemed it unneccesary, but for some reason I want to make her pregnant? Miscarriage, maybe?
I don't know...

All right, here's a conundrum: how to make this flashback clearer!

Very near the cottage was a small pool, clear and high in craggy rocks. The sun burned through the trees, and dusky shadows touched her skin as she went to it. Quickly she stripped off her clothes and sunk under the water, letting her immense abundance of hair float in the small currents. This was her ritual: every night she would bathe here and watch the moon rise and fill the night with silvery radiance.
If anything, it gave some meaning to her life.
It was reason to see the whole day through. The moon rose every night, to lighten the darkness left by the absence of the sun. It did so without changing. In the same way, the cycle of sun and moon mirrored her life. Each day she rose, went through a meaningless routine, and slept once again. She never spoke to people, only to herself, and in her dreams she saw vaguely recognizable shadows.
Her mind was always working.
She remembered it clearly, the first day. She had woken up in the bed, and read the letter lying on the small, wooden table. Then she had cried, and run out to try and find her way to the paths to see if it was true. Before, however, she could see if she really was trapped, she had encountered the boy.
She must have looked a state, with her messy hair, wide, red eyes, and trembling limbs. He had screamed and run, and she had gone after him, calling for help.
“Please,” she had cried. “Wait!”
The next thing she knew, she had reached her destination: the edge of the forest. Just beyond the trees, she saw the boy, lying strangely on the ground. She tried to reach forward, but something sparked with light as she touched it, something she recognized as a barrier. She touched it again, watching the ripple of light blur her vision of the distant town. The boy had not moved. It was then that she looked closer, and saw his twisted neck and limbs, and his eyes—wide with terror.
She screamed and ran, and soon found herself far down the path. Tears were streaming down her cheeks, and she felt nausea creeping through the pit of her stomach. And then she was hungry.
Back at the cottage, she re-read the letter and found the chest.
“The basics will be there every morning,” she read. “If you want something, just think about it as you open the chest. However, it will only work on solid things.”
Upon opening it, she found three eggs, a pitcher of milk, and a still-warm loaf of bread, along with some wrapped slabs of bacon.
“Breakfast,” she murmured, taking everything out and closing the chest again. She decided to test it. “A chicken,” she murmured, saying the first thing to come to mind.
It jumped out of the chest with a terrified squawk, and she screamed as its wings beat against her face. It jumped onto the table, upsetting the pitcher off milk. On the floor, she let out a shocked gasp as frigid white milk cascaded onto her head. The chicken rushed out of the open door, and she sat despondent, her heart pounding, her golden hair slick with quickly-becoming-sticky milk.
She opened the chest again, this time thinking of another pitcher of milk.
Rapunzel presently watched the moon high above, silently letting tears slide down her cheeks.
“Why would someone do this to me?” she sobbed. “Have I done something to deserve this…?”
