Summer, the time for relaxing and enjoying the warm weather but not to one mare. It was a time of uncomfortable heat and humidity. Sadie sighed as she trudged up the middle of the stream she was in. It was the only way to keep herself cool as she wondered throughout the lands. Being from the mountains she was used to a much colder climate and not the warmth that was down here in the valley below. She was fairing rather well now compared to how she had started off the summer.
The huskey mare blew her bangs out of her eyes for the hundreth time while she grumbled under her breath. It was a good thing they were as short as they were for if they were much longer she would have eaten them just to get them out of her way. Flicking her tail she chased away the pesky bugs that swarmed about her. Today really wasn't looking out to be going very well. Everyone back at the teepee was off doing thier own thing. Even Taylor had been away for sometime but Sadie had heard that she had met some stallion and was trying to teach him some kind of lesson. Well good for her, she thought and continued on her way.

Akuba's first summer, well the first summer he can remember, he felt the hot sun on his back, he gently greeted the sun, the cold is the only thing he knew well,he stayed in the shade,"so hot",he whined to himself, Akuba was a good traveler, virtually unseen, an outcast, a nobody, nobody knew him. The flow of water could be herd, he rushed over and jumped into it, the water massaged and soothed him, he happily swam in the flowing water, he almost blended into some parts, he didn't see the older female ahead of him, until he nearly swam into her,"sorry." He wan't looking where he was going, Awwww, damn, swimming with my eyes closed again?he thought.

Sadie glared at the stallion as he splashed by her in his swimming. She shook herself off and was glad for her short mane, it wouldn't get in her way even if it was wet. "Watch where you are going!" she scolded him. She really couldn't see him well in the water, as he blended in with it pretty well. Honestly! she thought, to herself.

"I am so sorry,er...this is kinda embarrassing, are you ok, I'm very sorry, I normally watch where I'm going,it's just...",Akuba paused and thouht to himself, she's gonna kill me. He got out of the water, his long mane dripping wet,"My name is Akuba, I am very sorry for getting you wet and bumping into you, I hope you can accept my formal apology?"

The huskey mare sighed and watched him as he got out of the water and flustered about. He really did seem sorry and she shouldn't have snapped at him like that. She wasn't with Taylor so there was no excuse for her to act like that. If Settia saw how she reacted, the old red mare would be disappointed in her. She sighed again and shook her head. "Look, it's alright, just watch where your going next time. I don't think the fish enjoy your splashing about either." she said reluctantly and pawed at the river bottom. "My name is Sadie." she finished.

"I'm usually a bit more discrete when not bumping into things",Akuba looked at his hooves,he gathered his courage again, a looked up at her,"Nice to meet you Saddie",he wasn't so sure of her after the way she snapped at him, but he pleasantly smiled at her, his mane was still dripping, but his bands shined and glinted in the sun,he had so many feathers on him, anymore and he could just about almost pass off as a wind soquili,or so he thought.

She looked up and watched him. He was deffinately a different character all right. "We all have our moments of clumsiness I guess." she replied calmly and shurgged. Then she bent down to take a drink of the water she was standing in.

"For me that's lots of clumsey moments,",silence fell over both soquili, suddenly Akuba blurted out,"You're coat is amazing, it somewhat resembles a husky?,"Akuba chocked on the air. It was too quiet.I the company of others their was usually more to say. Sadie's chocolatey and vanillay coat glinted in the light, it was smooth and shiny, her mane and tail neatly groomed, her watery blue eyes, this all seemed so beautiful to Akuba, but she seemed a bit stand offish and cold, but not the worst he'd met.

Sadie was rather taken back by his sudden outburst and compliment on her coat. In her suprise, her mind went blank and she didn't really know how to respond to him. No one really had comment on her before nor in such a mannor. Her cheeks flushed a bit before she came back to her senses. "Um...well thank you, I suppose. I am a Husky Soquili." he responded a bit causioutly.

"Ah",he sighed,"my favorite canine breed,no kidding",he said smiling and shading his mane."And I am a...",Akuba stopped to think,"...nothing I suppose, I dunno what I am." Akuba had never thought about what type of soquili he was, or his proper origin, Akuba snapped back to life,"Any way who cares what I am,"he shrugged and laughed it off, he sensed a slight bit of an uplift in the husky mares mood, not much but a little. "I've been called lots of things, even a Water Nymph, daft, eh? I'm not that pretty, I can't kill people in one glance, if i could, i'd be terribly unhappy and lonely."

"Also I don't think you have fins or gills to be a Water Nymph and that is what I believe they call the Kelpie and Mer Soquili." She had never seen either of the water Soquili before but she had heard stories how they lured young foals into the water and then drowned them. But those were only stories, no one could be sure if they were true or not. "I wouldn't say your nothing though. You are a Soquili, thats what you are. Just as I am a Soquili. If you have wings or other appendages then you would be a different species of Soquili but you don't have those things." she said rather matter of factly. She didn't like when others thought of themselves as nothing. Her biological mother had thought of her as nothing more than a runt and something that would not survive. Her wolf mother, though, had taught her that she was something, someone special to be cared for.

"True, very true, I've met Kelpie soquili, nice but had to stay close with them because they love to be in the water so much and mer, never in my life have seen one, I don't think I'd get along well with them",Akuba laughed jokingly,"as they don't have back legs, they'd have to flop, but not being in water for a certain amount of time kills them just like fish, or so I've been told,"Akuba was intrigued at the subject or water or fish type soquili. "And as for wind soquili, some can be a bit loopy or just snobbish",Akuba had met any rude wind soquili in his past and still was till this day.
Akuba flicked his long mane out of his face, while trying not to get saddie wet again in fear of upsetting her, he didn't like to see anyone mad at him, the wind blew and he shivered ever so slightly.

"I have not met either of the water horses, so I wouldn't know what they are like or what thier tendencies are." she said casually and watched him curiously. She finally decided that it was time for her to come out of the water and she walked out of the river slowly as not to scare the fish. She stepped up on the bank gingerly and continued. "I live with a wind and he is not loopy or snobbish. He is very wise, well beyond his years."

"Then you my dear, are very lucky,"akuba bowed, he also got out of the water, a little faster than he but gracefully and careful, so he didn't scare the fish...much. Using his log legs to stride out.

She shrugged and then shook the water from her coat. "I suppose you could call it that but I don't think its luck at all." she responded nonchalantly. She never assumed it was because of luck that she had met anyone.
