About Teles

______________________

Taelence sat in a slump on the banks of the hot springs. Littered around her were several bottles, mostly empty of their contents. There was hardly enough light coming from the moon that night and so reading the labels on the bottles was impossible. But anyone near Tael would have been able to tell immediately, just from the strong, sour odor that seemed to permeate the air around her. It clung to her fur like a bad wine stain in a carpet.

The bottles had been full of alcohol. And Taelence was drunk stupid.

The reason, had anyone truly paid attention to her behavior of the past week, wasn't hard to determine. She'd broken things off with Chocolate. Oh sure, she'd been her normally perky self for most of the time. She really hadn't wanted to bother anyone with her problems. Especially not with the fiasco that had happened with Teles. But anyone whom knew Tael, really knew her, could see that she was suffering.

Have you ever tried to keep yourself from feeling heartbreak? After a while it starts to wear down on your soul. And so by Friday night, five or six days after leaving Chocolate, Taelence found herself with one big hole in her heart and more alcohol than was probably necessary.

She sat staring at her paws. She felt something down in the pit of her stomach, something that seemed very important to her, something that could change her life.

She hiccuped. And then fell over laughing hysterically.

Oh yeah, she was drunk.

Teles trotted lightly down the forest path, nose twitching irritably at the smell of musty alcohol. Had someone been drinking and thrown the bottles into the forest? ...still, it didn't quite matter. She was looking for Taelence.

Her friend was hurting...and yet Teles herself was feeling somewhat better...more sure of herself.

It wasn't right!

She wondered if, possibly...somehow...Ariston's words had managed to come true. It would explain the deep, cutting sadness that Teles had seen these past few days. But when the charcoal vixen had tried to pull Taelence to the side so she could make her friend spill...something always had come up.

Well...now nothing would.

Teles had followed Tael's scent from near the shop and found they were leading her towards the springs. It didn't take long afterwards that she came into the clearing.

Taelence's hysterical laughter greeted her...at the same time she noticed the bottles strewn along the bank of the springs. It really wasn't that hard to put two and two together.

Taelence was drinking...was drunk.

Teles pinned her ears and broke into a quick run towards her friend, slowing as she neared the Hot Springs bank. Concern was evident in her eyes, even in the dim light.

"Oh, Taelence... Why are you doing this to yourself?" She tried to make her voice soothing and just about managed as she waded in the few steps to nuzzle against her friend's cheek. Soon, she lifted her paw to grab Tael's chin, rephrasing her question: "What happened, Tael? What's wrong?"

Taelence tried very, very hard to get her eyes to focus on Teles. But in her current state she couldn't focus her eyes and respond in a serious way.

Her head lolled to the side as Teles grabbed a hold of her chin. She hiccuped some more and then tried to pull a sentence from her foggy brain.

"Telesss!" she cried out sluggishly. "I'mm -hic!- getten sshnockered! Wassit look like I'm doin?!" She giggled and then toppled out of Teles's arms. She lay on the ground and laughed until tears came out of her eyes.

Then it wasn't funny anymore. Taelence the drunk turned into Taelence in pain.

"Haven you heard -hic!- Teless?! Apparently I sssuck at relationssshipss -hic!-," tears leaked down her face from blood shot eyes. "No one sshould be around me. I only causse pain...where ever I go."

Sobs silently racked her body; she was utterly at her end. And the huge quantity of alcohol she'd drank didn't help either.

Tael's first response was - Teles had to admit - pretty funny. Of course it was obvious what she was doing...but her slight amusement was quickly squished as Tael started to cry and weep in those few seconds.

Aghast, Teles whimpered and slid up the bank to try and comfort her friend as best she could, settling herself half on top of her friend, her paw lightly stroking at Tael's ear as she tried to ease her friend's distress. When it didn't seem to help, Teles flattened her ears and nuzzled closer.

"Tael! That's not true! You've brought me so much happiness...and...and it can only get better now! If it didn't work out with Cho, then it just wasn't meant to be...and I know it hurts, hun... I know...but you're going to get through this, 'cause I'm here with you, alright~?"

Teles didn't feel the slightest bit awkward at the moment. Taelence was hurting...and Teles needed to help her friend. Not because it was expected, but because like Tael, Teles couldn't stand to see her 'other half' in pain.

Taelence quieted under Teles touch. Having the charcoal vixen around her had always been like having someone put balm on a hurt. Teles buffed most of the pain Tael went through, without being asked and without thinking of the consequences that her actions might cause her. Even in her drunken state Taelence knew she didn't deserve Teles and yet she was too selfish to deny herself Teles's comfort.

Before she quite knew what she was doing, Taelence had pinned Teles beneath her body and was kissing her. This, even in her drunken state, felt right. Everything felt right with Teles. But Taelence felt wrong for doing it. It wasn't right to string her along. Not when she'd given Teles up to Ariston.

But she couldn't make herself stop. Her paws felt along Teles's sides, her legs, touching, pleasing, and still wanting more.

"Teles," she breathed. It was a miracle that Teles hadn't pushed her off yet. Taelence really did reek of alcohol.

Teles wasn't sure what happened, exactly. All she knew was one moment, she was cooing all sorts of comforting words into Tael's ear and the next...well, there she was. Underneath Tael. Kissing Tael.

It shocked her to the core. And yet, she'd wanted it all along, there was no sense denying it...and so she sank into the comfort of the kiss and even went so far as to return it...but the touches were too much. She seemed to burn beneath her dark coat as Tael touched; and it was a slow, lingering burn... Still, Teles kept a level head. She was sober. Tael was drunk. And as she'd seen, Tael could go from happy-as-hell to crying-a-river in three-point-five seconds.

Instead of pushing her friend off - which she wouldn't have done, regardless - she quietly waited until Tael came to her senses and licked her snout reassuringly with a slight smile.

"It's okay, Tael...but, uhh...your breath has a loooot of alcohol on it." She murmured somewhat sheepishly though she really did not like the smell. Fluffing her friend's fur somewhat, she dared to ask: "Wanna let me up? I figure if you want to talk with me...I can have a drink or two as well...and I'll listen and we'll figure out something from there...okay?"

. o O ( And the madness truly starts... >D )

-= (( Batten down the hatches, Ladies and Gentlemen. Be warned that this is NOT for the faint of heart >D ))

Taelence slumped to the side. Not completely sure what had just happened, she hauled herself up to where she still had at least four six packs left, good expensive stuff really, and grabbed two cans.

She walked back, surprisingly well considering, and set the can in front of Teles. She leaned back, sitting on her rump facing Teles. With an expert flick, she opened the can and took a sip. She'd become very good at this, after all the drinking she'd done tonight she'd had to be. She squinted at the vixen across from her.

"I," she said very slowly so she wouldn't jumble the words. "Dumped..Chocolate.." Here she spat his name and then continued. "A..week..ago." She broke out into a small fit of giggles. Dumped was such a childish term.

"Gone! He's all gone, and I don't know what I'm doing anymore!" a few more tears spilled from her eyes and she wiped them away, before taking another gulp of the alcohol. She hiccuped again, and smiled.

"Just when you're feeling better Teles, I start feeling worse. Ironic, isn't it? Apparently the Goddess doesn't think either of us should be happy at the same time,"

This was blasphemy and she knew it, but Tael was too drunk and too hurt to care.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 04, 2008 7:52 pm

Teles watched her friend move away as she sat up, shaking herself to rid her fur of the dirt. Stepping up the bank, she sat down as Tael put down the can in front of her. Eyeing it with something akin to disdain, she fiddled with the tab before managing to open it. She took a cautious sip before setting it down again...

And her eyes widened as Taelence confirmed that what Ariston had said was right.

"Tael...why? You were so happy to be with him!"

She wanted to slink closer to her friend, but stayed put and took another sip of the drink. She couldn't say it was the best thing she'd ever tasted...but it wasn't horrible, either.

She decided she'd wait over here until Taelence talked about it all she wanted to...and besides, Teles was pretty certain if she and Taelence touched at the moment...well, the results would probably be much like they'd just been.

She glowered at Tael's last comment but stubbornly remained silent, taking another swig of the liquid from the can.

Taelence shook her head and almost fell over.

Whoa! she thought. I can't do that. Not if I want to end up sprawled on the ground.

Tael played with the can between her front paws, looking everywhere but at Teles. She didn't want to talk about this. If it had been anyone other than Teles, she most definitely would not be sitting there. She wanted to pretend everything was fine, she didn't want to worry Teles. She wanted to spend her last night of drinking (because you could be sure that Teles would tell Crimson and that would be the end of her access to the liquor cellar) laughing, dancing with Teles, playing a happy drunk.

She wanted to feel Teles's lips on hers again.

Taelence sighed a sigh that seemed to go on forever. Life apparently would refuse to give her want she wanted tonight.

"Oh yes," her tone was sarcastic, something she remembered Rose's voice sounding like. "Happy to be with him. So ******** happy."

She took a huge swig from the can and tossed it aside even though it still had alcohol left in it. Tael was up on her feet again, angry, mostly, at Chocolate.

"Oh, sure it was nice enough at first. A smile, a hug. But after a while those faded. The affection disappeared. And then, soon, so did he," she spat to the side in disgust. She began to pace, awkward from the drink. "I am so glad that we never had children. Even better, we never slept together. He'll never have the pleasure of that conquest." She was practically screaming these words.

But she quieted and suddenly sat down hard. She clapped a hand over her mouth. She looked around a bit in panic and ran to the bushes, her stomach heaving. There were choking noises as well as crying. in the same position, she beat the ground with her paw.

"The stupid b*****d," she cried. Tael pulled herself to the hot springs to wash her mouth out. "If he didn't really want me in the first place, why toy with me? What good did it do?"

Teles scrunched her eyes closed in anger as Tael explained what Chocolate had done to her...and hadn't, as well. But it didn't stop Teles from burning with rage. How dare he treat her Taelence in such a heartless and unforgivable manner?! Her fur bristled somewhat, eyes opening as she heard a strangled urrp from Tael, who promptly ran to the bushes.

Wincing, Teles swallowed her drink again, quickly emptying it while her emotions ran high as Tael took care of herself at the edge of the hot springs.

"He doesn't deserve your time or your tears, Tael!" Teles spat, knocking away the can in her helpless rage. If Chocolate was anywhere nearby and she knew what he looked like, it wouldn't have been ridiculous to think she would go and beat the ever-living hell out of him. She got up abruptly and was shocked to find her balance was off; suck a slight kit drinking quickly wasn't a good thing.

She stalked over to Tael and sat down, bumping her shoulder with her nose.

"He's a piece of trash and you were right to throw him out in the garbage for what he did. I know you're hurting, Tael, but you're so much better off without him. He'd only drag you down and soil you...and I sure as hell don't want to see that~"

Taelence hiccuped and glared at Teles. Or she would have glared at Teles if she could have kept her eyes focused on the other vixen's face. Instead, she keeled over backwards and lay there quietly sobbing to herself.

"I can't do anything right," she murmured softly. "Nothing's right. Why is nothing right anymore? Where is the Goddess? Why does she let things happen like this? What purpose does it serve, Teles? Why must we always be so unhappy? I don't want to live my life like this, unhappy all the time..."

Tael stretched out and counted the stars above her.

"Why can't we feel good Teles? Don't you want to feel good?"

Drunk logic. It did and didn't make sense, but Taelence was too out of it to really notice was she was saying anymore. Teles was with her now. Whatever was wrong, in her foggy brain, Taelence knew that Teles would make it all better.

Teles stood a moment and wandered over to the box she'd seen Tael pull their drinks from and pulled another two out, awkwardly bringing them back and propping them into the sandy bank before slumping next to Taelence as she continued to speak of her woes.

Teles fiddled with the tab of her drink, opening it with a little less difficulty than she had before before taking a very large sip of it, slumping onto her haunches once again afterwards.

"I feel good when I'm with you, Tael." She blurted, immediately stilling for just a moment. Goodness, alcohol did such strange things to her brain-to-mouth coordination...as in, it completely destroyed it. And it could only get worse from here, as she was still drinking.

Lightly nosing Taelence, she shuffled lightly but still remained in a sitting position. She calmly looked up to the sky, lolling her tongue against her teeth. "I suppose...the Goddess would help us if we were taking a mortally dangerous path, Tael..."

So she wasn't totally sure about it...but she was on a roll, and so she continued on. "So we'll just have to take it one step at a time - together - until we come out into the light again. And then we'll be alright."

Teles nodded in a definite manner after that before looking down and offering Tael a smile and a soft nudge with her paw. "We'll do it together, okay?"

Taelence popped the top off the can Teles sat in front of her and took a sip. She liked the idea of her and Teles being together, working things out. Healing.

If she hadn't been inhibited she probably would have slapped herself for thinking those thoughts again. She couldn't have Teles anymore. But the alcohol took over and she was suddenly giggling.

"Hey Teles," she cried out in a sing-song voice. "Do you remember what I said about these hot springs?"

She raised an eyebrow and giggled again. She wanted a reaction from Teles, felt like being outrageous. But it didn't stop her from thinking the forbidden thoughts anyways.

"How drunk are you, anyways?" she asked, without waiting for Teles to answer her first question. Tael was pretty hammered. Someone probably should have taken away her drink, which she took another gulp of.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 16, 2008 9:51 pm

Teles ducked her head as Taelence asked her first question, struggling lightly again with the tab before she cracked it open. She cleared her throat with her eyes averted and took a very long, very large, sip.

The second question was easier to deal with - somewhat, as she'd never drank before - due to the less...enticing nature of it.

"I'ono..." She murmured. Her words were starting to slur together, but she wasn't actually drunk yet. Maybe if she drank another she'd be jumping into the springs and singing silly songs...then she'd be drunk.

Teles looked at Tael and mustered a slightly goofy grin. "How drunk are you, Tael?"

As a silly question...and you're sure to receive a silly answer.

Still, Teles took another swig of the drink. "What is this stuff, anyway?"

She flopped onto her side a moment, content to let her can sit there in front of herself. "And how the heck did you get all of it out here?"

Taelence focused for a moment before spitting out the words:

"I am so drunk," she slurred slightly. "That all I can see is alcohol which is not drunk enough apparently. I shouldn't be able to see anything. And neither are you," she finished her drink and grabbed two more, plopping one in front of Teles. "I don't remember what kind it is, but I remember how I got it all out here. Used a wagon. Loaded it up with as much as I could and brought it here."

She popped the top of her can and took a drink. This was apparently a testament to how much alcohol a fox can hold. Especially a pissed off and very hurt fox.

"Figured that it would be a good send off," she raised the can into the air and cried out. "Here's to Chocolate, the a*****e, and the bit of my life I wasted on him!"

She slumped back and looked at Teles. She plucked at the can tab. There were some dried leaves on her coat and she brushed them off. Even drunk, Taelence was still a prim vixen.

"Tell me Teles," Tael said, whispering slightly seductively. "Why don't you want to talk about the hot springs? Don't tell me you never thought about us?"

"I know I did," she murmured.
