 Mel walked slowly but steadily along the bank of a nearby river that he assumed led to a lake of some sort with his head bent as he went. It was the first time he'd gone anywhere without the bundle of energy that was his daughter and he had forgotten how lonely it was being by himself like he used to be. Leaving Kahili to spend some time with her mother and sister for a short time would get her better aquainted with her small little family.
Even though she wore him out every day he cared about her but honestly had no idea what he was doing. Getting parenthood dropped on his head all of a sudden wasn't exactly what he was expecting. Now both he and Setsumi were just going on instint and hoping that was enough to get them through it all.

 Alona sucked a deep breath of the warm air that clung around her. The air was humid and thick with heat, and she felt almost suffocated by it. She wasn't overjoyed that the summer had finally reached, her soul longed for a sweet coolness that fall brought every year with the changing of leaves.
But she would have to wait for that to come again, how many years has it been since she had come to valley in the fall? Come to think of it, she hadn't really thought about how many years she had been with Cyrus, everything seemed as if it melted into one whole happy memory. Her kids, Cynara, Moki, Maeve, and her adopted Kanti and even more her beautiful grandkids that had gotten even older themselves. It wouldn't be long before she was sure to see even a fourth generation of kids come along, but she would be waiting.
Alona shook her head and gave a soft satisfied sigh, she wouldn't have changed what she had for anything in the world. Taking in a deep gulp of the cool water from the lake that rested in front of she watched as her soft black curls floated along the top, wondering could anything get any better.

Mel continued on his way, following the flow of the river until he finally arrived at the lake he figured the river emptied into. But he wasn't the only one looking for the lake it seemed. A brown dark haired mare was enjoying a refreshing drink from the bright blue lake. His head lifted a little at the thought of some company and slowly walked down towards her. "How's the water today? Cool I hope." Stepping up beside her and walking a few paces into the water he dipped his head take a few well deserved gulps of the water.

Alona let her head bob up as a voice sounded from behind her. She could feel the cool water drizzle down her neck as her soft soaken curls rested on her coat. She gave a friendly warm smile the newcomer who had spoke, her soft brown eyes gazing him intently. By the way that he spoke and looked he appeared to be of little harm, and more of a friendlier stallion.
"Cool could be a perfect word to describe the water today, cool and sweet" she replied looking at the sky for a moment. Despite the fact that the sun hung high it felt so close and hot to her.

"Perfect." Mel flopped over in the shallow water and the the coolness wash over him, bringing down his overheated internal temperature. "I'd ask what brings you here today but I already know it was the heat, right?" he chuckled. The water felt amazing on his coat and after a while he flipped over to get the other side cool as well. Why did the sun have to be so hot??
After getting tired of constantly flipping over to cool the side the was in the sun he stood up and started out into the lake. "Care to join me for a swim? You of all people must know how I feel with your dark coat that this sun is murder." He trotted out into deeper water and started swimming around in the deeper water, enjoying to cold shock to his system that it gave.
