That looks good so far! You should check the fit ASAP, though, before you do any more work on it. I hope you're leaving room for the grommets, too, and you should press the seams before you continue. Pressed seams look much more professional.

Oh, that's super pretty. I love the color. Do you want it for a special occassion or just to wear as a shirt sometimes?
( I have pudgy little fingers, too ;D )

It looks lovely so far! Will be great to see the finished product. Did you actually get your hands on steel for the boning, or using plasitc?

I've used cable ties in two of my corsets and they work fairly well, though I plan to take those corsets apart and replace the ties with spiral steel soon. Just make sure that you make plenty of channels (at least 15) and that you use two ties per channel. Plastic won't work for a training corset, but you should be able to shrink your waistline at least a couple inches and the cable ties shouldn't lose too much of their shape, even after a full day of you wearing your corset.

are the seams flat-felled? if not i highly reccomend making them so, i use flat-felled seams on all of mine and it makes them much stiffer and gives a cleaner look. other than that it looks fantastic so far!
