Because I could not stop for death, He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held but just ourselves, And immortality. WTF is going on here?! I leave for a week and come back to a ghost town. Are we really gonna let this place die? Is it time to let it rest in peace? Y'know, I've lost interest in this place. To the point where I don't even care about my little cenee girl, quests, and monthly collectibles. I don't give up though cause you guys are my good friends. If it weren't for HPM I'd never hear or see you again. You've given up on your LJ's which I never thought was possible and now you're giving up on HPM... WTF?! Are we all gonna be like April and kiss each other goodbye? We have too much history to lose touch with one another. Can't we just put a little effort forth to keep in touch? With just a bit of effort we can gain interest and meet new friends as well. But we don't and we can't keep the newbs because no one talks. Then the door was open and the wind appeared The candles blew and then disappeared The curtains flew and then he appeared, saying don't be afraid Come on baby, and she had no fear And she ran to him, then they started to fly They looked backward and said goodbye, she had become like they are She had taken his hand, she had become like they are Come on baby, don't fear the reaper

My computer currently has a worm not allowing me to get to my desktop.(restarts after winXP screen) probably going to buy a new comp since i'm now down to only 3 ways to fix it. reinstall winXP, which is illegal and not possible since my cousin has it. make the HD a slave drive(not sure hot to..)but that will just cost me money to buy a new HD. and finally figure out how to make this ultimate boot disc. new comp sounds good, i just want my files back from my camera. sad
thats mainly why i'm not on as much.

Thanks for this topic Lise.
There used to be something here. In the heyday, there were at least near 24 "midnight riders", and regular chats on msn and all. Now, hardly anyone. There can be something here again if people could simply show up for a few seconds each day if they choose.
Maybe we've gotten old. It seems to me that young people are fascinated with updating livejournals, myspace, youtube videos and all that. Some of those people have not just one journal, but five. Maybe there's less fascination in the regard because we are grown up but that still doesn't excuse not popping in for a tiny visit.
We lost connection with each other. What do we have in common anymore? We're friends that have been together, many since 2001. Many since 2004 and on, but that's still several years gone by. That's a long time. But we still have to share new things with each other to keep that friendship alive. To keep those embers burning. What the heck are you guys up to these days? Let's talk. Good idea! Even if we don't share everything in common, we can agree to disagree with whatever and merely enjoy sharing what we're doing.
The recent guild changes would have been great if the staff were committed. Understandably, they are not. We are older, and have real jobs to attend to. But we now have changes that were worse than the old ones because now all the old topics were deleted, but there's 5-6 subforums that nobody is going to visit. It's hard enough to get people to visit the main page... muchless a subforum. I'm not complaining about it now because all of that is said and done, but I just felt like it was appropriate to state how this is influencing this guild again.
Buit one thing for sure. A forum is not a forum without its people.

Thnx for taking this topic seriously Ari, (you too Matt...Josh, you're always good for a smile). I just hate to see this place so darn quiet. As you may remember it took me forever to join because I was busy licking my Void wounds, but I finally jumped on the bandwagon because I was lonely and all of my friends were here. But now it might as well be Void revisited. It's sad.
Truthfully the Internet bores the hell out of me and aside from the ocassional search I'm only on to keep in touch. But sometimes it seems that if I don't say anything, nobody will say anything. And other times it seems that when I do say something, everybody runs. It's a damned if you do and a damned if you don't situation.
I just really miss the old days. Those days where we'd talk about everything and anything. Those inane topics like, "What's you favorite soda?" They might not have had much substance, but at least they generated conversation.
I think that's what we need to do here. Just some stupid topic a day to help generate conversation. It's odd how we keep getting new people who leave an introductory post, and then never come back. I don't know if they're shy or just think that we're stuckup, but something is wrong here. Maybe if we give them some mindless topics to post in they'll feel better about getting to know us.
I dunno. It's true we're all getting older and our life responsibilities have increased, but we still take the time to look in here to see if anything is going on... why can't we take a minute or two to say something? I don't think it's that hard to do.
I hear you on the guild changes. I remember when we were first asked if we thought subforums would be a good idea and as I recall we all thought that it would be a good idea to organize things. Unforunately it became clear right away that they were going nowhere fast and that the gold invested to supply them was a big waste, but what'dya gonna do? What's done is done. That's why I have been putting my topics in here first and then moving them over to their proper subforum later. I urge that all new threads be placed here in general and we'll worry about putting them away when and if they become stagnant.
The key sentence and golden rule here is, "A forum is not a forum without its people."
I urge everybody here who gives a crap enough to at least keep in touch with their friends, to remember that phrase and help this forum generate some interest amongst its members by doing more than just looking to see if anyone has said anything. If we can generate some interest we can keep our newbs and possibly earn more. Because lets face it... we do have to earn our friendships. Those bonds that form are forged through open communication. Someone has to be the first to say, HI.
What say you guys? Let's start some inane convos, keep 'em up for a little bit and then go newbie shopping. Perhaps we can use Ari's phrase in a new guild banner that we can sport around Gaia? Josh, if you think that idea floats well perhaps you can come up with some pretty artwork for us? Maybe we should have a banner making contest? I'd like to hear from all guild members on this subject.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Lise. I enjoyed reading them.
The key is, people just have to make the effort to show up. Share a bit of yourself. Don't hide. ya know?

-sighs-
I stated my reasoning to a few people for the whys how things came down to this. But I fully agree with the line "A forum is not a forum without its people" Because that's true! The whole reason behind this guild was so that we could all keep up with each other. That was our PURPOSE. Our PURPOSE was to have a place to keep in touch and hang out with our friends. Simple as that. And it seems that a lot of people forgot that somewhere along the way. Always expecting or wanting more and doing or suggesting nothing. Or when things was suggested or tried they was met with indifference or completely ignored or outright scorned.
This place is still here as am I. rofl So only time can tell. 3nodding

I've not been around for a while but to tell you ther truth I am getting sick of Gaia. I'm getting sick of the moderators being jerks and thinking they have tons of power, when really they do not.
I'm also tired of one individual who left who, basically, had her head up her friggin arse. It's left me with a major headache because one simple reason I have not been around as much is my daughter. I have one little mouth to feed and I can't be on here andf look after her at the same time.
But I agree with Crys. She now has bloody eye twitches whenever she hears the word PURPOSE. But frankl;y am ready to smack someone whoever says that word again.
But I think the reason why it's "dying" is because we have all got older, simple. I mean our lives have become busier with other stuff. My life at the moment is hectic because again I have to move, am going back to work soon. I even have to find childcare for my girl, and Eddie's trying to find a job now.
Oh and I have been promoted to vice captain now. When I get the chance I'll try and find something that I can do to help this guild. But at the moment I am running around like a headless chicken.

I hear ya loud and clear, Bec.
I too have issues with folks who would lord their self perceived superiority over others, but whatcha gonna do. *shrugs* I figure there will come a day when things will turn and whether or not I choose to be there for them becomes an issue solely onto me. And I have a very long memory. I don't like being snubbed. Nuff said.
As for your duties as a mother and a mate, please know that we support you with all that we are. There are just some things that take priority, no questions asked. My life isn't what it was a year ago either. Although my new little one isn't quite so little, but damned if I can sometimes tell the difference.
I just wanted to address those who would look in here that if you're taking the time to pop your head in to have a look around, then why don'tcha take a few extra minutes to say, hi. That's all it takes to keep a forum active. Quit ghosting. Even if you don't know what to say when it comes to starting a new thread of your own, then take the time to post in an existing thread... there's enough in here to keep everyone active. We all listen to music, most of us read or watch tv, some of us play games, etc. That kind of thing.

I think everyone has blown this way out of proportion. If our Guilds purpose was for all of us to keep in touch, then why was nobody ever around? If were all supposed to be friends, then why doesn't anyone ever reply to pm's? Seriously, this is ridiculous. Nobody has their head up their a** Becky. But, people move on. And that, I'd seriously hope you'd at least be able to accept. I'm kind of shocked everyone went into b***h mode. And I'm trying to figure out why. I don't see the point of all of this. Honestly. Does any of this s**t have to do with me leaving? And be honest with me. Cause I won't be able to give out any explanations unless you all are truthful with me here.
Edit: I'm going to assume Becky's post was directed straight at me. I could be wrong, but I don't know about anyone else leaving other than I. And if your post is directed towards me I'd seriously love to know.

Actually, Prem, I was worried that I was one of those "offending" members that seems to get mentioned here.. because I tend to be opinionated. Not to be mean, but to deliver honesty with the intent of constructive criticism that may be used as a helpful tool, not a hurtful one. It evidently was important enough to make a topic like this when it's becoming a ghosttown in this guild. Maybe i am not sensitive enough though.. sad
Maybe I am afraid to say that our interests have been very diversified over time, and away from the context that bounded us together in the first place- Final Fantasy and other RPG games. On top of the other things said.. I mean, we can still share what's up with our lives and all, ya know?
But I am rather curious- it was hard to see where ANY poster mentioned the offending buzzword "purpose" these past few days. Anyone can quote me the offending post if they can find it?

You just proved that whole ghost theory with your very response. None of us truly ever leave. When we get bored or just nosy enough we find ourselves popping our heads into this guild to see what is going on. Though unfortunately guild hits do not keep things active. An actual post or two do. Anyways, the point of this particular thread is not to point fingers, but rather grass roots a solution. If there are issues to deal with other than a dying guild than I would suggest that we curb the drama and take it to pms. Although drama does make the world go round and may in fact increase guild hits, I do believe with "this issue" there are more important things at stake. Like friendship. So don't get your noses bent out of shape and say something publically that you may regret later.

So don't get your noses bent out of shape and say something publically that you may regret later. I haven't said anything publicly JUST YET that I would possibly regret later. Reason why is because I don't know who is directing the hatred towards whom. It appears it is straight at me. And if it is, I'd like to know so I can clear a few things up. I came in the guild to say hello. I was going to make a topic. And then I saw this and was like wtf? Where'd this s**t come from? It's nothing more than that at all whatsoever. I simply left the guild because nobody was posting besides yourself and Ariel. And you know what? There is nothing wrong with that. But, I don't see the point of me sticking around if nobody posts or keeps in touch. So I thought, ok I will leave for now, and stop in from time to time to say hello to everyone. Because in the end, I've known all of you waaaaaaaaaay to long to just leave and not stop in once in awhile and say hello. Edit: And for the record, I'm not trying to start drama. Or get anyone pissed off. But if someone has something nasty to say towards me, you better believe I have something to say just as nice right back. And that's that. If nobody has anything nasty to say towards me, then I won't have anything to say back to anyone. Am I making any sense here?
