Moving through the pride lands in a near dream-state, the Dark Heart paced along her solitary path. A soft melody crossed her mind and she hummed it, single-feathered tail waving in time with her steps. She had no particular destination in mind... Just wandered, steps slow and soft, eyes taking in her surroundings. A herd of zebra started at her nearness, but remained still, knowing she had no interest in them. "Where would you be, if you weren't here with me..." She crooned softly. "Who would you love, would it be me?"

Ears flicked in interest. A voice. Somewhat soothing....haunting....he liked it. A sadistic smile to his face, his claws scratched up the ground leaving mess in his wake. Drool slightly fell to the ground, his maw hanging open widely. As he came near to the zebra, he suddenly forgot the voice and remembered blood...hunger...his need to kill. Without another thought, he sprang charging toward the herd. The zebra had been running at this point, but he kept driving forward, muscles burning under his skin, and yet he didn't feel anything He couldn't years of fighting dulled his pain...his feeling...everything. The perfect killing machine.

Pausing in her roaming, Dakisria scented the air. Her head whipped around snake-fast, tracking the arriving scent. Male. Twisted. Darkness... A smile curled at her mouth. The Heart of Darkness could always smell her marker. It was a part of her... With a shadows grace she turned, watching the male bear down on the herd. He was fast, strong, muscles moving with supple grace beneath the dark coat. Not knowing why, she picked up a slow trot, keeping him in sight as he bore down on his kill. "Go... Now." She whispered softly, unknowingly. "Make your move now."

The female's scent was caught within his nose. It seemed...strange...unknowing...primal yet...female....NO! Stop! Blood! He needed a kill. Needed to feel ripped flesh below him. Snarling, he kept going. Suddenly, he heard her command..and followed it. Leaping upon a mare, he dug his claws into her, his teeth biting and tearing. As the equine fell over slightly, he pinned her down, biting and clawing. Her blood filled his nostrils, his eyes widening with need of flesh.

"Now." She had chanted a final time as he leapt, the burn of victory dancing through her as she watched he and the prey fall. A solid hit, a good strike. He had it... Feebly the legs -once so powerful in flight- kicked, trying to dislodge the killer. The male did not move, his grip was good, the life beneath his jaws dwindling. All the time she moved closer. She was not foolish enough to get close enough to threaten his kill, just enough to enjoy the grip her shadows had in him. "Well done."

Ryder instantly picked up the female, and turned in her direction, his weight upon his carcass. He snarled to her, baring his fangs, eyes blood shot. The male's jaw instantly lowered to the flesh, beginning to tear, swallowing the meat whole, letting the blood seep all over him. But his eyes continued to burn into the female. At her voice, he slowed, calming down. It was her voice that commanded him for a moment...and it seemed as though her voice would be the one to calm him...for now. Ryder continued to snarl, but not as badly as he ate, staring at her all the while.

She watched silently as he mantled his weight over the prey, claiming it, his expression fierce as he considered her. Taking a few last paces -just a little closer- she sat, curling her tail around her body and simply watching. He did not scare her, rather, intrigued. "Well done." She echoed again with a slight nod as his growls lowered. "A masterful display of skill. Do you have a name?"

He snorted a little. Name? As he feasted still on the carcass, he couldn't help but think. Did he really have a name? He knew a number, definitely a number. Every he was in the ring, he knew the number. But name? As he dug deeper into his memories, he slowly began to fit bits and pieces of it...someone named him...his first trainer.
"Rrr....Ryder..." He managed to growl, staring up into her eyes. She seemed pleased with him. Pleased was good. He liked to please. Slowly, he nudged some of his kill over to her, offering her to eat. "Name?" He looked to her, head tilted.

"Ryder." She murmured, tilting her head the other way, flakes twitching. She considered it, then nodded. It was, a good name. A name, foreign to her, but she was foreign to this land, so that was not so unusual... Not really. Surely he hadn't eaten his fill. "Finish first, I thank you..." She murmured, gesturing to the kill. "Then I will share, if you so wish... As for my name..." She smiled. "I am called Dakisria..."

He stopped feeding staring at her, blood dripping from his maw as well as some meat bits. Was the meat not pleasing to her? As she spoke, the male tilted his head slightly, trying to take in her words, the scent of fresh kill messing with his senses. He couldn't take it! Lowering his muzzle, he began to ravage the carcass yet again, letting the nutrients slip down his throat into the belly of the beast. At her name, he stopped. Licking at his maw, he blinked trying to speak. "Dak..Dak..isrrria..." He growled out a little. "Dakisria. Female? Smell...better..than..males..Dakisria....pretty scent."

She watched him eat, wondering at the source of his hunger. He seemed, well - kept... Perhaps he hunted for other reasons than mere survival? She didn't really know, couldn't tell... She tilted her head when he said her name, nodding slightly. "Yes... I am a female... And, thank you..."

Twitching his nose, his eyes burned holes into her for what seemed like eons. Licking his maw, he got up in one fluid motion, pushing the rest of the meat over to her. "Eat. Dakisria eat. Ryder give." He grunted a little, staring at her again before pushing the carcass over a few more inches before turning. He stepped a little bit away before dropping back down to his belly, grooming at his maw, paws, and claws. Blood still stained deep within his talons from days gone past. His tail flicked and curled idly as he waited for the female to finish.

More that a little bemused by his strange ways of speech and action, she tilted her head, considering him. Coming to a silent conclusion she nodded gratefully, smiling. "I thank you, Ryder." She murmured, helping herself to the offering. She ate slowly, gracefully, her eyes finding him between bites, considering, searching. He was, an interesting fellow...

As strange as it was, Ryder was calm. For a strange reason, not even one carcass had filled him. He wasn't hungry. He was content. As he cleaned his killing tools, he began to wonder why. His mind wheels were turning, his eyes holding a distant gaze of unknowing. For the first time in his life, Ryder did not want to kill.
Did the female had something to do with this? Did her commanding presence, her voice, her scent, drive him to the point of humanity? Shaking his head, Ryder continued to snarl and hiss to himself, head jerking quick at different points. His claws and body twitched, his mind working. When would she finish eating? Would she stay? Would she leave? Would they travel or split paths? Would he ever stop asking stupid questions to himself?! When Ryder thought he was insane enough, this female, this Dakisria gave him a new meaning to the word insane.

She watched him as she fed, sensing a sort of contentment well up in him. The sort of satisfaction that came for the male who fed his female? Who saw to her comfort and well-being? She shook her head, chasing the foolish thought out of her mind. A moment later he was twitching, clearly agitated. She wondered if he'd ever felt at peace anywhere... If he'd ever, simply been. "Do you ever rest, Ryder?" She asked between bites.
